You don't have to remain in the state where you were arrested if you live elsewhere. You just have to return for your court dates. If you're charged with a serious crime or live far away your bail will be set higher but they can't force you to sit in a hotel room if your established residence/place of employment is in another state. If they're hellbent on you staying in-state they'll just keep you in jail. I assume Styx is staying in LA because it's convenient with his court dates coming up soon.

You can also arrange to undergo any treatment or diversion programs in your home state as long as it meets the court's approval.
