They are catastrophic, once a month I have to restart steam and sometimes it takes 10 seconds to load a page. Dark ages shit
Why are you keeping Steam open at all times in the first place?

I dont I shut my computer off every night just once a month steam crashes and its pushing me over the edge, I might even not spend $300 on steam during this halloween sale!
I leave steam open all the time, I only have 16 gigs of ram and an RTX 3070, I put my computer to sleep when I'm not going to use it for a while and I don't think I've restarted it since whatever windows update I felt like installing.
I think the issue is between the seat and the keyboard.

Something tells me some people here are still in the stone age (HHD) and are putting the fault on software.

Maybe you can spend that $300 on different RAM.

Or an SSD since @Raging Capybara raises a good point.

At this point I'm inclined to just go for a very expensive investment despite my current computer only being about 4 years old if just to make sure everything I have is properly future proofed for the next decade.

Although it really sucks that what was once decently higher-middle tier hardware only 4 years ago is now being forcibly obsoleted by developers.

My Deck works just fine though.

I don't disagree that Chromium is a resource hog but you guys sound like you're having catastrophic software issues.
I just recently had my deck get soft locked, trying to verify the install without the old wifi network available.
Had to USB tether that shit to my phone just to fix it.

SSDs aren't even that overly expensive anymore. Currently 167 (amazon) to 190 USD for a Crucial P3 NVME Drive (4TB)

Until someone gives me an account of Steam breaking so hard that it burned down their house which made their Steam Deck fall off their desk and brain their dog, I can't help but chalk a lot of this up to a handful of you guys either having really bad luck or having hardware issues.

Damn I didnt know I personally coded the shitty steam browser, my bad

I have 4, Steam is just another shit browser application.

it was an inperson microcenter deal earlier this year that got you a 7900X, an asus motherboard, and 64GB of chinesium ddr5 ram for $591 + tax
I also got my ram from Microcenter. Maxed out my mobo at 64gb because why not. What brand did you get? All the ram is from Taiwan, no? I got ripjaws in mine but it's ddr4. No issues since upgrading to a 5900x. I would have random reboots when I was running a 3800x that required some ram settings tweaked in bios.

That's like bragging you're the most evolved caveman of the cavemen.
do not dox me doxing is banned here ur all just mad I outed u all as steam program trannies!!?

In reality, Steam is a shitty chromium app, and my issues with it are minor at best. I will continue to use it and I dont know why niggers carry water for it so far.

Steam is shit, but their competitors (maybe outside GOG) are such a fucking joke.

Epic has to bribe people with game.

Uplay/EAplay/whatever are just bloatware that people NEED to install to run their games.

What else is there? Big Fish Games Launcher? Hah!
