I've just about had it with Steam and Valve in general really. Yeah so they put that notification up if you are on Windows 7 or 8.1 (or 8) which I am using 8.1 because I was fed up with 10. Looks like I'll have to go back to 10 if I want to continue playing my games because Steam is too reliant on Chromium. Ever since Steam started changing the UI to be browser based it has been as buggy as shit. Often when playing certain games my steam chat will bug out completely and I have to restart steam. I never used to have these issues years ago and I am not happy with the direction Valve has been going in the last few years. For instance, they made it so sprays are disabled by default in TF2 unless to enable them and they also made swearing and other "bad words" filtered by default in both TF2 and CS:GO which although can be turned off It is certainly a sign of things to come.

The days of stellar deals are long since over, and even Humble Bundle's offerings are trash now. Nobody really needs to convince the public to move over to PC with giving us boatloads of quality games for the price of dinner anymore

The economy in general continuing to go down the shitter may make them reconsider being so greedy about this shit. In the end once software has been produced there isn't much cost in hosting it for download compared to the 60$ pricetag of each AAA game.

valve doesn't set the prices, the devs/publishers do. humble got "shit" the moment they moved the good games into their monthly subscription crap (unless it's VR, books or software since that's not cannibalized by it). in the meantime enough shops have sprung up that there's pretty much always a deal running somewhere, and it makes zero difference buying a steam key there, or on humble or from valve directly. at this point I probably bought as much fanatical bundles as humble back then.

I didn't have any UI problems in my years of using it. And since I don't use steam chat at all anymore, is there something else I got to know?
chromium did crap out a few times, giving me a black store and sometimes even made my library unusable until I restarted it. think they fixed it by now (to a degree) by using a newer chromium version.

Their app is also absolutely dogshit and unstable to use (often freeze or crash) now. The Steam Chat now comes with separated apps for some fucking reason. As if the app is now developed by Pajeets or people of color who don't know how to code.

Those are great when you know what you want, but the days of getting a pile of keys for a buck (or even a penny) and getting some surprise hits and misses are through. Plus, we just don't see crazy shit like good AAA games dropping down to like $5. Steam was unbelievable a decade ago.

most AAA games are also shit and not worth the 5 bucks (those dropping to down to 5 either was years later or if they were shit anyway), if you want surprise bundles just grab the fanatical ones. penny ones haven't been a thing for ages because people abused those, that's why humble raised the minimum to $1.

people have way too rose-tinted glasses when it comes to discounts and bundles of old.

Those Fanatical ones are... not great. I've ordered from them a fair amount, and those bundles tend to be bottom of the barrel.

Plus, maybe it's just my credit card companies, but I've gotten all sorts of crap from them, like calls and temporary locks, from them thinking Fanatical are shady.

I know I got a fair few games that hadn't yet dropped to $20 on Xbox 360 for like $5 during Steam sales way back when. Consoles eventually caught on, but for a fair while, Steam deals were second to none. You know, the Wii Shop Channel never ran a single sale for anything during its entire lifespan, and Nintendo never caught any flak for that, because sales on digital storefronts just weren't much of a thing back then. If there were ever any sales, they tended to be like, 10-20% off. The whole notion of digital fire sales came from Steam, and that's one reason they gained so much ground.

No shit, wasn't saying they did. Devs and publishers are going to have to learn the lessons, valve will keep printing money though will take a hit too. All the same Valve is partially responsible for how pricing decisions are made with the cut they take on every sale, though it's not direct and most people probably don't even think about it. I'm sure there was always a cut being taken by previous competition, the cost get your product on physical shelves, etc.

Another update has dropped for Steam Client Beta. UI and Steam Overlay has improved according to Valve itself. God knows if it gets worse for performance wise or not.

I haven't use Steam for ages. But last time I did, sharing any KiwiFarms URL on chat or Steam Discussion can be consider as malicious attempt for some reason. I wonder if there's a tranny among Valve.

Thread no. 78593645983 of people tardraging because they refuse to update their ancient Windows version to 10/11 or to switch to Linux and the evil Jewish cabal of globohomo big tech wants to take away their freedoms by abandoning an old commercial proprietary operating system.

You wanna know why Valve is pushing Linux so hard? And why they contribute so much to Linux so that it's better for gaming? They're also fed up with the current affairs at Microsoft and want to move to something with more freedom. Yet every single retard who screams about Valve being evil because they are abandoning Win7/8/8.1 refuses to switch to Linux.

Linux has no games, Stop pretending this shit runs anything on an acceptable level, not even Nvidea drivers run on this SO.

If you're this much of a joyless faggot that you refuse to install Linux or to upgrade to Win11 to play your games and instead you only complain on the Internet about how bad big corpos are instead of trying to overcome basic issues you might as well kill yourself honestly.

Also Nvidia drivers went open source last year and more than 3/4ths of the Steam library is playable on Linux. If you don't know anything about what you're talking about then just shut the fuck up. I've noticed that every single retard that's complaining about everything Steam OS support related has never even used Steam, not to mention anything that's not Windows XP or Windows 7.

you can my friend. hope this helps. just go to the chat settings next time it pops up.

I disagree there. It's just that most AAA games are junk that aren't worth having, and the stuff that is worth having I already have.

Even then, there's a bunch of stuff on my wishlist currently on sale for £10 or less.
