Valve needs to ban all third party trading websites or one of these days a lawsuit will win agasint them. They are to scared to do this becasue this would truly killed the CS market.
I know this is kind of a nuclear option but I feel like a lot of problems would be solved if they just removed trading.

Trading internally in steam wont harm them, its the third party money laundering that can and will fuck them up if these lawsuits progress further. The issue is once this happens the "True" price of all these digital items breaks and a true crash happens the max cost a steam item can go for now is $2000 USD when most high tier knives go for sometimes $100,000+

A lot of these items are hoarded by like a handful of players TF2,CS, etc most of these items are investments and dont even see a single match in game. You can complain about the Rothschilds doing this but valve has an Achilles heel that they themselves have let fester for far too long. My issue is a lot of guys here dont play Counter Strike or know this shit they just think the loot boxes operate like they do in other games. When in reality valve styled loot boxes are some of the most jewish 2000s asian gacha tier garbage in the gaming industry.

It's funny that valve did the NFTs before they became a thing and everyone hated the NFTs, meanwhile valve's pseudo market of skins went unnoticed. Isn't there a simple protection against lawsuits with slapping a content warning "gamble carefully" or something? It's what the gambling industry does.

Valve addressed the New York lawsuit.

Let me get this straight, Valve is being sued by three parties: the state of New York, Washington, and the PRS in the UK?

- Edit -

Here's the pdf of the lawsuit in New York; https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/court-filings/new-york-v-valve-corporation-complaint-2026.pdf

Yes, however a lot of the systems behind valves loot boxes are kinda scummy. You mostly need to buy a key and then obtain a crate to open it. Most games tell you upfront regarding drop rates, items in the box, etc becasue in the past a lot of gacha shit was scrutinized and or changed due to laws. A big comparison people use to defend valve is "Well duuuur what about EA and FIFA the evil sports ball" looking it up. EA fully states the drop rates for their packs and will also somewhat include a "pity" or "after you open X packs you will always gets an ultra rare here" this is what gachas do too btw and as stated before Valve has no such pity system in place. A lot of these companies tell you in your face "Well you wont get it but it has a 0.0001% drop rate yadda yadda"

Valves loot boxes plainly suck ass and people need to stop using the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN" mantra to demonize they suck already but most CS addicts either sunk to much money into it or dont care to bring it up.

hey guys is there any chance New Yorks Anti-SLAPP laws could apply to this case in steams favor due its language being filed not only in bad faith but also its clear suppression of speech and compellation of speech? I mean they are without question at this point using this lawsuit for an illegitimate objective outside the current lawsuit's stated purpose. like that should be enough for dismissal. but I'm being really idealistic here

I hope it crashes and burns. It's the double-standards that get me, other companies do/did the same thing but better with the monetisation of their games but they got scrutinised and bullied while valve got a pass.

Somebody pointed this out to me earlier, from the statement that Valve released, and i thought it was interesting.

The NYAG also proposed to gather additional information (beyond what we normally collect in the course of processing payments) about each game user on the off-chance someone in New York was anonymizing their location to appear outside of New York, such as by using a VPN. This would have involved implementing invasive technologies for every user worldwide. Similarly, the NYAG demanded that Valve collect more personal data about our users to do additional age verification—even though most payment methods used by New York Steam users already have age verification built-in. Valve knows our users care about the security of their personal information, and we believe it’s in our and their interest to only collect the information necessary to operate the business and comply with law.

Play jewish games and win jewish prizes (aka annihilation)

I think the difference is that all of this remained very contained and isolated in Steam while NFTs tried to sell themselves to the mainstream as the hottest thing since Bitcoin. Normies dont get how this CS2 stuff works but they have a general idea of what NFTs were, even if it was just a case of osmosis.

A great use of our taxes.

Clearly the solution here is to cut off Steam from New York, Washington and the whole UK.

TL;DR: "Help us with more age verification nonsense or else, Steam!"

It always comes down to the same shit, doesnt it?

Valve is already in the process of moving away from cases and towards terminals. Same drop chances as cases, but they open for free and you get to see 5 skins before it goes away, no money lost. The price you pay for the skin is based off an estimation from the steam market, so the price is dependent off how much others have paid. Not really the best system, but a lot better than cases.

NFTs were sold as investments and held no actual significant value, same as crypto. No one cares about CS2 skins because only the most autistic of chinks believe spending hundred of thousands of dollars hoarding skins is going to turn a profit.

I hope Valve does more to stop these retards. Ban the Chinese from having skins.

we've gotta resurrect Xavier Alvarez's lawyers and start calling regulators retards again.

From what I remember, the way things usually went is some shovelware shit would release, and then later update (this avoids initial upload scrutiny from Valve iirc) to include malware, usually cryptominers. It's very rare to hear about though, and Valve usually bans the offending game extremely fast once discovered. It's like a once a year discovery that doesn't really hit anybody.

I'm pretty sure similar instances have happened on other services, in particular the Play Store and Apple store, so it's quite funny how it's Steam in particular getting constantly targeted.

Steam wins against the Rothchilds and coincidentally NY starts to sue them for loot boxes

My noticing senses are tingling, bros

A reminder on why RAM is so expensive and why the steam machine’s release date and price became “TBA” again.

I’m getting tired of making fun of them, it is clearly not working
