Set your phasers to pozz.and he confirmed the show will “absolutely” have a gay character.

lead character
For what fucking purpose? The captain is always the protagonist because they always have the most impact on every scenario the crew finds themselves wrapped up in. They tell everyone else what to do, for god's sake, and that works. Which other crew members appear in an episode is essentially optional. A story about a mook in the Star Trek universe might be nice as a short film or something like that, but not a whole series. It sounds like they're gonna turn Discovery into something like a character-driven war story with an overarching plot, and that's not really Star Trek now, is it?but not the ship's captain...
captain benjamin lafayette sisko appeared in every single episode of ds9 and was given the lead credit (everyone else was alphabetical) so ya i agreeFor what fucking purpose? I have no qualms with a "Slightly-Lower Decks" story, as long as it's a small one like an episode or, like I said before, a short film. I don't think anyone really wants to see a full-blown Star Trek soap opera, though.I like the idea of the lead character not being the captain, in the Slightly-Lower Decks sense.

They said the new lead is human, but there will be a lot more aliens on the bridge. If our captain is a non white woman, I'm hoping she's going to be hispanic or from the Indian subcontinent or be Asian. We've had our black captain (Sisko, who is my favourite regardless of how people view DS9), so we need a different race. Heck, I'd love a non human captain too - Starfleet isn't just all humans lol
