What are your thoughts on the new Ultimate Universe ending?
I've been reading the stuff from the two new universes since the beginning because I thought it could be a good way to get back into the hobby. Some of the books started out pretty strong, at least IMO (Ultimate Spidey and The Ultimates had really solid first arcs) while others were either kinda bad or just serviceable. It's been two years since it all started, and I’ve gotta say, it doesn’t really feel like the plot has progressed enough to justify this big “Endgame” event.
Public opinion has kinda soured on it too. It feels like the whole thing has lost all its momentum. People are giving Ultimate Spidey crap for sidelining Peter in his own comic for most of the run, Hickman just stopped giving a fuck about him after 9-10 issues. The Ultimates is alright, even though Camp just can’t help himself from inserting his liberal faggotry in every issue. Even then, it always feels like the most important stuff is happening offscreen and nothing gets developed. They met this universe's Shang Chi in issue 15, then they drop the whole thing for issue 16 and we're probably not gonna meet the guy again until the big crossover.
Ultimate X-Men never had a plan and 20+ issues in it feels like nothing has happened. Ultimate BP is just garbage with pretty looking art. Ultimate Wolverine is dogshit.
