I don't think he's been accused of raping anyone. He's been accused of "sexual coercion"
"Sexual coercion", also known as "I fucked a man to benefit from nepotism, then accused him of sexual crimes to benefit from victimhood"

Ellis did nothing wrong, except for being one of the first writers I saw trying to portray cuckoldry as something wholesome, in his "Crooked Little Vein" book.

I have two questions: 1) If someone was to read the Pre-Crisis Earth-1 comics where would be the best point to start chronologically?
2) Besides 52 has there been anything good post Identity Crisis made by DC Comics?
Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison's Green Lantern Runs, the 2021 Crime Syndicate miniseries, Blackest Night, Forever Evil, and Flash rebirth are some good post Identity Crisis stories.

I mean his daughter is a whore and he tried to threaten Moot if her pictures were posted online. He has that British quality that Null has pointed out before and it's an odd smugness they carry.

His stuff has never really wowed me because it's very snarky and nihilistic. He's a precursor to the writing that points out it's flaws to disregard those flaws.

Slott made him into some fat faggot with a tragic background who's dad bullied him.
Otto's daddy issues predate Slott's origin by a fair margin. I have the issue (Spider-Man Unlimited #3) that details his pre-Doc Ock origins and while Papa Ock was a raging drunk, Otto's mother coddled him and even manipulated him into breaking off his engagement with a co-worker. That story was also weird because it was framed by sub-plot of Otto attempting to cure HIV/AIDS because his ex-fiance contracted via tainted blood.

Allow me to sperg for a moment.
On a whim, I put on a video on the background while I worked, about comparing the League of Extraordinary Gentlement comic to the movie. Not a great subject but just for noise, you know.
First thing I see is the guy wears his fingernails painted black. Bad sign.

Couple minutes in, and he's disraught at how racist O'Neill's drawings of Arabs and Chinese are. He actually said, out loud, that fucking faggot cliché of "What - and I cannot stress this enough - the fuck?".
-For one: it's a world made from old victorian literature, meant to reflect that, what the fuck does he want it to be made with the sensitivities of today? He even dismays about how "this was made in 1999, how did he think this was OK???".
-For another: Did you see how he draws the British? The French? How ugly and grotesque most characters are? Do Campion Bond's facial fat folds not immediately communicate that this style is not intended to be flattering?

And the comments, everyone panicking about Moore's penchant to include rape "SA" in his stories. How it's uncomfortable to see it. Yeah sit down on your fainting couch, you baby, it's not meant to be comfortable. Are opium dens comfortable to you? Cannibalism? You're not crying about those being portrayed, why only cry about rape, an element much more frequent both in world literature and world history than pretty much anything else other than murder.

I swear to god, and it's not news to anyone here but these people are the concerned Christian moms of today.

I saw some people complaining on Twitter complaining that this guy seemed to indicate that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was the only important thing Kevin O'Neill ever did. I'm not sure I could sit through an an entire video with this person.

Yes, that was another thing I took issue with.

To be honest, I dropped the video after the whinging about the racial caricatures. Nothing good could come after that and all the prefacing he did about content warnings and such.

I'll take the opportunity to say, my favorite thing Moore ever wrote was a tiny short story in Omega Men, called Brief Lives, also illustrated by O'Neill.

It wasnt Dominic Noble was it? Dudes' got some decent content subjects but he comes off as a 14 year old girl.

His incredible fagularity is hard to tolerate but the comparison idea is neat. History Buffs does it better. Still might not be your cup of whiskey but he has good vids.

It's been a while, so let's all remember the good times when a drunken gambler and plagiarist could create the most insane comic book ever and die on a park bench:

I'm not particularly fond of Garth Ennis' childish edgelord tendencies, but I have to admit that he is an incredibly talented writer. I particularly appreciate his crime fiction because he often manages to keep his fedorabeard stupidity to a minimum. If you haven't read it yet, Red Team is really good shit about a group of NYPD detectives going rogue and ending up way in over their heads.
I'm a huge Ennis fanboy and even i wish he would tone it down from time to time, especially the euphoric atheism, it's beyond grating. I think Hitman is his best work, next to his Punisher MAX run, never really cared for Welcome Back, Frank though. 303 is a, i think, little known, very well-written story by him too, but the artwork is atrocious to the point that it affects my enjoyment of the series as a whole.

I'm confused right now as i never even heard of Red Team before and i thought i read most everything by Ennis so far. Gonna pick it up in the next couple of days.

I can't believe there's actually someone out there that's legit bitching about the art in League of Extraordinary Gentleman, even if it's under a muh racism veneer. Absolutely plebian.

I actually liked Welcome Back Frank before it went off the rails with stupid shit like The Russian surviving decapitation, and Ma Gnucci being cloned. I've read .303 a couple of times, interesting story, but not my favorite by him. I do think that his Punisher MAX run is the best thing in comics though. Just amazing stuff, even if the artwork is lackluster during certain arcs. Howard Chaykin and Goran Parlov are definitely the artistic weak links in that series.

Punisher MAX was what got me back into US comics after more than a decade of manga-only, it's one of my all-time favourite comics. I really liked Chaykin's artwork in American Flagg! but was really weirded out by Punisher #50 and very happy to see that he was only doing that one issue, i have no idea what he was going for but it looked mostly dogshit except for one or two pages and a couple of panels. Parlov i find to be incredibly inconsistent, he has some solid art in the "Long, Cold Dark" arc and the first two issues of the "Barracuda" stand-alone series but then his work in the "Barracuda" arc and the later "Barracuda" issues look like shit in comparison, especially in regards to anatomy. There's this one panel were he drew Frank's forearms almost the size of his torso, it's just absurd. I generally like his style because you can clearly see the euro influence but i prefered the other artists working on Punisher MAX.

Has anyone read "A walk through hell" has that series wrapped up yet? I was waiting for the tpb but have read the first three issues, seems like it has some promise, more than i can say for red squad or whatever his other cop story had...

Fun fact: During Superior Spider-Man, Christos Gage (IIRC) wrote an arc in the Superior Spider-Man team-up book which retconned that entire story. He wrote that Doctor Octopus always fucking knew Norman Osborn was alive/was working with him behind the scenes to create new tech for Norman for a possible comeback until Otto decided to stop working for him out of ego, at which point Norman vindictively infected said ex-girlfriend with AIDS purely to punish Otto.

The ending was pure SJW bullshit of the highest order:
the ending has the female FBI agent get triggered when she walks into a small town red state diner where the TV turned onto the news. The female FBI agent sees on the TV two stories: one about a violent BLM riot being described as peaceful protest and another a story about a guy running for governor on an anti-trans platform; and then listens to the locals in the diner talk about how the people in the cities should stand up for themselves and straight up MURDER the BLM protesters.

This causes the female FBI agent to realize that Hell has nearly successfully taken over Earth (because being anti-BLM and anti-trans=worshiping Satan and the Anti-Christ in Ennis's eyes) and decides to start murdering conservatives so God/good can win. Except she fails miserably in trying to kill the above mentioned would be governor and is killed by cops protecting him and goes straight to hell for good.

Didn't an Antman villain try to cure AIDS or some shit in the 90's? If I remember it was literally only to infect people with AIDS and hold the cure over their heads.

I just read "violent cases" by Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean, interesting seeing Dave's art in a subdued less mixed media style, the story was a bit odd and i thought a tad boring, has anyone here read it? Thoughts?

I haven't read or even heard of that book so no idea bout the larger context, but that sounds like the SJW FBI agent is revealed to be an ineffective retard and her conclusion and actions are proven to be wrong by ending up in Hell.
