The super mario land 2 race was pretty neat. A 5 second win (won't name who to avoid spoilers) at the end was pretty damn close for a 30~ minute run. And that's the only thing I watched from the entire week.

At the end of the day, no matter who screeches at you, you don't have to justify your own opinion and everyone who says otherwise is a tool.

But yeah, the moment gaming became mainstream it was only a matter of time until some power-hungry, attention-seeking cunts reared their ugly heads to try and get some power over others. So a speedrun event that started more as an event for some nerds to come together and have some fun while raising money got turned into this ugly, boring abomination. No witty banter, no funny jokes, no memorable moments (well, expect for cringy moments I guess). I really hope speedrunners see this event for what it is. It's no longer about raising money or coming together to enjoy a hobby together, it's just a platform for assholes to feel special for a day or two and to feel like they have power over antisocial loners. Bloody hell...

They're also pretty much limited to GDQ, so you can watch ESA or one of the other smaller groups out there if you want a troon free experience. Speaking of, ESA Winter started this past weekend. Only caught a few runs myself, but they were fine, about what you'd expect from a non-live event.

I'd have much less problems with troons in speed running if they didn't keep wearing their troon identity like a badge and force me to participate in their delusions. In regards to overall personality, they're also more obnoxious than the actual biological women they are pretending to be, ironically enough.

Oh, they are absolutely without a doubt annoying and typically provide some of the worst runs at any event. Even in terms of cow content, they tend to be too annoying to make fun of. But, there's maybe like, 4 runs out of 100 or whatever that feature them. Although, if your last experience was back in the days of Proto being a host, I can understand where you're coming from, because he was so prominent and showed up in more than whatever megaman game they let him pity run.

Basically, the point I wanted to make is that, even if you take out the troon runners, there's still a bunch of other issues that make GDQ a trashfire. Aside from ESA, there are normally some smaller groups doing their own marathons and stuff, but the lack of live events hit them pretty hard. ESA does reruns whenever no events are going on, and tend to host some of the smaller marathons as well when they happen, so if you follow them and periodically check to see what they're doing, you might end up stumbling onto a few other events.

It never ceases to annoy and astound me that these faggots can speak for 2+ hours straight without breathing and genuinely believe they have to fill every single nanosecond of stream time with their shrill troongoon voices forcing their delusional bullshit and whatever other tard screeching noises they can make because god forbid there be 5 seconds of dead air where viewers can, you know, enjoy the stream and pay attention to the skill of the (totally not fake and cheating with god mode) Speedrunners who somehow managed to get 5 million hp in half life with a door glitch that does not work on any known version Ive ever played. And considering how large and active that community still is, wouldnt suprise me theres a "speedrunning mod" that accelerates your movement speed exponentially to make it LOOK like youre skilled when in reality youre a cheating lying faggot.

TL;DR most "speedrunners" are fakes and frauds who use cheats and mods to claim "world record times" when in non TAS (cheating. they have fucking god/buddha mode on so they dont die and look stupid in front of the audience....) categories after around 2018 when the Troongoons invaded en masse, started their reeeing and banning and censoring of all the previous good commentators who actually knew how to shut the fuck up for 5 minutes and not spam that annoying animals joke that was never funny and started doing all that shit that you mentioned here.

Especially now that there are people coming out and cancelling speedrunners in places like the SM64 running community because their runs were actually fake or using cheats and not spliced so it didnt get detected for so long. Sure theres probably threads on these but not enough people know about this stuff.

ESA is great. Yes, you sometimes have to tolerate the heavy accents and people nervous to commentate in a foreign language, but there's ZERO social justice shilling, no sanitizing for corporate sponsors, no sob story donations and perhaps most importantly none of the cringe-fest "orb", "honk" etc. forced memes that get old after about 15 minutes but last for 7 days.

The production quality is not on par with GDQ, but it's still better than what GDQ had had back when it was still good, which should be enough. And obviously the videos are 1080p and all the game capture etc. is totally competent (unlike early GDQs). It's just less of a "professional event" aimed at raising money. The speedruns are the main event, not the pretense for everything else like it is with GDQ now.

It was like a big dildo sitting on a shelf in the background or possibly in a travel bag. I found a couple thumbnails in the /v/ archives but since it happened a few years ago anything bigger than that has been purged. Yes! I finally found it. The moment I was thinking of was when the runner just randomly mentioned it was the two year anniversary of his gf's transition in the middle of a Fallout speedrun. It was cringy as fuck. Progamingwithed was the dude's name.
