His current LinkedIn profile. Bit deceptive there Mike.

Holy shit, the difference between him now and his LinkedIn profile are night and day.

He must be doing a 100% no glitch speedrun in gaining weight.

I heard both Mike and Edobean are actually going to be doing a live 100% run of McDonalds at the event, if any of you guys happen to be near by to check it out!

They booked it for a late night run to "eat up" a big chunk of time.

MGS 3 run went off the rails at the old sniper guy. Runner is super chill though, it actually really makes me want to play the game for the first time.

One thing I miss about the GDQs of old is the bonus streams they did after the week of speedrunning. Even though there wasn't much of an audience, the viewership declined harshly, and there wasn't an awful lot to take seriously in terms of actually going fast, it was just a lot of fun to watch.

I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but the bonus streams were just a really chill environment. They made a nice contrast to all the hype that happened during the main event, and made the event seem more "human" if that makes any sense.

If you listen closely, you can even hear people not freaking out when someone says "shit"!

I used to always look forward to it too.

The official reason given about why the bonus streams aren't done anymore is that it became too expensive to keep the place booked past the event since they had changed venues, if I remember right. GDQ is greedy enough to nickel and dime the community to post in chat but cheap enough to not rent out an extra day for the post-stream fun.

Back before he gave up on GDQ, Naegleria was hilarious during the bonus streams. During SGDQ 2013 he did a "speedrun" of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game that was a total disaster and featured what he referred to as "a frame perfect reset", because he screwed up. It's such an amusing video, and Blueglass is right there on the couch laughing it up.

Good times. :(

There's one to watch while the official twitch stream is droning away. Here's a drink to the past, everyone~ :drink:

Well yeah, that's because people haven't given a shit about Halo in like a decade.

I'm not even watching this run for that exact reason, I'm getting cleaned up and ready for bed.

Just watching part of one of those bonus streams is extremely depressing on so many different levels.

It opens with 'you're dumb and I hate you', and goes from there, to just a group of friends having a good time together. Charity is great and all, but the runners were able to be themselves and didn't have to fear being permanently banned for wrongthink or wearing a hat that rustles people's jimmies.

On one hand, more money for charity is great, but there's a point when it just kills all that was good. And four years is a short time to fall this far.

It would be even better if the PCF did much more than hand out pamphlets and line the pockets of undeserving people. Maybe things have changed, and if they have someone please correct me so I can at least feel a little bit better until SGDQ comes around...

Look at just how much stuff in that one video we're not allowed to have anymore. Naegleria, Blueglass (though that's sure an acquired taste), banter on the couch. Even the fact that it's from the now-mythical bonus stream. Always the best part of the marathon, now it's 'too hard to run' for a 'professional event'. All lost to give PCF them dolla bills. That's what really kills me. They're quick to talk about being the premier speedrunning event but when you go 'why no fun' it's 'come on, think of the charity, guys it's all about the good cause!'.

I guess NASA's the closest you get to this now.

Yeah, no... I didn't really want to bring that sore spot up as well. Because PCF is only US-based, and almost NONE of their budget goes toward research or helping cancer patients like the Jimmy Fund and stuff do.

But rest assured, AGDQ is generally 20-30% of their yearly income. Go figure.

Do you guys remember when Naegleria had a swear jar? lmao. We're never seeing that again, I think
