Clearly, speedrunners need a new event to act fully exceptional.
 
The amount of downtime they have between streams is pretty mediocre. I guess they didn't have enough runners after banning them all?

Watch runs from 2014 or earlier and then go back to this year and weep at the difference. The European version, the ESA, is still quite good because of how much smaller and anarchic it is, with random people from the crowd walking in front of the camera or being invited to have a go by the runner.

Agreed, ESA is the superior event right now I'd say.
I hope it does not go the same way as AGDQ as it gets larger. It seems to be the fate of all organisations to become more politically-correct and pro-tranny overtime.
 
Still very early, but a comparison of the donation tracker against last year would indicate they're about 30-40k behind the previous pace, or about 20%. That would get interesting if it holds. Naturally there are many variables that affect that, and the donation curve is heavily loaded towards the end.

Viewership... I'll call it flat. Also interesting.

Reviewing further, I think 2017 may have had a stronger early schedule. OoT where this year's infamous Infamous run was, for example. Also, anyone heard a Yetee donation yet? How they handle that might be important.

Passing thought: bet Notch doesn't helicopter in the pallet of cash this year, either.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen or heard anything from Yetee so far. Hope it stays that way.
edit: Yetee spotted, they have, at least paid enough to get their logo up on the backboard behind the hosts.


Betting Notch sticks around though, he's not one to be bigfooted out.

My favorite part about that game was when you'd buy a copy of it to mod your Xbox and that was it.

I enjoyed the Donkey Kong Country runs, but they've had someone at the interview table presumably demonstrating and explaining glitches for like ~7 minutes now and his mic has been off the entire time. Everyone's mics, actually. I'm sure what this guy is saying is really interesting and informative (no sarcasm, I'm being genuine) but of course the GDQ tech crew is phoning it in again.

That's because DKC glitches are really kind of cool in how a lot of them have to be executed. Its why I enjoy the races so much.

And I wish I was surprised that the sound is all jacked up, but the amount of tech problems they've had so far is astonishing.

Haven't looked since this morning when alladin was going, anything of major interest happen?

i think anyone that uses the "if it doesn't apply to you, don't be offended" excuse should be taken out back and shot
when someone says ALL X does Y, it means all. you can't just suddenly go "oh no, i didn't mean all"
