The end cap is a fucking gameboy Pokemon Emerald run!? You have to be shitting me, this should be on overnight. But if that wasn't shit enough, it had to be a romhack that makes a children's game even piss baby easier by cheating. Completely invalidates the dono incentive to pick his starter by cheating to have whatever moves he wants. Cheats to start with the bike. Cheats in rare candy. Bruh, why not just cheat in warping directly to the win screen when you press start if you don't want to play the fucking game.

Fuck these (literal) faggots. After decades of turbo autism in the speedrunning community about ROMs vs original hardware, these fags just don't even care anymore. Speedrunning is so cooked if this is what it gets promoted. The theater kids were bad enough, but the actual players don't even care about it anymore.

What do you expect? At this point anyone who would want to get into it is going to be demoralized. You could be a literal gigachad walking into the speedrunning circles and in moments you're going to have a LFJ-dressalike come up to you going "Oh honeeeeeeee, you have just such femme energy we _gotta_ transition you". At AGDQ any fun those guys haven't taken out is taken out by 'guys guys our totally above board 'charity' we do this for needs professionalism' for what is a nerd party. Meanwhile everyone's clapping like retards for the tasbot guy when all he's doing is an arbitrary code injection exploit into a gameboy. It's all so rote and the worst kind of stale, and what's worse they can't even do rote traditionalism right since for some reason they killed off ending with Metroid. It was dumb but it was a decent tradition.

The troons pushed out the turbospergs and with them went the fun. Where's Blueglass just being a quirky aspie? Where's that weird German kid from '14 that broke F-Zero GX right in half over his knee playing it in a Force trance? Last couple times I tried tuning in there's nothing like that anymore.

Speedrunning is very sick for many reasons. AGDQ is corpo-wokeslop now.

It's a romhack so not like he's gamesharking it but essentially the same thing baked into the rom. Sometimes in speedrunning they use romhacks to amp up the difficulty but sounds like this is straight up cheats to make it faster.

Meanwhile I'm watching dirt late model stock cars. Not a man in a dress in sight.

The ROM has a game-shark edited in, basically.

It's pre-programmed to start with the Mach Bike, Mach Bike works indoors, you can choose your starter out of anything, there's a special rare candy that sets your level to specific intervals (so you start at level 15, 10+ levels over everything you encounter until Gym 1, then the same for Gym 2, and so on), all text is at rocket speed, items are modified to be better (X Attack and such raise up by 2 levels), and if that isn't enough - custom moves in case the runner corners themselves.

Basically it's so modified you can hardly call it an actual speedrun and the same runner did the same run 2 months ago for another GDQ event. It's shocking to see it featured so many times when it's so much of just a meme.

Realistically why not just mod in a boss rush with all of the gym leaders just standing in a straight line.

This time has a tranny announcer making it about themselves, so it's actually worse then last time.

Why is this at a speedrun event? This just sounds like "how well can you navigate the overworld of Pokemon", a feat that isn't even remotely interesting. I remember an old Red/Blue run that was interesting solely because the player bent the entire game over his knee to force encounters to catch every single Pokemon. This is fucking nothing.

Lost the chart maker at the end, but the rankings for Pokemon were almost exclusively ZZZ or K. One of the worst runs in one of the worst GDQs.

I know it's rote to claim "Worst run, worst GDQ" but this is the truest it has ever been. This is the worst run at the worst GDQ. The only GOATED purple happening on the chart in the end was the Fire Alarm getting pulled for the second time, which saw the entire building cleared, for about 20 minutes, in the middle of a disasterclass of a final that already had the specter of running over-time looming despite cheating nearly every conceivable advantage into the game and pausing the timer frequently. All of this combined turned, what was slotted as a 2 and a half hour run, into a 4 hour and 45 minute ordeal that was "officially" counted as merely 3 hours and 12 minutes due to their frequent timer scamming so they could keep laundering money from sus anonymous thousand dollar donors. The whole thing stank to such a degree it's essentially K-ranked, with the mean/median bars well off the chart into negative territory. Absolutely shameful.

Steam version with ugly shaders, it was only to the Magus fight, which is, what, 25% of the game? Weirdo with a hotel mini-fridge for a body but wrapped in white and gold bedsheets as a Marle cosplay, which was incessantly promoted the entire fucking day by mispronouncing it as "Marley." I didn't watch it, but that's what I picked up from reading the /v/ threads at the time.
