Does the original Space Jam hold up?

I didn't think of that; yeah, I can see them just literally cobble together a bunch of shorts and then the actual animation in between is just sausage casing to hold it together. It'd be dirt cheap to assemble if you did that.

It would pretty much follow the same format as those 80s Looney Tunes compilation films, but instead of re-using clips from old shorts, make new ones that try to mimic the look and feel of the classics, like Back in Action did with the opening of their film where Bugs, Daffy and Elmer look almost identical to their classic Chuck Jones counterparts. Only issue would be is finding 2D talent that can still draw in that style in this day and age. The court room scenes would probably be CGI. But then again all these ideas sound bit too difficult for modern Hollywood to pull off.

She's crazed and, dare I say it, Looney! She fits right in, but they gave her a personality in that show, which was problematic. She's not a stronk female so that's an issue.

I’m willing to go on record to admitting that maybe I didn’t give the 2011 Looney Tunes cartoon on CN a chance since I thought the humor was a bit more adult-themed than kid-friendly. Now I’ve learned my lesson.

Why could they not have made a movie version out of this instead of a “sequel” to a Space Jam movie that took 25 years to make?

Do you mean they gave her a problematic personality, or that the fact they gave her a personality was problematic? Either option sounds plausible and probably boils down to the very same complaint. There's probably someone on twitter right now saying it's problematic that the only gurl one isn't a troon.

From what I remember, the show started off really dull and Seinfeld-esque. It wasn't until midway or near the end I think that they finally started becoming more Looney and over the top, finding a good balance between sitcom and looney formats.

I remember only watching the last episodes regularly online and liking the musical segments which felt like the closest thing to Looney Tunes.

See I really hope they don’t do just a long-form clip show. Wile E. was always a bit of a fan favorite because he’s one of the most complex characters of the entire LT ensemble - and Chuck Jones’ personal ‘creator’s pet’. If I recall correctly, as the classic era shorts went on, Wile became increasingly aware of the ‘universe’ being against him in some way - sort of like Waspinator in Beast Wars, except Wile is actually intelligent. One of Chuck Jones’ rules was that his schemes theoretically should work almost every time but there’s always some cosmic force that prevents it from happening. Plus there’s the whole addiction angle. If they were to play the film as a serious character study juxtaposed with some classic Jones-style humor that could be a winning combination. Of course, this means it probably won’t happen.

Well, so far, the communist Chinese have said “no” to LeBron’s Space Jam sequel, and with it currently available on HBO Max, which makes top-shelf pirated copies easy to create, it’s highly unlikely a China opening can save it. But, of course, thanks to pirating, my guess is that everyone in China who wants to see Space Jam: A New Legacy already has.

Speaking of Wile E.'s unique and tragic status...
Batman: Brave and the Bold once planned to make an episode based on the Animal Man comic Coyote Gospel by Grant Morrison, where a cartoon coyote parody of Wile E. is sent to the real world by his animator/father and forced to endure all sorts of bloody mutilation and suffering to bring his "people/toons" salvation. A pretty twisted story all around befitting such a tragic character as the BB&TB adaptation would've used the actual Wile E. but with no blood.

so you know Al Gorithm in the movie and how he's basically an ai meant to determine what will might or might not work in the filmmaking industry as opposed to actual storytelling, human intuition or talent? Apparently he's kinda a real thing studios like warner are actually using irl, hell alogorithms and faulty A.i are probably why SJ2 even exists at all. this guy jordan fringe sums it up better than i can

This was always my problem with Lola and why I thought the whole redesign "controversy" was stupid. She was never wacky or entertaining to watch like the other Looney Tunes other than in TLTS. As a character she's boring. I guess the internet, especially /co/, was too busy crying over how Lola in Space Jam 2 doesn't make their peepees hard anymore to realize this because they're idiots (what's rule 34?).
In Space Jam she was there to be the "girl" of the group and laugh at the silly boys while being great at everything. The 1990s had a serious "girl power" thing going on and that's why she was created, furry bait notwithstanding.

Honestly, I didn't know who they were. Still don't. The pull that Back in Action had was the Looney Tunes characters satirizing action films and their own medium. It was a fun watch; the characters were just moving the plot along.

Lola didn't have much character with being new. She was introduced in Space Jam I recall. Then her personality changed with Baby Looney Tunes into The Looney Tunes Show. I don't think she would fit into the original style of Looney Tunes. Bugs could cross-dress.
 
I always liked Brendan Fraiser as an actor and I’m glad he’s getting a bit of a resurgence after going through all that shit.
