The PlayStation 5 looks like a robot's vagina
PlayStation 5.png

I mean just look at it

There have literally been multiple reports saying otherwise.
Well what reports specifically? I mean it doesn't add up, especially looking at the release schedule for the next year or so.

I mean the playstation's release schedule would be resembling's microsofts at this point if it were true since we're years into these changes at this point. Guilty Gear strive for example broke series sales records and that was on consoles.

What does that have to do with anything? It was on PC too.

Well what reports specifically?
Okay, since you've been living under a rock for the past year and a half despite seemingly being dialed in to everything else Sony related, here's a link to the articles that talked about how Sony's new policy was first revealed to the public:

Sony doubles down on censorship policy, forcing Japanese developers to go through English inspections, censoring Japan only games
Japanese Developer Sheds More Light on Sony Censorship Scenario
New Sony Censorship Policy is Forcing Japanese Developers to Censor Themselves Even in Japan

Numerous reports have corroborated the idea that the Japanese part of the company has been completely sidelined in decision making, with the American HQ calling all the shots, even for Japan:

Microsoft Sets Sights on Sony’s Home Turf in Console Clash
Sony Japan ‘has been sidelined’ from PlayStation 5’s launch, a new report claims

And then of course there is the infamous shuttering of Japan studio, which lead to all which led to all "Localization, IP management, and external production" being moved to the global headquarters in California and its foreign subsidiaries, and out of Japan. This means that all of the localization and third party development support that normally would have been done in Japan for the benefit of Japanese third and second party studios no longer exists. Japan Studio was the primary liaison between Sony and their third party partners in Japan, as Sony themselves confirmed when they openly stated they were moving those functions to the "global functions of Playstation Studios". As this article states:

Now, again, to be very clear, the writing has been on the wall here for a while too, for those who have been observant of many smaller things here. We have heard complaints from smaller Japanese developers about being forced to submit their games for certification to PlayStation’s western headquarters, adhering to their western certification guidelines, even if they have no plans on international release; we have heard of PlayStation arbitrarily applying content restriction guidelines, such as for violent content in CyberConnect2’s Naruto games, on Japanese games; we have heard of reports regarding Sony’s strategy from anonymous insider sources, who have claimed that Sony allegedly plans on focusing on big hits as far as Japan goes, counting on the fact that mid and smaller tier Japanese games don’t have any place else to go (which is a calculation that may have started to backfire on them, given the success of the Switch and the recent underperformance of PlayStation); we have heard Sony is not supportive of smaller Japanese developers; even something as innocuous and minor as Sony forcing the western layout and functions of the X and O buttons on Japan (which are the reverse of what Japan has been used to, where O is Accept and X is cancel, in keeping with Japanese cultural symbolism of those two symbols, and the long held standards of the Japanese console market) has pointed at this.

The difficulties of dealing with Sony, and the collapse of its support for Japanese development are not new developments, if you've actually been paying attention instead of being a Sony shill.

I mean the playstation's release schedule would be resembling's microsofts at this point if it were true since we're years into these changes at this point.

Have you actually looked at Sony's release schedule? It is in no way markedly better then Microsoft's, and it especially is not better than Nintendo's. Sony themselves seemingly don't have any major releases scheduled for this year, with all the big titles years away. Playstation's release schedule is nothing to write home about. And in any case, even if major third parties are able to keep up with a consistent release schedule, it doesn't mean minor studios and companies are.

It’s more like "the Marissa Moira cope thread" at this point, because sweet Christ: the autism just flows from them every time this thing gets bumped.
More than 150 posts of Marissa Moira (likely around 200) in this thread alone.
We're exceeding levels of autism that shouldn't be possible.

Okay, since you've been living under a rock for the past year and a half despite seemingly being dialed in to everything else Sony related
He knows very well about that because the topic has been brought up many times before, he decides to either downplay and damage-control any event that could put SIE and Playstation into a bad light (while being on a prowl if Steam and Nintendo are seen doing the same things). The mistake is to imply Marissa Moira is ever honest about anything.

Japan Studio closing? duh, it was a studio that barely developed games, with low global sales, and Asobi is totally japanese!
SIE censoring japanese games even within japanese soil? That's totally okay dude, they deserved to be censored for being bad coomer games after all
oh but the Senran Kagura x Neptunia game is totally fine by my book, because it absolutely proves sony is okay for them now!
the X/O scheme is nothing more than a conspiracy theory from game journalists!

@The Demon Pimp of Razgriz

All those articles you linked are from 2018 and for the Microsoft ones those didn't pan out either.

The stuff from 2018 would have already had an effect on releases. But we didn't get a decrease in japanese releases in the 3 years since then.

Based on what exactly? You keep spewing bullshit without evidence or proof, while weakly attempting to handwave away when people actually present you with evidence and facts that show that your opinion is shit (either that or you just ignore it entirely). It doesn't work Marissa; other people can read the entire thread too and you just look like an ass.

And how in the world is any of that relevant? You wanted articles? I gave your ass articles. Once again, you bringing up irrelevant points to dismiss things just makes you look like an ass because anyone with two brain cells can see right through it.

Dude you can look up PS4 and PS5 releases and separate them from genre

Take for example a yearly release like Neptunia, they're not only kept putting out PS4 versions since that time, they've now moved over to PS5.
Legend of Heroes, they're spreading out 5 new games around 2023 for the PS4 and PS5
Soulsborne games, we already have DES out for the PS5 and Elden Ring comes in January with more supposedly rumored
Final Fantasy, 7R Intergrade, Part 2, and 16 are all limited exclusivity for the PS5
Tales of Arise just came out
Atelier put out Nelke, Ryza, Ryza 2, multi-game compilations of previous games and none of these skipped the ps4
Monster Hunter World Iceborne was released for the PS4
Dragon Quest 11 was released for the PS4
Trials of Mana and Legend of Mana both released for the PS4
Hell we have all 3 Utawererumono games and the two Zan games for Playstation

these are all games that were released in western countries form 2018 onward.

We've witnessed an increase in japanese titles since the the regulations and changes went into place.

Also the Senran KaguraXNeptunia game is being made by Compile Heart and published by idea Factory. Now I still have a less than favorable view on Compile Heart mostly due to their low effort releases. But if the lowest of the low are somehow putting out games, how can these restrictions be all that major? This is 3 years into it and stuff is already known two years out. That would mark 5 years and there's still no exodus or decrease of these titles from playstation systems.

If there was somehow going to be a lack of Japanese games for playstation it would have happened already.

Practically all of those games are:

1) Major titles from major third party publishers, not the indie Japanese titles most affected by Sony's policy shifts.
2) Remakes, re-releases, ports, multiplats, etc.

this thread in a nutshell:
vaas.jpg

It did affect games as well such as Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet or Omega Labyrinth Life for example, once again within the japanese soil.
The SIE regulations are yet to be officially scrapped off and there are no written rules (that could become more draconian in the future) as stated by japanese devs, hence why it's bullshit.
don't forget we only know about the policy in the first place because sony was caught pants down forcing those changes on titles where people could compare it, for games in development we can probably assume it's part of a nda in the publishing deal so it doesn't generate bad PR in the future (I think 1-2 devs came out and implied as much).

but then it's not censorship if companies have to do it themselvest to be allowed on psn, right?

No shit that's the vast majority of Japanese games.

Japanese indies in the states and bongland go through companies like Limited Run now for physical releases regardless of platform and this goes for Nintendo and Playstation. They have a higher release number of Japanese titles than companies like NIS or Xseed. Granted some series like Fallen legion came to LRG first and then NIS picked up the sequel. But these smaller western places are specializing in numerous japanese releases.

hell if you doubt me, look up what eastasiasoft has put out for playstation, they're games made by like 3 people. And they're on PS4 and PS5.

That was just for Kiseki.

If the Japanese sales figures meant anything major worldwide I wouldn't have had to import many PSP and Vita titles which got their global releases cut because the systems did pisspoor worldwide. Fuck my saturn library is around 75 Japanese games alone.

If you want the current state of Japan all the buildings are covered in ads for Chinese Mobile games because given a choice that's what these people play.

From what I’ve noticed, it either ranges to downplaying Sony’s shit or going full-blown scorched earth on the IP itself.
The only time I’ve ever seen them agree on Sony’s studios fucking up in any significant way was with them practically disowning Naughty Dog over the absolute trashfire that was The Last of Us: Part II.

And even then, in seemingly every instance people rightfully shat on Naughty Dog in that thread thereafter, they’d deflect it and say Insomniac and Santa Monica are Sony’s new big studios and that Naughty Dog has been replaced by Insomniac now (despite them releasing an Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy port for PC). Granted Naughty Dog haven’t given updates on their future projects or TLoU2 multiplayer, but I wouldn’t say they’re doing nothing or that Sony has just straight up given another studio the reigns as their quintessential forerunner; Insomniac making a lot of games at the moment doesn’t mean shit when those games have been in development for years before The Last of Us. A happy coincidence and the result of a planned marketing push to temper reactions to TLoU2? Yeah sure, I can buy that. A fully calculated plan by Sony to try and stop Naughty Dog from ever seeing the light of day in game creation again after they dare besmirch their record with that game? Not a chance in hell: Neil’s already doing that fine enough with studio crunch and a horrific studio environment as it is without Sony’s influence.

It’s just one extreme or the other. It’s partially why I haven’t kept up with this thread for a bit, because any civil discussion on Sony is just drowned out in fanboyism and headcanoning. It’s like it’s a tick, like the thread merely existing makes them seethe and I don’t get it. Cuz like AnOminous pointed out, everywhere else he’s chill.

Like, he said back in TLoU2 thread that this is part of some big trolling act he’s got going on, but even for a gag this is some “I was only pretending to be retarded” levels of cope going on.
lmao the level of fucking retard cope you need to cite korean polls and ignore japanese sales charts which are actual hard data of PS4 and PS5 completely dropping out of existence
“No but see you don’t get it: the Japanese sales don’t count! Well, y’know, they do but Japan’s business aren’t needed anyway when they’re in California. BUT THEY’RE NOT leaving their Japan audience in the dust, like look at all of these developers they have! That they’re censoring sure, but Nintendo and Steam do it too and are JUST as bad! Except when they’re not but look California isn’t changing Sony, like look at GoW: Ragnarok for their new direction! See it’s cool because fat Thor and the Egyptian African women technically existed in those times too, and are totally accurate. Because I said so. Like look at their jewelry, except not THAT jewelry and-“

Repeat ad nauseam and cycle back to the first point. It’s all so tiresome.

None of that has anything to do with the main point which was Sony's policies in regards to Japanese developers and how they are negatively effecting them. No matter who those companies go to to localize or even if they aren't localizing at all, they still have to go through SIE to get their content out on Playstation, or else skip the console entirely. Nothing you said goes against that at all. Relative release schedules be damned.

Among nearly 12 million of (physical) console game sales reached so far, 91-92% are Switch's, ~7% for PS4 and 1.5% for PS5. There is also the sheer amount of third-parties actually making appearance and in better health on Switch's side rather than the PS ecosystem, in the Famitsu Weekly Top 30.
And this is not to mention the Top 30 in Japan's video game sales charts were nothing but Switch games for two weeks in a row.
No platform has achieved this since the late 80s. Simply put, you can't achieve this unless you literally have no competition. It's a less a testament to Nintendo's success and more to Sony's utter failure in the market after doing everything to sideline it. And a 30/30 Switch is highly likely to happen again during this fourth quarter of the year.

From what I’ve noticed, it either ranges to downplaying Sony’s shit or going full-blown scorched earth on the IP itself.
The only time I’ve ever seen them agree on Sony’s studious fucking up in any significant way was with them practically disowning Naughty Dog over the absolute trashfire that was The Last of Us: Part II.

And even then, in seemingly every instance people rightfully shit on Naughty Dog in that thread, they’ll deflect it and say Insomniac and Santa Monica are Sony’s new studios and that Naughty Dog has been replaced by Insomniac now, despite them releasing an Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy port for PC.

It’s just one extreme or the others, it’s partially why I haven’t kept up with this thread for a bit, because any civil discussion on Sony is just drowned out in fanboyism and headcanoning.

It's annoying too as if it's done on purpose to hijack and sabotage the thread(s), and it's always the same guy doing it.
Also coming from the same guy who claim to import japanese games but also previously said that learning japanese to play imports is for "retards and soon-to-be-trannies"

Fuck me, I knew a lot of PlayStation’s Japanese sales weren’t doing so hot next to their contemporaries as it was, but goddamn: it doesn’t really hit ya until you put it side-by-side like that.

Fair, it’s no wonder consoles aren’t doing so hot in Japan next to a handheld hybrid when the majority of the population is shifting towards mobile, on-the-go gaming, but you’d think Sony would invest way more into that space than they did instead of floundering about with the Vita.

Dude it is, what do you think LAN Ethernet ports are? I mean that's why they're called the female end.
If you think this is what ethernet ports are for; this probably explains why you were having trouble understanding that the PS3 doesn’t need special networking server hardware on the back end at the data center.
