Microsoft is locking down exclusive deals from big PC games series to the tiniest thing like patches and stuff for PC, rest of snoyfaggot rant snipped.
You got a source for this crap about PC games on steam not getting patches or the same quality of patches that the ones on the microsoft store will be getting? I find that rather doubtful, I'd be more inclined to believe either exclusivity or timed-exclusivity to the MS Store and MS platforms in general instead.

Yes actually

It's an exclusive PC port all patched up and working just for the MS Store, this is just the first of many to come that will be like this. This is microsoft's strategy for getting the new store established on PC, it will get preferential performance and patch treatment that will remain for their platform only.

I'm pretty sure it's not that MS is paying Square to not patch the Steam version and moreso that they had to get someone to port over Nier to the Xbox store and got QLOC to do it, which is a company that's pretty prolific in their technical skills when it comes to porting. Doubt they could do anything about the Steam version since that's all on Square being lazy shitheads when it comes to anything without Final or Quest in it's name.

They're still paying companies to fix their games for their PC store only even if it's not Square themselves. But Microsoft has been arranging deals with Square Enix and it's looking like Steam is going to be left out in the cold for a lot of stuff in the future. There's also Epic that's getting exclusive distribution rights for SE games IIRC.

I think the next game is Evil Within that's getting Microsoft exclusive features.

The features for Evil Within is actually a weird thing because they're not actually new (at least as far as the first person mode goes), they were apparently in the Bethesda launcher version this entire time, which tells you how many people actually ever used the Bethesda launcher.

Japan doesn't play consoles though and are almost entirely been doing handhelds. The PS4 and PS5 didn't do well not because of any company policy, it's because the hardware isn't portable. All those things you cited are hot takes from japanese twitter which are about as reliable as /pol's social media takes. The majority of Japanese developers go with consoles because they're a much larger market outside of japan to begin with. Koreans, Chinese, and Westerners outnumber all japanese purchases by a large margin, they're also all way larger markets. The only reason why companies like Capcom, Atlus and Fromsoft did as well as they did was due to the non-japanese. Companies like Falcom have also been risen to prominence and their series have become mainstays in western RPG canon as well.
The whole narrative that Japan has left consoles behind because they're so obsessed with mobile is just a narrative pushed by salty Sonyfags (like you) who don't want to admit that the japanese are just tired of Playstation in particular.

The fucking Wii U was outselling Playstation on launch. Now imagine if the WiiU was actually a good system, it could have sold noticeably much better. Even if the Switch wasn't an handheld, it would have been still a success in Japan. Would it have sold less? Certainly so, but it would have been a good success anyway. Probably not breaking all records like the actual Switch is doing right now but probably around the Famicom (NES / SNES) numbers at least. The PS4 still managed to outsell the Vita in Japan (the sole country that truly gave a shit about the Vita) in spite of not being a handheld either, again disproving your fanfiction.

You can't blame casuals or mobile/handhelds whenever a competitor outperforms Playstation. If Sony managed to pull another PS1 or PS2 then Playstation would instantly make into the top sales charts again in spite of it not being handheld. The thing is that the Playstation no longer has that kind of appeal or provided anything even close to what it did. The PS3 has been the closest thing since it had at least a small portion of the library that were varied AA stuff like the PS1 and PS2 had in abundance. But the PS4 was poorer in comparison and the PS5 was already confirmed by the suits in SIE to have nothing but AAA releases with retarded hollywoodian budgets.

Meanwhile the Switch does have a big catalog of AA stuff the japanese crave for. And coincidentally, it's also the kind of game content that is topping the game software charts.

And yes, a multitude of those recent screw-ups within the PS brand is going to have an impact as a whole and in the long run, no matter how much you try to personally deny them out of fanboyism.

Aww man, this is disappointing as fuck. The visuals took a noticeable dip after looking crisp as fuck on PS4, now it looks like the PS3 game again! Hope the Switch is region free so I can keep playing this series. It's the best combination of arcade and simulation. Okay, that's enough spergery from me.
The Switch is region-free.

No you're 100% dead wrong on that, japan is primarily mobile games. They really don't do consoles ever anymore and that's primarily due to cultural differences in Japanese society, they're not at home in the traditional fashion that Americans are. Mobile games are simply more convenient for that lifestyle because Japan basically treats the outside as a communal living room that's kinda the cultural norm over there which was why they took off there. The Wii-U was drastically outsold by the portable nintendo handhelds. Which was why Nintendo attempted to combine the two with the switch so they didn't need to divert resources to two systems where the handheld was the primary for one market and the secondary for everything else.

What you cite as reasons is pretty much stuff from clickbait articles because people don't personify stuff like that over there.

To deny Japan's obsession with mobile games is like denying that America has burgers or South Korea and Brood Wars.

They've had ups and downs, the PS1 was cool, the PS2 was their peak, the PS3 on the other hand was a mixed bag, there was definitely some stand outs like the Uncharted series and God of War 3, but overall the PS3 was never as good as Sony had hyped it up to be.

I thought the PS4 actually brought back a lot of the PS2 magic at least for a while, then Last of Us 2 happened alongside Sony going Woke in general and declaring jihad on anime titties (I'll never forget the SJW butthurt I encountered on a certain gaming forum when I complained about that)

I've heard good things about Ghosts of Tsushima, which sounds like it could be Sony's swansong, at least for me, I'm in no rush to get a PS5.

This, while troubling, does not support your claim that all future ports will be like this. This seems to be something that Platinum Games themselves requested for the latest port for the MS Store. Is there an official announcement from Microsoft that this will be the new policy somewhere that I missed?

Failing that, do you have anything to support your assertion that this will be the new state of affairs for PC games from this point forward? Or are you desperately flailing, looking for anything to make Snoy's competition look as bad or worse because you don't like it when people mock and insult them in this thread?

That's at least half true. The thing about Japanese households is typically there's only one TV set so families are going to fight over the same TV. 3DS, Wii U, Switch, PSP and Vita held up well over there because it allowed them to play without a set and the remote play function of the PSP and Vita allowed them to play their PS3s/4s remotely (not sure how this works with PSP but apparently it's still a thing). It's also the reason why XBOX was never popular there. But I'm not disagreeing about them being fed up with Playstation since the PS5 isn't carrying anything they would care for at the moment.

Yeah Japan doesn't really seem to care about the Soulsborne games. But you're going to have to look way way way back for a launch year for any system that wasn't like this. I mean the Switch's big launch game was a wii-u title that was in development for 5+ years, that's kinda the only way you get any type of somewhat solid game out for launch is stuff that's a holdover from a prior generation.

I mean it was better than what the PS4 had at launch but you're not hitting that sweet spot that was the Genesis, SNES, N64 launches that had brand new top quality games ready to go right from the get-go.

My big question is what the fuck happened to the middle market, which was the best thing about the original PlayStation. Gaming became either AAA shit fests or Indie dick sucking sessions, pretty much exclusively. My only guess is that in the USA the gaming journos killed it by ignoring it completely, while Japan got addicted to soulless gacha for the waifus and can't be bothered to support actual good games.

Sony decided that Japan was no longer their main focus and that their content should not cater to a Japanese audience ( if this isn't a indictment to the nature of corporations being globalists entities, I don't know what is) instead Sony pledge allegiance at the woke progressive Western mainstream as the new target market and to no one's surprise, their content went to shit.

Japanese developers no longer want to publish their games in PlayStation hardware either because of the censorship hypocrisy imposed by Sony to anime titty inspired games all the while allowing buttugly tranny buttfuck sex scenes in "The Trash of Woke 2: Joel's Golf Tour Edition". No wonder the PlayStation brand is now worthless in the Japanese market and Switch is eating their breakfast, lunch and dinner because Nintendo had the epyphany of not censoring content made by third party developers.

Yeah this whole narrative is wrong and has a lot of holes in it.

First off Japan started going hard into mobile at around 2006-2008, many smaller japanese devs switched then and a ton of the games they used to make either became gatcha faggotry or just flat out died.

Second Japanese publishers never jumped ship. People will cite the NekoPara VN publishers sunlight bullshit but they are still publishing stuff for the PS4 and PS5 even as recent as last month.

Thirdly people keep citing naughty dog bullshit but Ghosts of Tsushima was devoid of anything like that mostly because the woke bullshit came from ND themselves and not sony as a whole.

Portable games in Japan do better than consoles because the lifestyle there is more geared towards it, being that Japan is the only market like this, most of the larger japanese devs can't even bring their stuff to the switch due to how limited the hardware is. Also the switch's hardware is non-linear which means many Japanese devs are entirely reliant on non-japanese markets. A recent example is Capcom's sales numbers for Monster Hunter Rise are half as much as world did, which means it fell below expectations because they increased their earnings expectations to exceed what world did, but it only pulled half. Now that's currently a switch timed exclusive with an eventual release to other platforms at a later date, World was the same way when it came to PS4. Majority of nintendo's earnings come from western markets as well, but they tend to only opt for the Nintendo first party titles and will ignore most other titles. Every major japanese RPG franchise on the switch suffered a similar fate because motherfuckers just wanted Pokemon and only Pokemon.

Sony, and most, if not all, Japanese companies, like Capcom, Square Enix, etc, all have a predictable formula of being complete shitbags when they're high on success and winning, and then working really hard to redeem themselves when they're failing and have dishonored their family. What people need to do is keep Japanese in a constant state of shame, even when they're doing well, so that they continue to do well.

That's something I have unfortunately noticed is when Sony has a streak of success they get real fucking arrogant and need to be brought down a peg, they sure were arrogant in the lead up to the PS3, if you remember things like the Liksang controversy, "599 US dollars", "Riiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaaaaaacer!", "get a second job", "All want for Christmas is mah PEE ESS PEE" and so on, making it to where everyone and their grandmother fucking hated Sony and wanted the PS3 to fail.

I was afraid history was going to repeat itself once the PS4 started to age and I knew we were getting closer to the PS5, I was like "watch them become arrogant assholes again" and sure enough I seem to be right, now it's Sony going Woke and thinking it's appropriate for Druckmann to put a flat out racist message in his game, "Riiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaaaaaaaacer!" indeed.

Sucks that it seems like we're in a "every other generation" deal with Sony, how long till there's going to be a PS6 lol?

But you're right that this isn't just a Sony thing but a Japanese thing in general, I definitely worry about Capcom going to shit again after they've been on a hot streak for a while, I hope RE8 isn't another peak before we have to deal with years of mostly garbage again.

I cannot speak for walkmans but discmans sucked; they were bulky, would skip really often, most couldn't play CD-R's and were similar to Google glass, where using them in public was a clear "come mug me" sign.

None of my classmates ever brought their discmans to school because of how inconvenient they were.
I had a Car Discman that was a normal portable but played mp3 data discs too, pretty sturdy about skipping, but it was designed (or at least advertised) to work well about skipping, never any issues about cd-rs. Came as a kit with a cig lighter power supply and a cassette adapter. I don't think it ever stopped working, I just left it at my parents' place when I moved out.
poor little guy. ;_;
they will force the X O button change
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It won't affect us as Westerners but my heart goes to the Japbros who have to deal with this bullshit.
it won't really affect me either way since I haven't played anything beyond the PSP but still that's some bullshit
