'this character is a lesbian
'have I mentioned this character is a lesbian?"
'she is in no way attracted to Logan, or any man for that matter'
'please do not read the actual comics so you can find out whether or not that's a total lie'
Here's the HD version.

This is actually done in the comics with a bitch named Destiny, & it might have been the most shamelessly pathetic attempts of Marvel comics being woke. Yes, even more so than the legacy torchbearers they tried to shove in (Miles Morales, America Chavez, RiRi Williams, etc.) & Krakoa's existence. They even had a trailer for this special issue:
People fucking hated this btw, just look at the dislikes of the video if you know how to. Hell, they were removing comments & still could've remove all of them.
This video by Moe Schmo does a surface-level deep dive into it:
2 things the video doesn't get into was:

1: Claremont wanted this shit since the 80s (yeah, X-MEN were almost always badly written when Claremont wrote them, 2000s being the best example). Yet didn't even get to write the special where his wish comes true.

2: This was release in June (to no one's surprise), & was essentially damage control for their pride allies bullshit & the pride adverts controversy they had an year before this.

For those who have no idea, Mystique is a hard cunt, & one of the worst mothers in Marvel to the point it's actually considered one of the reasons which makes Nightcrawler the nicest male X-MEN,
Until they ruin him too ofc, fucking Krakoa.

She's so bad that her marriage special issue (mentioned in the Moe Schmo video above) has literally even the comic itself asking (through Anole) "are we just supposed to forget everything cause she's a dyke now?" & "our queer rep is a mass murderer" which gets disregarded by Logan right after that one speech bubble. It has her victims attending (Dazzler, Carol Danvers, Logan, Kurt, etc.) & celebrating it.

Moe Schmo also made a video on the new game too.
To be entirely fair, wasn't Mystique supposed to be Nightcrawler's father, who turned herself into a man and impregnated her lesbian lover? Chris Claremont came up with the idea and Marvel, for decades, thought that it was so retarded that they refused to implement the idea until CURRENT YEAR when some idiot decided that no idea was too retarded for Marvel + woke good boy points for the whole transgenderism/hermaphrodite thing
Legends say that Synthetic Man entered the Marvel Comics office with a subtlety of a Killdozer, screamed "FUTANARI" on the top of his lungs with all his heart & soul & manifested it.

But yes, Chris Claremont suddenly retconned, an already retconned story, into a futa impregnation fanfic. He was her & Azrael's son.
They did this to Black Cat too. Making every slightly-sexual woman a dyke is the 2026 version of safe horny. If she's still somehow straight, then you better believe she's wearing baggy pants and a jacket 100% of the time. And she looks like John Cena, obviously.
They also turned her into a dyke with Mary Jane, who's Venom (VenoMJ) now. I think Peter died or something.
Sony decided to DMCA a mod for the PC port of TLOU 2 that aimed to recreate the 4v4 multiplayer mode from the first game.

(tweet)(archive)

On one hand, the DMCA justification seems to stem from the fact that the creator put a beta behind a Patreon paywall, which is 100% a valid reason for Sony to take issue with it. On the other hand, I think it's especially ironic considering TLOU 2 has no multiplayer, the servers for TLOU 1 were shut down years ago, the remake of TLOU 1 removed it entirely, and Sony already cancelled the online-only spinoff they announced a while back.

The weirdest part is the comments full of people outright shitting on the mod makers:

Not surprising considering what they did to the Bloodborne PC emulated port.
Boy i sure hope someone at Insomniac got fired for this blunder
MlZnjdP_g4udqWoE.mp4

several years in development btw, and they couldn't even fix the easiest vehicle fuckup when coding.
70$ AAA game everyone:

What they did to Wolverine in this game is massacre his character in such way that they basically made him a bordeline faggot. Mind you, actual wolverine, at least in the comics hes an asshole, impulsive and prone to violence but when he wants to, he can be a pillar of support and occasionally spits facts and/or wisdom. Yet somehow they made him a soycuck that is well mannered at all times, gets angry like a sissy and somehow they made him super nice. Basically a contrast to his character.
I was watching a comp of some cutscenes on youtube with Mister Sinister (which by the way, it feels like they were presenting him being a villain as a twist for some stupid reason even though he's a bigtime villain in the comics), and there were so many different instances in which I expected Wolverine to just attack him impulsively because what he was doing was beyond the pale, yet the faggot just stood there and watched him do horrific acts like letting loose a Sentinel on the public. Robot's just turning people to stone and making mutants either go berserk or get consumed by their own power, yet Logan's just standing there doing nothing despite Mister Sinister being within stabbing distance.

The plot of the Spiderman games was already shit, but it's like they all lost a couple dozen IQ points since 2 somehow.

Ps1 made gaming too mainstream and cool. It was socially retarded nerds and jrpgs until it became madden madden madden. Nerdy nerd is nerding.
You what, mate? I've never known gaming not to be mainstream, even before PS1
Nintendo was too arrogant to shift to CDs and it cost them two generations.
To be entirely fair, weren't CDs Sony's proprietary format? As in, they would have had to pay Sony a cut of every game they manufactured

I actually LIKED Debra Wilson, as she was the glue in those early years of Mad TV that held the show together. And her parody of Whitney Houston embodied how toothless SNL was making fun of people and his Mad TV had way more bite in its comedy.
She and MadTV shared the same curse. Hell, maybe it's just a generalized MadTV curse and I'm only blaming it on Debra Wilson because I fucking hate seeing her in literally every game that wants a bug-eyed mocapped nigger in it. MadTV had moments of genuine brilliance and top-tier comedy. Moments. Not whole episodes or seasons. Just certain skits. The rest ... holy fucking shit.
Most of MadTV's comedy "material," however, consisted of the same madlib pattern (see what I did there?) with different elements filling in the blanks: an obnoxious, "quirky" recurring character bumbles into an otherwise perfectly normal scene with (mostly) reasonable people doing ordinary things, and -- oblivious to how fucking irritating they are to everyone around them -- tries and fails to either emulate what they see or engage in the setting's normal activity (buy groceries, pick up dry cleaning, order dinner, arrange a funeral, etc.) because they're too oblivious, arrogant and just plain stupid to understand.

It was just this endless pattern of "dumbass can't handle basic shit in the real world and frustrates everyone around him/her and nobody can do much because they don't want to get fired/shamed/dumped, etc. and the annoying struggle of everyone in the scene not to just kill the stupid motherfucker is comedic enough to justify 10+ seasons of this shit for some god damn reason."

I thought as I wrote the above maybe I was just stretching things a bit and exaggerating, but I went and looked at a list of MadTV recurring characters and no, I really wasn't. Their "stable" of quirky recurring characters were mostly obnoxious cunts:
  • Stuart Larkin (the "dooooooon't" and "stop iiiiiiit!" whiny kid played by Michael McDonald) -- (genuinely) retarded idiot man-child, forever coddled by his eternally doting idiot mother, who can't do anything himself, gets angry at attempts to help him, kicks anyone near him, etc.
  • Bunny Swan ("Ms. Swan", played by Alex Borstein) -- incapable of ever giving a direct or coherent answer to any question, can't follow directions and is generally stupid and insufferable
  • Bunifa Latifah Halifah Sharifa Jackson (Debra Wilson) -- the ultimate annoying nigger character herself; JFC I had no idea this was the stupid thing's name in the show until I saw it on the Fandom wiki as I looked this shit up, holy fucking shit
  • Dot Goddard (Stephnie Weir) -- just going to quote the wiki here: "a scattered-brained, neglected, gum-chewing seven-year-old girl with a big imagination and a passion for obsessively wearing gloves and mittens" (17 appearances of this delightful character, btw)
  • Yvoone Criddle (Daniele Gaither) -- another obnoxious nigger character, "an insane, evil woman who speaks with a monotone voice. Yvoone takes severe revenge on people who do small things to her. She has no regard for common decency and displays extreme responses to the most minor inconveniences, trying to justify her actions"
  • Loretta (Daniele Gaither) -- An Yvoone clone they used for non-criminality skits: a "put-upon black woman with a nicotine addiction; in 'Taco Hell' it was revealed she had herpes."
  • Vancome Lady (Nicole Sullivan) -- "a mean-spirited, emotionally abusive woman who follows most racial stereotypes, and receives enjoyment out of insulting others"
  • Trina Moss (Mo Collins) -- "described as optimistic, energetic, and quirky" despite actually being viciously depressed, lonely, and desperate for human contact, and astonishingly obnoxious
  • Lorraine Swanson (Mo Collins) -- "a sturdy, older, mentally-challenged midwestern woman from Fridley, Minnesota, who has a penchant for musing over the mundane and unintentionally annoying people"
  • Ka-Son (Nicole Randall Johnson) -- yet another obnoxious nigger: "she’s temperamental with her signature long nails and is a grandmother despite not looking as old a a typical grandmother would."
Fuck's sake this is just a laundry list of asshole stereotypes and it's practically all MadTV had in its lineup of recurring characters.

SNL was boring and milquetoast most of the time, but at least their recurring characters were entertaining, along with their shticks (Alex Trebek and Sean Connery's ongoing "rivalry" on Celebrity Jeopardy!, for example). You can accuse SNL of plenty -- mostly being boring and milquetoast, along with Lorne Michaels' famously poor choices along the way as show runner, but MadTV went out of its way to fucking annoy me, whereas the worst SNL ever did was bore me or get preachy.

They'll swear blind it doesn't and that they don't care but you can see it in all the third parties pulling away and all the articles crying about how hard first party Devs worked
Yeah, you can really tell quickly what's getting under their skin by the day's lügenpresse output. Once faggots like Jason Schreier or the obvious shill outlets like Kotaku or Polygon start whining about something "gamers" are doing, that's how you know a nerve's really been struck.

Shame he decided to paywall it, because otherwise he could have counter-claimed and told Sony to eat shit and die or take him to court.

Clean-room implementations of functionality that never existed in the original product have generally withstood even rather heavy-handed DMCA assaults. If you've written something from scratch that adds to an existing product and your "thing" doesn't include any assets, resources or other copyright-protected material, and it only works with that specific existing product, and you're not charging for it, the DMCA doesn't apply since you're not redistributing anything you don't own, you're not competing with a feature the vendor also provides (or circumventing access controls, since there aren't any access controls on something that doesn't exist before you create it), and you're not potentially diverting revenue from the original vendor.

There's a small possibility that Blu-ray becoming public domain by the end of 2029 will cause a resurgence in Blu-ray popularity.
I certainly hope so. There's still a place for high-density(ish) optical data storage. 100GB on a CD-sized platter sure wasn't bad, even at $2 a piece. There sure ain't much out there for the home BDXL archival enthusiast.

Not to mention the fucking PSP games that nobody played

Hey now, I put a ridiculous amount of time on Portable Ops online and with friends on the bus ride home. We were some of the last stops going home and the first stops in the morning, so we had plenty of time to play. Calling To The Night is one of my favorite pieces of music from Metal Gear.

Jesus, 19 years ago.

I wish we could have seen more of Null aka Frank Jaeger, aka Grey Fox. Raiden has taken over as the poster boy cyber ninja of the series, but it's always nice to see the original getting some love. Retcons and lore inconsistentencies aside, still a cool rendition of the character.

Good.
People should be shitting on those gormless faggots, even if they are shitting on them for all the wrong reasons.

Fucking with IP means you have to act like the Eye of Sauron is blazing over your shoulder.

If you want to do it, there are very simple rules to it.

Rule 1: We don't talk about infringing on IP
Rule 2: We DON'T TALK about infringing on IP
Rule 3: Once your project is done, release it on the net so it can propagate (Can't stop the signal)
Rule 4: There is no profit, you do it for the love of the game (literal or metaphorical)

Advertising that you are creating a product based on someone else's IP and charging money for access to it is the easiest office day for any lawyer they have on staff.

I suppose, but CDs cost about a buck to press, Sony having to share that with Phillips, and N64 cartridges cost more than $20. Hindsight and all that, but having a 20x manufacturing cost for a tenth of the capacity wipes away what benefits there are for load times and not giving your competitor a couple quarters per game.

There is something to be said for not engaging in any business transactions whatsoever with a direct competitor, especially one that aggressively fucked you over during a previous attempted collaboration. Several things, in fact, all of them good. Only one of them is "it saves us $0.25 per copy of the game in licensing fees to Sony."

It's entirely possible Sony could/would have "played along" with Nintendo long enough for Nintendo to develop a console designed around CD-ROM instead of cartridges, then fucked with Nintendo's licensing terms or whatever at the last second to jack up the license fees, per-unit cost, or just straight up said "oh gosh sorry, no, your license is revoked, real shame about that new console you just built that uses our format, shucky-darn, better luck next time bro."

That doesn't even get into patent litigation (something Nintendo is quite familiar with themselves, being dickwads with their own patents), embargoes and trade bans, etc.

Engaging in any kind of licensing arrangement with Sony would have likely been seen as a completely unacceptable existential risk to Nintendo (and, given Sony was still a Japanese company at the time, and Japanese businessmen are nothing if not vindictive, this would have been a completely accurate risk assessment and a genuine possibility).

Its not just "CDs", it was optical disk media in general. Those hard plastic disks that the DD worked on, alone, would have more than halved the cost of cart production since it was just the plastic parts and a disk, without the chips. Or look at the Famicom Disk System, which was equivalent to floppy disks. And, of course, its not like Sega, notably, used CDs on Saturn and Sony considered them to be just as much a competitor as Nintendo, if not more so, when launching Playstation.

If Sony tried pulling that shit it would have fucked them harder than a $10,000 whore. If Sony played games with Nintendo, it would have signaled to every other company that they would eventually be as well, from hardware manufacturers, to music companies, to software distributors. Even in the 80s Sony was making more than a billion a year in licensing, and back then, even with how spiteful the Japs are, they wouldn't have fucked with a revenue stream that printed cash risk-free.

It's very likely that the reason why Sony has chosen to drop Blu-ray for Playstation at this time is that their Blu-ray patents are about to expire.

I wonder if they'll stop updating the PS3 when their patent expires, as the last few updates have only been for bluray key updates (as Sony updates the via console fw updates instead of grabbing them from the internet like other bluray players(?)

outside of these, I can't remember when the last significant update was for the console

And, of course, its not like Sega, notably, used CDs on Saturn and Sony considered them to be just as much a competitor as Nintendo, if not more so, when launching Playstation.
Sega didn't have bad blood with Sony because Sega tried to collaborate with them on a disk add-on and the deal went bad.

Also, lol at Sega being more of a competitor to Nintendo. Sega Saturn was DOA. Sega was very quickly becoming irrelevant in the console market

I actually LIKED Debra Wilson, as she was the glue in those early years of Mad TV that held the show together. And her parody of Whitney Houston embodied how toothless SNL was making fun of people and his Mad TV had way more bite in its comedy. But she's really let herself go physically and her video game work is very subpar.
The thing is if people like her they just make her worse. People myself included liked her as Cere in jedi fallen order so they decided to crank it up by making her bald and having her almost beat Darth Vader in a 1 on 1 light saber duel despite the fact he threw her into a ditch like she was a candy wrapper at the end of the first game. Luckily she gets murked but still

Sega beat Sony to market and, believe it or not, actually came in second in Japan with Saturn. Competing with them was what led to Sony's famous price announcement mic-drop moment at E3 95(?). They were absolutely viewed as serious competition during the initial development and release of Playstation. And yet they still did nothing in regards to messing with CD licensing. You're really out in left field if you think they would have messed with Nintendo over it.

actually came in second in Japan with Saturn
Because the Saturn, unlike the N64, actually had a lot of JRPGs and games Japanese gamers liked to play. It sold horribly everywhere else, though. It was a huge misfire not to have an original Sonic game on there
They were absolutely viewed as serious competition during the initial development and release of Playstation.
And then both of them came out and the Saturn was like a wet fart and that was it
You're really out in left field if you think they would have messed with Nintendo over it.
I'm not the one who said that. All I said was Nintendo weren't about to pay their competitor to licence their proprietary format after they'd just screwed them over on the whole disk add-on deal

It’s like how 20th Century Fox needed to tolerate Marilyn’s causal promiscuous behavior despite them fuming in board rooms. What will they do, pull her billing from a movie? Good luck with that, people want Marilyn Monroe. Of course, Marilyn was not the bombshell in her personal life, she was just outgoing. Anyway, Sony tolerated Kojima because he brought eyes for PlayStation.
Really a solid analogy.

Another bit needs to also be remembered: When Kojima and Konami parted ways, Kojima had been their cash cow for quite a while, easily their single most economically powerful creator under their banner. However Konami went into a hilariously, outright jarringly stupid direction: following market trends, parts of its board became convinced that mobile was the platform of the future, and it went all in on that.

The end result: Konami's insane fracas with pachinko machines, and all of its franchises being left, functionally, to rot in the hands of studios that had no business touching its IPs, as well as functionally driving Kojima out after the Silent Hills debacle. A smarter company that was not Konami would have realized the draw that shit would have had, and played the room accordingly, but Konami's execs made a series of monumentally stupid decisions that they've only reversed course on relatively recently.

In all likelihood, Konami's execs really bought into the hype about mobile being this infinite money cheat, though naturally that turned out to have not been the case.

All this Kojima talk reminds me that I still need to go through the MGS games. And I might as well ask here: A friend who is a huge fan says that I should start with MGS3 but I tend to read that MGS1 is the best place to start and that one seems like the better pick but I am not sure.

It's very likely that the reason why Sony has chosen to drop Blu-ray for Playstation at this time is that their Blu-ray patents are about to expire. Blu-ray was originally invented because Sony wished that they had sole monopolistic control over DVD (they agreed to share ownership to avoid the kind of format war that killed Betamax). They expected it would take over the world like DVD did, and are abandoning it now that it has no chance to make them kings of the world. This is likely also the reason why Xbox is not abandoning Blu-ray yet, it's going to become a better deal for them once they no longer need to pay a Sony license. There's a small possibility that Blu-ray becoming public domain by the end of 2029 will cause a resurgence in Blu-ray popularity.
Man HD-DVD should have won that format war
