I said it in the CoD thread, but this really just shows how much third party props up Sony at this point.

Imagine how much of a shit fit they'd throw if Microsoft was in talks to acquire Take Two/Rockstar...

I was wondering why this thread had a notable drop in its autism quota recently. Did he ever get around to posting his supposed collection screenshot?

Jesus Christ, Sony. That's half the price of the fucking digital console.

View attachment 3746758

At this rate PSVR2 is probably gonna cost $600 or more.
Nigger, 200 dollarydoos for a pad?! And here i thought the propietary memory sticks for the PSP were the worst nickle and diming of their customers Sorny could ever come up with.

Remember when Sony won the 32bit consolewar by simply being $100 cheaper than the Saturn was? Sure seems to be a long time ago. I mean, it literally is, but still.
Is Sony USA planning on crashing the whole company with no survivors? Have the japs given up already on trying to comprehend SoA's business decisions and is letting them go through with all this while hoping the next console release of theirs won't be such a colossal fuck-up again?

It seems so, yeah. SEGA collapsed because of retarded decisions on the Japanese side and the American side being powerless to stop them. Now, it seems the exact same problem has befallen Sony, just reversed.

There are basically no japs left, they're almost all gone, off kickstarting spiritual successors to they games they used to make but sony wouldnt fund

They probably don't have much choice but to honor their existing contracts. There may be a way around it, I'm not a business lawyer but it's probably prudent or at least less of a hassle to just let things continue as they were established.
They could have broken the contracts and just paid the fee for breaking it to my knowledge. The biggest mark of faggotry for Sony is that MS let Psychonauts 2 stay multiplatform just because it was crowdfunded. Meanwhile Sony paid the devs of Little Devil Inside to make their game exclusive despite it being funded through kikestarter and meeting the stretch goals for simultaneous multiplatform release. Basically paying devs to fuck over people who already paid for the game. Sony bitching about things being unfair is massively hypocritical.

I mean, given they've been sending Epic blood money to continue their exclusivity bullshit, is anyone really surprised at them extending that to Xbox?

It's always funny to think about how Sony consoles were runaway successes by just being the only one in the game to not fuck up royally in their generations.

PS1:
Like you said, they went cheaper than the Sega Saturn, which had a slew of its own problems due to Sega being blindsided by 3D gaming; and then Nintendo got paranoid and insisted on expensive ROM cartridges that topped out at 64mb, at a time when everyone else was using cheap 650mb CDs.

PS2:
Could play DVDs right out of the box, plus full backwards compatibility with PS1. Xbox and Gamecube had neither

PS3:
lol

PS4:
Xbox One's announcement was legendary in how horrible it was, so Sony did this and sweeped the generation:

PS5:
lol, lmao even

I'm still pissed at that faggot for keeping Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2 PC locked behind his shitty ass Chink spyware store.

Not only that but the best games at the time wanted to be on Playstation. Final Fantasy 7, Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil.
The first Playstation had built up such of a reputation within the first two years of it's life span that people who never touch a video game controller before wanted to try out Playstation.

Not only that but it was a cheap DvD at a time when everyone wanted one. The Playstation 2 was not just everything great about the first Playstation, it manage to be even better.

The playstation brand was once everyone's go to console. It was the face of gaming for most people and now that's been eroding away. Compare with what the first two Playstations had within their first two years compared to PS5 and it's very sad and pathetic.

This is where my interest for Sony dropped like a ACME Anvil on Wyle E Coyote

All they had to do was keep the original model that had hardware PS2 backwards compatibility and not release 15 bajilion other version that didn't include that. The HD amount wasn't even a buzzkiller since you could replace it with a different bigger one since it used the same ones laptops used, hell, now-a-days you can stick an SSD in there and call it a day.

Now they have to pay them for exclusivity.

I mean, they bought Bungie not too long ago.
bunghole is no activision, and you know it. lot of people consider that move retarded anyway given the price sony paid and bungie still being independent.

mind you that's the company bobby kotick rather let out of their 10 year contract early to fuck off than gut them

Microsoft is ALLOWING the previous contracts that Sony had with Activision Blizzard to go through
uwot? that's not how contracts work. the only thing microsoft "allowed" was to not pay the fine (and I shouldn't have to explain being the company who can't stick to contracts is a very bad look), or get dragged into court. this "good guy microsoft" is some /v/-tier cope.

yes, sony got caught with their pants down while sucking tranny cock, but that doesn't mean all their grievances aren't legit. for example, the price dumping via game pass; I can fucking guarantee you the last thing microsoft wants is the legal system take a look at that and their other shenanigans, and at worst case set a precedence for the whole industry (and that's not to say depending on the contract they never could've done it anyway, but spinning it this way looks much better for smoothbrains). it also ignores the repercussions for the industry at large.

I get it, microsoft dunking on the sony lolcow and letting you rent games for cheap is funny and "based", however it misses the bigger picture. sony being retarded is just funny. microsoft being retarded is outright cancer, you do NOT want microsoft to lead the industry unchecked. the last time was during the 360 era, and look what that got us.

that's what I mean with fucking perspective.

Taking the extension would give plenty of time to shop around for a dev to make a new Killzone, Resistance, or SOCOM game. SOCOM especially as their only competitor would be Rainbow Six, and Ubisoft are trying their hardest to mess that franchise up.

But this is exactly what Jim Ryan is fighting against. He doesn't want to rise to the competition. They had PSNow for years before Gamepass, and before it was always an afterthought. No marketing, no hype, just... there. They had to be dragged into improving it, like the quaint idea of letting you install games. But it's still behind in that they won't put their games day-one on it. So they sure as heck won't want to bother with (relatively) smaller games like Killzone or SOCOM that won't guarantee millions of sales like their others.

If the deal somehow falls through, it'll probably fuck with ABK's stock and they'll be less likely to cooperate with Sony. I'd laugh if they decided to make Xbox/PC exclusives anyway after the deal fell, and put the blame on Jim Ryan.
ps now didn't really matter since ps+ had games and a library from day one. xbox live gold was just to allow your console to get online, microsoft only came up with games for gold after sony sweetened the deal. ps+ was good enough no one gave a shit about psnow, if you wanted to play an old game you simply bought a used copy for 5 bucks from gamestops (most normalfags only care about the FOTM anyway).

as for a cod competitor, none of those games have any brand value. maybe resistance and killzone, but that's it. so sony would not only need to spend a fuckload on marketing to get the brand known again, they'd also need to find someone being able to do it, and one look at the recent AAA lineups should tell you enough. it's much simpler and safer to pay someone else and get a cut than burden the risk.

there's also the fact that microsoft's warchest is much much bigger than sony's. I highly doubt they could ever buy activision even if they wanted to, or even some crapheap like ubisoft.

And this is what happens when you rely on third parties to shore up your content output. They get bought out, you are left holding the bag.

I mean, no they aren't Activision, but they are a major AAA developer, which is why I brought them up to answer the earlier question. And, frankly, I don't think Sony could afford to buy anyone bigger, what with their already massive debt load.
