Library of games. The PS5 has nothing.

Marissa Moira with tales of arise sales figures in 4, 3, 2, 1....
Anything on PS4 can be played on PS5, but the thing is they're not making it a long term strategy. 2022 is only having 1 million PS4s being made compared to the tens of millions of PS5s. In direct comparison 45 million PS2s sold after the PS3 launched and the PS3 still sold a few million units after the PS4 launched.

They've heavily decreased the flow of Playstation 4's and even stopped manufacturing the pro model. But this has not impacted their software sales. While scalping is an issue Sony themselves have been holding weekly sale invites of Playstation 5s instead of relying on retailers.

The other thing is is that across the board hardware sales are still not up to what they once were due to manufacturing constraints so secondhand hardware is still going for a premium. Gamestop is offering trade in deals for any system where it's very close to the original MSRP.

The PS5 its basically a PS4 2.0 considering its just the same architecture (x86+radeon) unlike PS3 which was another thing entirely from the PS4 and PS2

Point is afaik all PS4 games are playable on PS5, there's no emulation unlike PS3

A used pro its going for more than a series-S which is afaik more powerful

Too bad xbawks cant be pirated anymore

I now have my third ps5. Two fucking times I had to send it to Sony because it kept crashing when playing ps5 games while PS4 games made no issue. It crashes with an error „ce-108262-9“
Forces you to restore the database (doesn’t work) and maybe even reinstall the console operating system (also doesn’t work).
These are the „tips“ you get if you get this error a lot:
- have no controller and no external Garderobe plugged in on the console.
- don’t use the restmode as it does seem to produce those crashes with some units.
So basically those things are less likely to properly function than a fucking ps4 pro.

I don’t even want to talk about the fucking coilwhine when playing ps5 games, depending what’s happening in the screen it’s not as bad to „wtf is a big bug flying in my ps5 all the time?

As for solutions: i changed out my expansion ssd from Samsung to western digital and it works for the moment, let’s see the next time the service person for sure already knows my name.
Sony fuck you for making me send a system so many times to your stupid asses.
At the moment if I could switch to an Xbox series x I would.

Edit: those that got sent back to me were other ones with a different serial-nr.
I'm sorry to hear that man. Same shit happened to my friend. When he played PS4 games it was fine but PS5 games would crash his shit. He's on his third PS5. (all of them digital edition) Sony just sucks ass.
Why are used PS4s still so expensive? the PS5 has been out for over a year now
I think PS4 Pros are the only ones worth getting atm. Since the original PS4 is now discontinued, prices have been high but are defiantly not worth the price. Paying 300 bucks for 9 year old hardware ain't worth it. I recommend getting a Pro if you are interested. It's still outdated but hey, at least it's better.

Everything vidya is being price gouged. Last time I tried for a PS4 controller, sellers online wanted like $80-$100 for official ones
Yeah, PS4 controllers have been hard to come by throughout the entire pandemic. There are plenty of PS5 controllers rotting away on shelves, though

If they could be used for ps4 it would be an awesome match. The best thing about the ps5 as of now is it’s controller.

You want sticker shock, look at the price of PS3 controllers. I kick myself for dropping my only one with rumble down a flight of stone stairs because I tried to carry too much stuff. It fucked the thing up internally and it's never worked right since.

Even the good third party options that were running around 30-40 bucks and came with extra features are now the price of modern new controllers.

Definitely don't think either the PS4 or Pro are worth $300. The Pro is nice to have but everything I've seen runs fine on the standard spec machine. I'd definitely get a Pro if it was quiet, but all PS4 models sound like a jet engine about to explode and no amount of cleaning or thermal paste seems to fix that.

Highly recommend FW 9.00 exploit tho.

I'm not surprised at all. I've never made it through a single generation of PlayStation without having my console develop some kind of serious problem.

PlayStation consoles have always been junk that I've had to tolerate because they've historically had so many exclusives. It's crazy how they don't get more shit for it.

I don't get the whole PS5 doesn't have games meme, made sense with the PS3 and somewhat with the PS4 but not with the PS5 especially when its rival Xbox Series X has yet to get one exclusive out and who knows when it will get its first one.

I would say Astro, Ratchet, Returnal and if you count remakes Demons Souls were some of the best games in 2020 and 2021 and those are PS5 only. Also, have Deathloop as a timed console exclusive and Destruction AllStars but that game is shit. But have noticed every gen seems cross-gen games period lasts longer and you have MS going all-in on cross-gen games and Sony keeping its three big 2022 titles which we know of GoW, Horizon and GT as cross-gen games.

Sony seems to have a number of exclusive lined up this year for the PS5 but not all of them are first-party games, I would say their 2022 lineup is weak right now with only 4 known games to be published by them across platforms. Mircosoft has a long list of upcoming games but none have a 2022 date yet. Game industry as a whole has just slowed down

I unironically spent $1,000 on an eBay PS5 last spring and 90% of the games I've played on it have been PS4 titles.

I'm going to loudly and unabashedly laugh at you, and then go back to playing SNES roms on my computer that was altogether more expensive than your PS5, but also can't play games as well as your PS5 because I'm still on an obsolete video card that's perplexingly worth about as much as the discless PS5's MSRP.

We have to go back Marty! The timeline is all fucked up!

I'm just over PC gaming at this point. It's jaded the fuck out of me. I've learned to let go of optimizing frames per second and resolution and AA. Just let me sit on my comfy bed with a controller. If I ever do another serious build again it's going to be a Mini-ITX build that I can hook up to my TV.

Did you pre-order the Trails To Azure ports (which were originally PSP games) too?

The last time I bought a modern western port to a PSP game was Final Fantasy Type Zero and I think that was one of the first few purchases for my PS4 after TLOU Remastered.

Pre-ordered the NISA LE to keep sealed, a Switch version to keep sealed, and will buy the digital version on PS4. I'll be doing this for all of the upcoming Kiseki games.
Yeah I did similar, I bought two copies but the LE stuff is the same regardless of version. Same box dimensions too.

No joke, I've re-purchased games on PC that I already owned on PS4, and came out with a far better experience because I could actually hear the damn game. RE7 and REmake 2 were so much better when I could appreciate a soundscape that wasn't drowned out by the console.

Honestly though, I thought it had to do with the fact that I was using a base PS4 and not a Pro. I don't know if I feel better knowing that the Pro model is just as loud.
