Emulation I agree doesn't make much sense, it seems like the overpriced poor emulated ps2 games on ps4, didn't sell great and decided the reason they didn't do well is that people don't want to play old games, which is dumb because how well BC worked out of Xbox and the fact HD remasters of PS2 and even some PS1 games were still selling great at the time.
They have some weird patents on new forms of playstation emulation. I don't know what may come of it (if anything) but it's everything from giving trophy support to old disc versions of games that had none to 4k boosting PS1 titles that exist on paper.

Granted theirs some genres that make no sense in going back, Monster Hunter is certainly one. World fixed all the major issues every previous title had when it came to controls that there's no real desire to play the old ones or even the clones that were made(some by Sony itself). World is also available for free on PS5 to all PS+ members.

Honestly, it feels to me, you just want Sony to fully rival Xbox with gamepass, which I understand, gamepass is a good value offer, but right now makes no business sense for Sony at all at least with their AAA games that selling 10 million+ units and their consoles still outselling Xboxs despite Gamepass.
which games tho? and which consoles...?

I do agree Sony badly run business-wise in many areas, they should have pulled out of the phone market a long time ago. Amy Pascal should have been fired long before she finally was.
apparently the phones were not even that bad for a while, at least I remember people recommending them. price and support might have been an issue those.
as for amy pascal, they fired her but still work with her for stuff like spiderman iirc, so either way they still give her money.

Not talking about the quality of phones, as the quality of sony products are normally pretty high now, just that Sony has lost so much money in that area.

Pascal as head of the studio was a mess, with lots of flops and budgets being way too high. Sony does still work with her, but she doesn't have any of the power she used to, and her company is normal one of many production companies involved,

They dropped him afterwards for reasons I can't find, and then went and did this to him the following year:

So, don't do ads for Sony if you want any control over your next gig.
Kevin Butler is a REAL gamer. He just plays good games.

Using Kevin Butler was way better than whatever Sony was trying with the first two years of PS3.

What the HELL was that?

this thread has become a real deep dive into the company that makes shitty robot vagina consoles for faggots that have controllers that break and you can't even buy a console because they've been sold out for over a year because Sony decided to release it in the middle of coof + chip shortage season

also it has no games

Actually, many people have had success with signing up their playstation account for Sony's PS5 sale invites, they'll send them out in waves each month. You basically get into a queue at the specified time and will wait around 20 minutes, and it's very rare that they won't have stock for everyone there.

It's how they've been moving consoles and the site itself is very closely protected. You'll lose your place in line if you log on with more than one device from the same location. VPNs won't even work as a means to get around it. Once you have your PS5 you cannot order a second one from the same account. They have an algorithm for kicking out scalper accounts so they're ineligible.

thats too much fucking work to pick up a bing bing wahoo

imagine having to bend over backwards that far to give a company that hates you $500 so you can play more of their propaganda non-games that are too trashy to be movies

Well I found mine at target so I didn't get the Official Super Secret Burger King Kids Club Email™ like all the other Certified Cool Kids™ did.

it's basically like looking at a webpage for 20 minutes and then you hear a ding that it's your turn to purchase. As far as gay online bullshit is concerned it's less gay than the alternative since you're actually getting what you want and they're not having it descend into amiibo level fuckery with IRL lines and campouts. You just need a browser tab open.

Considering how the graphics card raffles were held for the 3000 series, most of those were fucked by the miners who paid people in BTC to rig the raffles in their favor. I mean when 70% of the people there are homeless people in line to get a card that's a few grand it becomes pretty obvious.

And it stinks

PS Now could be far better than it is, and they are much cheaper ways to do so, such as investing in emulation for retro games, doing a bundle with ps+, having native downloadable pc games for user on pc and surely more.

Not necessarily; I actually am not a big fan of Microsoft and their buying spree. Feels like Microsoft doing what they've always done and throwing money at the problem seemingly thinking that will make it go away. Though I see how this will help game pass. I'm just not under any impression that Sony even want to try to compete with game pass, nor can they. Microsoft can literally afford to lose millions putting brand new games on game pass for one flat monthly rate. Sony can't afford that. Sony might have the IP to make a similar service worthwhile, but Sony ignores pretty much all of their older IP, and Sony doesn't seem all that interested in doing more with PS Now. At least we agree that Sony is poorly run and Amy Pascal was a ball and chain.

So here's an obscure reason why Sony sucks:

Kevin Butler (a character, played by Jerry Lambert) was a spokesman for the PlayStation brand from '09-'11, doing ads for the PS3 near the end of its life, and those commercials were very popular. Popular enough to get a considerably long Wikipedia article for an advertising character, considering his character was very amusing and could easily have a sitcom of his own. To exemplify how popular he was, here's a 40-minute long compilation of the commercials and trailers he was in, uploaded five years after his last one, with a staggeringly good like/dislike ratio:

They dropped him afterwards for reasons I can't find, and then went and did this to him the following year:

I believe they are referring to this commercial:

The funny thing is that he wasn't even playing the game. He just watched someone else play. And I'm sorry about the video quality. I couldn't find one that didn't look like shit.

the Vita proves that putting """fancy""" bells and whistles means absolutely shit

case and point: touch-screen on the back of the handheld (RIP comfortable holding)
and yet they kept rejecting my game, Goatse Simulator, which would have been perfect for the back touchpad

I think the model 2000 feels pretty great in the hands but this was such a weird fucking time for video games since so many tech outlets were banking on the fact phones would completely take over mobile gaming (true to an extent but it was clean mobile phone games appealed to a much grander user base where dedicated mobile gaming was still prevelant if the 3DS had anything to show for it). The Vita was stacked on so many crazy features when all people asked for was a second fucking analog stick coming from the PSP, maybe L2 R2 if possible. In the end they tried making such a cool piece of tech on paper that was also really technically sound for the time considering it was just a handheld console, but they fucked it up the ass with the proprietary memory card, lacking first party lineup after the initial launch, and then basically abandoning it so early leaving it to Asian markets and indies to pick up the leg work. The OLED screen, while nice, was a bit too extra compared to have just sticking with an LCD screen, but it wasn't the worst of the weird decisions they made with the console like touch controls which feels like too much but not totally out of the question, but a fucking back touch screen? Shitty quality front facing and back cameras? Like really? And don't forget that embarrassing attempt at incorporating a 3G service with the only provider you could use was AT&T. So many fucking "why?" decisions when they were so close to making a damn perfect handheld. Hell, the original launch line up are some of the most high quality, high budget games released on the system that took advantage of the handheld greatly, Killzone Mercenary was honestly one of the most impressive FPS games I'd ever seen on a handheld up to that point and it played pretty damn good. Gravity Rush is one of my favorite games ever and it utilized the gyro motion pretty well and opened me up to being used to gyro motion in games and getting used to it when it came to cleaning up my aim when just joysticks can't accurately do so. It's so depressing because had they tweaked the Vita a bit more to get rid of completely useless features and inputs like the back touch screen, additional cameras, and 3G service in favor of an L2 and R2, and had allowed the use of micro SD cards and not shitty expensive proprietary ones, it could've been a much more fondly remembered and if not the best gaming handheld of the era, but unfortunately that just wasn't the case.
I still love the hunk of paper weight, but it saddens me of the very wasted potential when even Sony just nope'd and stopped supporting it directly.
