Whisper will probably be used as their "out" for if they ever wanna reuse the Wispon mechanics instead of making more Wisp stuff, but don't wanna acknowledge the avatar, which near as I can tell, seems to be exactly what they did in IDW when they initially played her up as this cool secret sniper who saved Silver of all people during the war and based her off a design from Forces.I can totally see it, too. Whisper's gameplay would be Avatar 2.0, and Tangle's tail abilites look like they could be accomplished by reskinning the Werehog grab abilities from Sonic Unleashed. Not only are they gameplay compatible, but Sonic Team could even be lazy and implement them by copy-pasting stuff from previous Hedgehog Engine games. Ian knew exactly what he was doing here.
Ian having both Sonic and Amy respectively go "Man, it sure would be cool if my good friend who's totally canon, Sticks The Jungle Badger was on this adventure with us" being followed by Sega jumping in at basically the last second to replace specifically her with Blaze in artwork out of like 50 different characters when even the IDW ocs are there is still pretty funny, they do NOT want to touch Boom ever again. It got as far as the final draft.

At least Sonic and Shadow has an excuse for not wearing them. Also the series' consistent rule on the boys not being allowed to wear pants gets pretty weird in situations like this
Think of it like those Looney Tunes characters, the logic is constantly inconsistent.(Also the series' consistent rule on the boys not being allowed to wear pants gets pretty weird in situations like this because either those open jackets are useless, or they just don't mind 95% of their body being cold, but their arms and backs are where the draw the line)
Man, poor avatar, not only was forgotten about, but gender-swapped... IF he'll be used ever again. As for Whisper, yeah, she could be that. The duck dumb-face bad guy could be a boss type with switching mechanics, and angry cunt and wet fox shota are literal clones of Sonic and Tails respectively.Whisper will probably be used as their "out" for if they ever wanna reuse the Wispon mechanics instead of making more Wisp stuff, but don't wanna acknowledge the avatar, which near as I can tell, seems to be exactly what they did in IDW when they initially played her up as this cool secret sniper who saved Silver of all people during the war and based her off a design from Forces.
Funny how that cartoon is still leagues better in writing than anything of Sonic for the last decade.an having both Sonic and Amy respectively go "Man, it sure would be cool if my good friend who's totally canon, Sticks The Jungle Badger was on this adventure with us" being followed by Sega jumping in at basically the last second to replace specifically her with Blaze in artwork out of like 50 different characters when even the IDW ocs are there is still pretty funny, they do NOT want to touch Boom ever again.
That was my point. Sometimes full body outfits are excused, but it's inconsistent. I'm not sure why this rule was made. The not-enby thing from the latest IDW issue has pants, but I guess that one counts as a full-body outfit.(Also the series' consistent rule on the boys not being allowed to wear pants gets pretty weird in situations like this because either those open jackets are useless, or they just don't mind 95% of their body being cold, but their arms and backs are where the draw the line)
Which one? There was Ray the flying squirrel who could fly with a jacket on because of comicbook physics. At least Sonic and Shadow has an excuse for not wearing them.
They would either have to give Sonic and co. reasons to go back into the Sol dimension, or give Blaze her own adventure. It's a shame they barely do anything with Blaze anymore... Probably because she fills the same niche as Sonic, can fly and has a super mode. We can't have anyone making Sonic look bad, can't we?
The fanbase wouldn't stop REEEING if the devs just gave Blaze an standalone adventure, but nobody elseEither that, or use her and Eggman Nega as some sort of pallet swap bonus content for the regular games with maybe extra content exclusive to them... like make her mode THE "Hard Mode"" or something, since that spot used to belong to Knuckles but not anymore.
That didn't stop them in '06. Nor did it stop them from bringing Silver in with zero explanation. They would either have to give Sonic and co. reasons to go back into the Sol dimension, or give Blaze her own adventure.
Apart from Cream, she's pretty much the only "2nd-tier" character who hasn't already got one.The fanbase wouldn't stop REEEING if the devs just gave Blaze an standalone adventure, but nobody else
I mean, does it REALLY count if there's a theory that she's just a figment of Silver's imagination that's semi-believable purely because of how little she does?...unless Sonic 06 counts.
I personally don't get bothered by them storing away/taking out objects larger than their torso's since they always do that with the Chaos Emeralds and Amy's hammer for examples, but I do agree that the movies' design on it is more appealing than the clunky tablet. (I kind of forgot it appeared in Unleashed first when for the longest time I thought it was a shoehorned in-gag item in Colors' cutscenes)I didn't like the movies that much, but they had the right idea redesigning it to be a more handheld gadget you could conceivably see him storing in his tails over this gigantic tablet he whips out of nowhere even though it's longer than his torso.

6- OBNOXIOUS references
i do not need to explain to you that ian flynn is notorious with his game references. but when the lore is so bad and you see a Sonic Forces reference where tails kneels down crying for sonic's help, it gets unbearably bad. you'll see it in every issue guaranteed, but i'll post only one that i find the worst.

Flynn just doesn't have it in him anymore, given he wrote those comics. Haven't checked out Drogune yet to see what he does on his own though, maybe he's saving his best for his personal projects.I faintly recall a issue with the Sonic X-based comics where Eggman tries to ruin a date between Sonic and Amy at a theme park, only to get himself screwed over in the end. Why can't they replicate that kind of silly stuff since it wouldn't be out of character for Eggman to go through odd lengths to get under Sonic's skin or just be a humorous troll in general.
Point is, you can still write a good comic even with these mandates in place, but I should be thankful that they're on a tight leash because of it otherwise I'd shrug to think how they could further use the comic as their political mouthpiece.
I think Team Sonic doesn't know what to do with anyone who's not Sonic, as they already struggle what to do with the blue hog. They would either have to give Sonic and co. reasons to go back into the Sol dimension, or give Blaze her own adventure.
Either that, or use her and Eggman Nega as some sort of pallet swap bonus content for the regular games with maybe extra content exclusive to them... like make her mode THE "Hard Mode"" or something, since that spot used to belong to Knuckles but not anymore.
But this might be the reason too.The fanbase wouldn't stop REEEING if the devs just gave Blaze an standalone adventure, but nobody else
Poor Silver will never get his own game, ever and ever. Nor Amy Rose, but modern Amy Rose is pretty much a non character.Apart from Cream, she's pretty much the only "2nd-tier" character who hasn't already got one.
...unless Sonic 06 counts. I was counting it for Silver so I guess it applies to her too.
I read somewhere that the deal is that there's a special event for issue n. 100 since next year is the 35th anniversary of Sanic, but I don't see IDW lasting that long. IMO I would have made a cheap anime with the franchise and improvise from there as Sonic X did, but no dice. The best part about IDW Sonic is anticipating when the plug will be pulled. I'd be surprised if they make it to 100 issues given IDW's financial dire straits. The only question then is what Sega decides to do next with the franchise, if they try to continue the series with another publisher or if they hit the reset button for a third time.
It's a common cartoon gag, the Hammerspace. The Sonic species are honorary cartoon animals anyway.I personally don't get bothered by them storing away/taking out objects larger than their torso's since they always do that with the Chaos Emeralds and Amy's hammer for examples, but I do agree that the movies' design on it is more appealing than the clunky tablet. (I kind of forgot it appeared in Unleashed first when for the longest time I thought it was a shoehorned in-gag item in Colors' cutscenes)
He used to be better, but he tends to focus too much on drama, making characters act OOC to do so, or having literally whos show up and do the former. Sonic Frontier tried waay too hard to navel-gaze... But, since everyone is two-dimensional at best, it felt awkward. IDW Sonic has literally nothing going with it due to the mandates and the mainline games taking so long to get out, as they can't do shit that's not in a game, past or future one. This is why I genuinely think Flynn is a hack writer who will likely suffer a stroke if he can't insert a reference in his dialogue every now and then.
Sure there's been references here and there in games and other media prior to him taking the helm, but with Flynn you see it all the time.
To be fair Flynn didn't write this one, and the issue touches standard themes of confronting your parents because of wanting to have your own way. Unfortunately, the subtext is clearly trannyism bullshit that is tolerated less and less every year, and that no sane kid can relate to. Fortunately SEGA stopped them in time from going with Them/they/Themself/xir with the literal snowflake character. IDW has an inconsistent tone, with all ages stuff co-existing with shock value themes that don't fit. At least Archie was for teenagers, and taught stuff that people could understand, like marital abuse, even if it was particularly unsubtle. In general the IDW comic does feel like a waste of space because it's being spearheaded by emotionally stunted retards who can only use personal politics as their writing source and it shows bigtime in the not-Tumblr softboi issue and their OC's in general.
The mandates weren't here back then, I believe, and Sonic X had better characters other than the annoying brat. No second-rate copies, no OCs, no xirs. Sonic X began as a regular anime with Sonic bolted on top and it shows.I faintly recall a issue with the Sonic X-based comics where Eggman tries to ruin a date between Sonic and Amy at a theme park, only to get himself screwed over in the end.
He's been writing for what, 20 years? It's understandable. He might be kicked out if IDW is to close up.Flynn just doesn't have it in him anymore, given he wrote those comics.
She had an entire chapter in Sonic Battle. It's exactly what you'd expect and it might be one of the harder parts of the game.Apart from Cream, she's pretty much the only "2nd-tier" character who hasn't already got one.
