In mildly amusing twitter sideshows, some guy with cancer pretended he was killing himself or on his deathbed to try and drum up interest in his Sonic.exe OC to get fanart of it.

If it was insanity like those from Penders and co from Archie times, at least it would be entertaining, instead of being constant homo-drivel. Tangle was pretty much kidnapped to be the lesbian postergirl, so she can't be separated from that fact (and Whisper). Whisper's character is bland and IMO too dark for the setting, as her entire squad was killed and she went into a revenge spree, while most of the main cast laugh it off whenever Eggman does something. Having another Sonic Adventure 2 situation is unlikely to happen at the moment (unless the next game/s go dark again).

That would be preferable instead of wasting time and space for third parties who won't matter unless they're made "official", if at all. I didn't know that Ian commented that the stakes would never be at the level of the zombie virus, but that line confirms the comic is a waste of time.

1: That mini series with Tangle and Whisper was kind of a mistake in hindsight, since i think it's what kickstarted the lesbian faggotry between them in the first place and made it nearly impossible to seperate them. They were alot more enjoyable to be around when they were still on their own for the most part and didn't need to rely on one another.

2: Whisper's story too dark for the setting? Eh, same series with an alien hedgehog that witnessed someone he loved getting gunned down in cold blood and later his creator facing his end by a fucking firing squad. It's really not that bad, might even be slightly more tame compared to Shadow's depending on how you see it.

3: To be honest, the stories having low stakes isn't technically a bad thing in theory. Take a look at Scrapnik Island for an example of how to do something like that right. The problem is the writers have to take extra care not to fuck with the status quo at all because of how tied they are to the games, which means everything basically has to go back to exactly how it was by the end of the arc. In other words, no matter how severe the situation is, it won't matter in the end anyway. The ending of Metal Virus was the first clear sign of that in effect.
But see, it's not only that, but it also has to do with them just sucking at writing in general with the exception of Flynn and Barnes lmao. Say what you will about Flynn being a fag, but he still provided easily the most memorable parts of the story. When Stanley took over for a while, we got many exciting plots such as "the girls go camping and put out a fire" and "the gang finds doors that fuck with reality but all the locations they go to are kind of boring so it doesnt mean much in the grand scheme of things" and of course my favorite, "Sonic and Tails find a lesbian pinnochio with daddy issues".
Do any of these sound appealing to the average Sonic fan? Maybe the doors one could have worked in the hands of a decent writer, or better yet, should have just been in an actual game. Fuck you Evan Stanley for wasting a neat concept and introducing that ugly marionette bitch. At least she's barely had any relevance since she first appeared.

Idk, man. I want to see something shocking instead of something that's aimed for kids who never really grew out of elementary school.

But still, this is actually out of place for the series. As great of an idea as this is; we'll never get anything this realistic because everything else has been dumbed down to the point where it can be easily self contained in the case if one of the games turns out to be a dud

God, what a fucking mess this fandom has become...

I always felt they should've made Sonic directed towards teens (12ish and up) rather than children (8ish).

It was bound to happen, considering the kind of writers this comic has. Besides, it has barely anything going on, so the OCs are the ones who can change, in one way or another.

The Shadow story has been softened since that time, and it's been grandfathered by now. We won't get such an edgy story anytime soon, I bet. Even Frontiers retconned its own bittersweet (but actually positive) ending. The IDW comic doesn't know whether it wants to be a comic for children or teenagers, as it swings from cute-looking killer robots to ZOMBIE VIRUS KILLING EVERYONE (not killing, "just" mutating them, but the implications are there), to girls going out to a camping, to EVIL SCIENTIST ENDLESSLY TORTURING TWO TEENAGERS FOR THE LULZ, and so on.

The problem is the writers have to take extra care not to fuck with the status quo at all because of how tied they are to the games, which means everything basically has to go back to exactly how it was by the end of the arc. That's the main issue, the main cast are static and separate from the comic, so you'll have a zombie invasion that is undone and everyone calls it a day, even Cream, woh had her mother "die" in front of her. Meanwhile, the OCs are all riddled with traumas.
Hell, weren't most of the OCs traumatized, orphans or both in one way or another?
Meanwhile, Tails is still a 8 years old who singlehandedly destroyed an army.

But see, it's not only that, but it also has to do with them just sucking at writing in general with the exception of Flynn and Barnes lmao.
Don't hold Flynn in that high regard. He made Sally lesbian.

I thought that was Flynn's idea. I liked how at no point the girls decide to call Sonic, lest they're overshadowed.

In short, the comic is wasting time as it can't do anything on its own.

But there's this globohomo thing where everything has to be appropriate for the youngest age bracket imaginable, unfortunately. Since with Sonic everything that's new has a boost gauge, an reminder of the controls, those orange warning signs about the bottomless pits, reseting the status quo....

Just give me back my kaizo traps, damn it

The lesbian couple had to make it in, of course. Not that IDW has that many cool characters. I hope at least these two at least have their own vehicle each, if only so that they don't stand out due to being a lesbian couple and nothing else.
Remember when they had their own characteristics? I'm reminded of that episode of south park where Cartman paired up token and the black girl because they were black. they have something similar so they have to be together, right?

Hey, if they've put Surge in, then it means that they're contractually obliged to throw in even more of the IDW characters until we get to the platypus and the asshole of an octopus
Surge isn't in; Tangle and Whisper were all but confirmed ever since the wispon hoverboard was shown to be in the game.

It's a confirmation of what was known rather than a new reveal, if anything.

Looking back at the first arc and seeing them before they contracted the pozz really is something all right. Tangle was actually kind of endearing and Whisper wasn't a crying jobber bitch. I will quote myself now:
That mini series with Tangle and Whisper was kind of a MASSIVE mistake in hindsight
If they ever do an adventure-style game again she'd be good as Gamma 2.0, but with wisp powers.
I see Whisper working more like a cracked Avatar from Forces then i do Gamma. Keep the mech shit to the actual mechs.

This shit is slop vs slop and people are acting like they have the 90s rivalry still going.
I change my fucking mind if nights is here. (Hell, I even fuck with Tangle and Whisper when they aren't glued to each other to make both their personalities way lamer.)

Pairing up Tangle and Whisper as family friendly homosexuals is really a strange decision. Tangle is supposed to be the newbie character while Whisper is the grizzled veteran. If anything it should be a mentor-student relationship.

Now, I enjoy Surge and Kit myself, but their story arc has been spinning wheels since Starline died. There is a plausibly interesting plot hook in regards to their true identities, but the comic will most likely flub it. That, or IDW goes bankrupt and the comic is cancelled before we reach that point.

I think we talked about this already, multiple times, but there's not much that can be done with these two. They had their plot-conclusion, their evil mentor is dead, and according to the main writer, they can't just become good, as then they would become Sonic friend number 121st and 122nd. Unfortunately, the alternatively is for them to
kill Sonic or hurt him greatly, which won't happen, so you have a pair of character you can't do shit with. Oh, and they're literal bargain bin clones of much more popular characters (who were evil clones of the originals, funnily enough).

Whisper and Tangle should be mentor and student, yes, but woketards can't see people of the same sex in any relationship that's not sexual.

Sounds like there's more main characters in the sonic comic lineup than a k-pop boy band. Did they just not think let's just have them be in this one arc and maybe show up once in a while instead of making them main cast?
