I hear green Sonic and I'm thinking of Scourge
Scourge was a reference to the ashura glitch much like surge is. However scourge lacks the blackface aspect for obvious reasons.

What about Kit though? Was Tails just blue at some point because of a glitch? I actually don't recall anything looking like Kit due to a glitch.
It might be pulled out of flynns ass but I think there's a few tails texture glitches that could work like the old "cyborg" glitch palettes. Looking up "blue tails glitch" first result is that one and some reddit guy pointing it out as the reference. Going by image previews here.

Anyways copy/pasting from image search, this is the "cyborg tails" in question. There's also a sonic variant and bizzarely the only youtube vids that come up looking that oneup demonstration wise are ones calling it sonic.exe

I mean I can see WHY but like this glitch was a kinda known thing long before that shittypasta from what I remember lmao. I somehow forgot he looked like this though.

By the way, the knuckles ********** character glitch is caused by tails' leftover data. I forgot that too for a second but you can kind of see it with how his sprite freaks the fuck out and bobs around kinda similar to tails' walkcycle from the sonic crackers beta.

I admit I miss the hub world in SA2. Adventure, Unleashed, and yes even 06 had interesting towns and stuff. Would have been interesting to see but they already had so much budget going to literally everything else. Also apparently they're in San Francisco.

ou guys are talking about the comics? well i wanna bring up a certain topic from archie comics. it's one of the controversies regarding the archie comic series.

but it's not Ken Penders this time. it's Karl Bollers.
OH, that issue is legendarily bad. After I read it myself, I can confirm. Notice how in the cover Sally looks very furry-bait-ish, a thing that had been happening every year: making the females more and more furry, while the guys stayed more or less the same.

the issue started and went on alright and good. but these three specific pages are what made fans hate this issue. they call this controversy, The Slap.
This is one of the things that even Marvel would have hesitated to pull off, and both Marvel and DC used to casually kill characters, especially women, in terrible ways to force a plot. But it gets better! Later on Snic decides to cuck Tails as he was too young to date a girl, so he stole her in front of his face, and then he date-rapes Bunnie. But that's fair, later it was retconned to be Evil Sonic doing ti with Bonnie and later Fiona! Sonic did date Fiona anyway though, so the reveal was wasted.

the issue was panned and caused outrage among fans. who all said that sonic and sally had their relationship building up those years before, and their argument and break up from these three pages rendered all of that build up completely pointless. fans even criticised how unlikable sally was and started the sally hatedom
TO be fair, Sally had a lot of ressentment being built up due to how her father and mother treated her like shit, but this was uncalled indeed. The best part is that it's done in front of literally everyone. No surprise for a time they pretend this scene didn't happen, alas, this slap effecitvely killed the pairing for good. And then Ian makes Sally flirt with a monkey (kek), Khan, to both waste time and to piss of Sonic I suppose, as it was never going to work (the dude literally lived on the other side of the world).

I think an extra factor that added to it was the light hearted cool looking psuedo-manga chibi style they were doing for a bit here.
It's strange indeed, especially because the next arc involved mass-genocide of the Echidna. That comic is a good example of what NOT to do when writing a story.

Framing sonic as in the wrong for deciding to not give up his whole deal for "safety" is just the cherry on the shit sundae.
It's not the first time that Sonic's allies shit on him and decide to exile/kick him out for whatever reason, as in, their best soldier, then start crying when they need him again and he obliges. Over, over and over. Ian made a council of literal tools who displaced the increasingly brain-damaged king... But all of the council members were useless and moved by petiness. Then there's that Mongoose girl, made useless as her role is redundant by Amy, and she was made into a tool to move the plot.
I liked how the council dissed Sonic AGAIN for daring to defend them from an evil wizard that walked into the place and demanded the crown with a flimsy reasoning. Said wizard also tried to both conquer them AND destroy all of reality by becoming a god before this latest stunt, but apparently Sonic forgot to include that in the report.

In the end you understand why Robotnik had it so easy to trick these dumb animals.

I hope next game remembers that there are other characters like Sonic and we get non-Sonic focused characters like a Tails game, another Shadow one, or even a Knuckles one.

And "wechidna" looks a little like Dr. Finitevus baring the red gloves. And I know that Starline is basically Finitevus's spiritual sequel. I notice too that the Knuckles recolor appears slightly flamboyant in design without looking like a massive faggot. Unlike Starline who have those golden finger tips that ugly 30 year old women like to put on men for some reason. Massive downgrade in my opinion.
For some reason can't find the default standing sprite in the glitched color scheme by itself on image searches anymore. Probably because of some FNF thing that copies the glitch name for spoopy bloody stringbean knuckles that keeps showing up instead.

This YT thumbnail with it (albeit with the arm stretched downwards) knd of showcases a lttle how they probably came up with starline's appearance. interpreting the fucked up inverted shading on the face as a beak and the little gold band thing and then interpreting the fists being red as some kind of red jacket. This of course neglects all the other very fucking clearly knuckles things on display here.

I found out people still DO make fan art interpretations of the glitch "characters" because scrolling through some results actually brought those up. This is super autismo type shit but like trying to work an unintended "secret character" into a coherent design always had a bit more value to me than people making their own "fan characters".

Some of these were fake transparent PNGs on stock image hoarding sites which makes me wonder where they came from and just how old they are. Probably not THAT old since the second one seems to be FNF sprite mod related minus the spindlyman shit

Noticed a lot of these seem to interpret the red eyes as either kamina-esque shades or goggles. Art seems to range from current year-ish (but not quite troon level) aping off older styles or possibly just old 2000s era internet vidya fan art

I just realized this due to images of him showing up but mecha knuckles from sonic advance might have been another official attempt even if the gloves aren't the right color.
1738703300762.png
He's not even the usual mecha character design he's just a fucking grey knuckles with red fucked up eyes. Fight wise he's literally also just a mirror of the sonic &knuckles knuckles fight but with a second phase where he turns grey and vomits missiles at you. The fight is so fucking short you don't really even get a good chance to hear the unique phase 2 theme.

Gotta say it's both fascinating and somewhat disturbing how Ian squeezes out even the last drop of random Sonic trivia to recycle them as characters, even if they turn out to be one-note, "done and forgotten" characters (kinda like the glitch themselves, heh). I like Kitsunami best, but until he shows up in a mainline Sonic game/work, he's not considered canon, and even then it's no guarantee. Although it's luzly that both Surge and the annoying Lemur have blackfaces.
Shame not even Flynn can make a good rpg, while Mario has like dozens of them.

He's not. He's Finitevus with the serial numbers filed off. Potto refused to write a new character, so he just made a reskinned version of an old character.

If Potto wants to go back to Archie Sonic so fucking much, then why the fuck isn't he just writing Archie Sonic? NOBODY WANTS THE CURRENT STATE OF IDW. NOBODY.

Archie Sonic si dead and done, the characters hoarded by Sega and forgotten about, lest we have anothe rslap incident. A repeat of Archie Sonic is no longer possible, even if neutered, as the failed reboot showed. So they tried a new spin on the concept with IDW... But the tranny artists are fucking things up. Not that they would have done better back at Archie anyway.
That's not considering the ridiculous guidelines that heavily limit story beats, such as Sonic no longer being able to lose, ever, no characters being able to have relationships of any kind or suffer through extreme emotions (but comicbook ones do, so you have Sniper Wolf's going through PSTD due having her entire squad killed, while Tails the Fox is a child-soldier at 8 who's fought a lot and is barely affected by the "trauma"), and so on. Hell, has IDW bothered to show if humans are around? They are even in the latest games, but for some reason they are playing coy.

SEGA 'guidelines' that discourage showing humans seems fairly plausible - they'd completely dropped any mention of them since Unleashed and especially so with Forces, which is where the comics' narrative started off from.

It's to appease the western market people probably. The ones that still talk about mobius as if it was ever the actual in game lore and not like a localization story bible thing that was only ever relevant or even really attempted in licensed spinoff media. Aknotholeresident types, basically. You can also notice this with how mention of the world as "earth" is snubbed around like lost world-ish and forces with weird nonsense phrases in the US scripts being like "sonic's world" in referring to the planet. I kinda griped about that before at some point in this thread IIRC lmao. It's so fucking wild to me that the whole "sonic is an alien" thing stems from TV networks and corpo bean counters being like "huh... maybe people will find the talking blue rodent too weird to be from earth" when meanwhile he's going up against a guy that's literally a human (and is one of the early designs for what could have been the main protagonist too) and at the time of the first game sonic was the only animal character that even looked like himself with all the other "animal buddies" being based on the arcade game character Flicky's appearance.

Also no I am never going to call Cucky "Clucky".

Starline and Finitevus aren't much like each other besides them being white mad scientists and using portals, Starline even drops the portals for a hypno glove and the tri-core. Finitevus is a Knuckles villain who got his powers from siphoning off of Knuckles while he was in his "Chaos Knuckles state," turning Finitevus from a normal Echidna into his photonegative design and gave him magic super powers comparable to Chaos Knuckles. After which he tried to take over Angel Island and the Dark Legion as a Techno mage and he does a bunch of stuff involving Enerjak and the other Echdna storylines.

While Starline is an over obsessed fan boy mad scientist who doesn't use magic, isn't an echidna, doesn't try to insert himself into positions of political importance, and he's not a knuckles villain. They both don't like the status quo, but their means of changing it differ along with their goals, Finitevus is a megalomaniac that wants to remake the world in his image while Starline is a spurrned fanboy that wants to impress his idol Eggman.
Point being, he's not like Starline. At most they share an inspiration in their color palette and both being monotreme scientists.

Hard to pull that off when Maria and Sonic 06 are a thing, and supposedly a woman that was mentioned in the Shadow Generations diary might show up in the next mainline game.

Point being, he's not like Starline. At most they share an inspiration in their color palette and both being monotreme scientists.
He's also a complete failure who made bootleg copies of the protagonist duo to replace them... But fails at that. Not that he would ever succeed thanks to the guidelines which give the protagonist thicc plot armor.

Which is so fucking stupid, since Shadow's entire character is tied up in humans like the Robotniks and GUN, and robbing him of all that intrigue is probably the biggest reason why he's become a shitty Vegeta clone. You have the new movie AND the Generations rerelease directly involve all of that, so why can't the comics go back to his 06/Sonic Universe status quo of being a GUN agent?

Then he shouldn't have been a monochrome monotreme. I would've been fine with most of Starline's character (except for the pussyfooting over saying he's dead) if it wasn't for how he's blatantly based off of ideas Potto can't use anymore. He even makes an off-brand Scourge just to rub in how uninspired the writer is being with him.

Reminding me of things I can't have anymore seems to be the only thing this comic is capable of doing - a digital paperback version of slitting my own wrists.

Because having humanity around actually discredits Eggman as an villain, if you think about it

New crying lesbian, fresh off the presses!

On the subject of the mandates I have a conspiracy theory about them assuming they are both real and strict. It seems IDW is either not trusted by SEGA or they have no clout with them. Perhaps it's a combination of both.

In any case The movies seem to have a lot of freedom that IDW doesn't. First thing that comes to mind is Jim Carrey and his portrayal of the robotniks. I am quite ceartain that was 100% not a SEGA idea.

Speaking of Eggman, I think one of the reasons I dislike him in IDW is how he's treated in the plot. In the last 50 or so issues, he really only shows up when he is going to encounter Sonic in some way. Starline essentially got two miniseries to himself. Eggman can barely get a few pages.

The comic forgets about him until its time for another scuffel with sonic. We don't know what he's planning, we don't see what he's doing, and we barely see him interacting with his subordinates.

I was watching Sonic Boom recently, and man is Eggman great in it. The episodes focused on him are a nice change of pace. In fact all the character get better writing then they do in IDW.
