This song randomly burst into my head invasively despite me not going out of my way to hear it forever.
I think I said my gripes about modern gaming "experts" and "influencers" not liking the pacing of the mech stages but I don't ever think i brought up how I always kind of thought the gameplay could work as it's own full game. Something really fucking cool about run and gun platforming in a big fucking clunky death machine you can feel the weight of thanks to realistic input delays.

You 'member how in Sonic Heroes, Knux sounded like he was saying "SHIT" whenever he attacked but it was really "shift"?

That was 100% intentional, apparently.
Drier says he was told: Would you feel comfortable making that 'f' of 'shift' as soft as you can? We want it to be 'shift', but we want people to wonder if you’re swearing.

A friend talked me into watching Youtube compilations of the now-cancelled cartoon Sonic Boom.

.... I would love to play a game about Sticks the Badger. The entire thing could be her going around town spouting conspiracy theories and building traps that half the time don't work on the people they're intended to. Seriously that character was golden.

Just... don't let her have all seven chaos emeralds. The thought terrifies me.
Does she turn into Genderbent Alex Jones?

A surprisingly based video essay regarding Ian Flynn and why his writing sucks, using Amy's characterization as a springboard.

Vector calls Rouge a "broad" in the same game.
Is broad super offensive now? Well goodbye every other film noir style detective related story then.

If someone is correct, they're correct. Broken clocks and such.
I've noticed usually when it comes to vidya autism this person basically says whatever people that actually paid attention to the games already understand but also goes in depth on explaining stuff. They also did a thing when the bridget retcon shit happened about how the trans thing made no sense and was blatantly not always intended as it was framed as.
My greatest gripe with this shit is if anything happens in terms of opinion shift back to normal it's only going to be because "popular yt video essay/commentary channel talked about it within a near hour span of time so now it's ok to talk about!" type shit like every other thing that happened for multiple years prior people were already talking about and getting shut down over. Either that or it gets dismissed.

That video explains why IDW Sonic's writing feels wrong. There's that bit about the Lemur and OC Sniper Wolf where they open their hearts and share the latter's traumas... In the middle of a goddamn battlefield. As in, right in the middle of a crater caused by an explosion that destroyed an entire Eggman base (leaving only intact the safe where the two hid), with the perpetrator still roaming nearby. They don't even bother to take shelter somewhere else.

Anyone else notice the weirdly growing aversion to silver or gold (or really any metallic colors) in sonic game merch? I'd say it's a cost cutting thing for paint but it's like pretty much entirely across the board these days. Mildly unrelated to the games themselves but as I am a dumbass who occasionally buys small figurines of characters from games I like I think I should bring this up, since I've been noticing it. It started about as far back as the end of the Jazwares stuff but after that the companies making the stuff occasionally put out "deluxe sets"where characters had the right metallic colors or colors they didn't normally have and now it's been just like occasional rare short term exclusive releases that only use ONE metallic color and not the full colors needed if it's a character that's supposed to be glossy like that.

I think the most egregiously clear example is the metal sonic figures through the years. Like fuck man.

Lesser though still egregious examples are amy and shadow's wristbands. metal sonic's a really weird one though because he's either too dark or too light with whatever blue they use for him compared to in game stuff. Only exception to this rule weirdly has been mecha sonic II, a character who weirdly never had any merch until just a few years ago for the 30th anniversary. Only issue he suffers from is the weird scaling issue where he's a "4 inch scale figure" but clearly meant to scale with the 2.5 inch sonic.

No I am not calling the one from the 3rd game II and the first appearance in the game gear one 0 thats a shitty confusing retcon
fuck you Ian for not remembering there's a guy slightly before this one.

This isn't even getting into the thing that's become a meme after people noticed it a few years ago (scalpers buying up every fucking sonic figure that isn't sonic himself making sonic figures almost impossible to find if you aren't actively looking/waiting for the stock)
I should probably take a photo at some point of just the various small sanic guys I've gotten over the years. It's mainly robotnik adjacent stuff but that makes sense because he makes like 99% of the shit you go up against that shows up in the games. That's like complaining about Dr. Wily or Bowser adjacent stuff being tied to the merch of the games they come from. Actually that might be an interesting thing to to ramble about sometime, how much of a video game series' style seems to be attributed to/displayed through it's antagonist.

Sonic Boom made his gold accents yellow, and I guess SEGA just stuck with it for lower costs.

if you mean sonic's shoes, I might get it but those seem to still be gold-ish depending on game. If you mean metal sonic, he's always had yellow accents.

Also if you mean Shadow, his stuff was still gold in boom. At least in the promo renders.

yea whats weird about the jakks line is that you have to collect multiple scales to make it work. like for example you need to collect 4" moderns and 2.5" classics, but for some other stuff like Robotnik and Badniks you need to collect them in 4" because the heights are never right

The 4 inch moderns arent even in scale proper with the 2.5 classics if you're going by generations scaling. 100% not if you're going by the official height charts where they're technically supposed to be the same height in both classic and modern era. This is further distorted by the fact that post generations the classic designs limbs have been made slightly stubbier save for a few characters, and some of the classics characters are based on the genesis art or generations art. Some cases like buzz bomber and crabmeat aren't based on the classic designs but instead are based on the classic homage modern "lost world" designs. This isn't even going into the REALLY weird stuff like the accessories where they're all scaled for the 2.5inch figures but only included with the 4 inch ones, save for the chaos emeralds which are scaled for the 8 inch standalone collector line figures.

see at that point i just up and got the movie line figures which are 5 inches and look great. i then got some emeralds off etsy. ive been trying to get the 4 inch chaos and the master emerald for a few months tho because it's scalped to shit. it's not even a rare figure, it's just that people base the prices off of everyone else's prices. so you have four listings at once that all say 70 dollars
