It's going to be shit. Back into the Sonic Cycle it goes.Couple other things to note:
- Arzest, the guys behind Balan Wonderworld are involved with this game... make of that what you will
Ok, I take back everything I said about this looking good. It's going to suck.Couple other things to note:

- Iizuka did an interview and spilled some key features regarding the game: https://audioboom.com/posts/8315270-sgf23-sonic-superstars-interview-with-takashi-iizuka
Japs are weird about modern 2D Sanics. They seem convinced that every game must be like the 1st game with the instant death falls and bullshit. Even Sanic CD didn't have that shit so you'd think they'd learn from the most successful games in the series but it might just be obstinate "Fuck you, we know better." Jap game design logic.View attachment 5163657
Hearing that tidbit straight out of Christian Whitehead's mouth has gone a long way towards alleviating some of the doubts I have about Superstars. However - nailing the physics is only half the battle when it comes to 2D Sonic. The other half is level design that complements those physics. Will Sonic Team/Arzest actually stick the landing on this? Or will it be less Sonic Superstars and more Sonic Supersharts? Tune in this fall to find out - same hedgehog time, same hedgehog channel.
^the cause of SEGA's death as a hardware manufacturer"Fuck you, we know better." Jap game design logic.
Huh? I don't remember the 1st game having that except for shit like Scrap Brain Act 1 with the spinning conveyor belts above a death pit. They seem convinced that every game must be like the 1st game with the instant death falls and bullshit.
There's quite a few instant death falls and traps in Sanic 1. It's easily the hardest of the Genesis games. It really likes to punish you for going fast whereas the rest of the games -worst case scenario- you just get hit and lose your rings with momentum-killing spots being few and far between but rewarding memorization of the level.Huh? I don't remember the 1st game having that except for shit like Scrap Brain Act 1 with the spinning conveyor belts above a death pit.
What bullshit specifically was in Sonic 1 that made it bad? Only complaint i know that's common about that game is that Sonic doesn't go fast enough, hence Sonic 2 being the second coming of jesus christ to everyone
Oh boy, Green Hill Zone again! It seems that Sega can't stop living in the past, considering how this is styled after the second game that they've made

All things considered, it actually looks great
No need to worry about me. I'm a pirate.Sonic Mania:
- 12 Zones
- $20
Sonic Superstars:
- 8 Zones
- $60
Looks like SEGA saw the sales numbers on Mania and thought: Why not 3 times the price for 2/3rds the content?
It looks good, but I'm definitely not paying $60 lmao.
The magma and falling spiked chandeliers in the second zone. And there's that one underwater segment in the cavernss. What bullshit specifically was in Sonic 1 that made it bad?
Oh you mean the entireity of Labyrinth Zone? And Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 if you don't take the shortcut? And there's that one underwater segment in the cavernss.
Yeah, the segments with the waterslide and that bit where you're chasing Eggman.Oh you mean the entireity of Labyrinth Zone?
I really don't remember this one. The only major problem that I had with Scrap Brain was with the collision detection on the boss's pistons. And Scrap Brain Zone Act 3 if you don't take the shortcut?
And speaking of Sonic bootlegsThis topic sucks and is now about the rom hack of Somari bootleg: Sonic on NES
