damn that ken penders and his legal jewry
That story was one of Flynn's weirder ones.

The gist was that, through time travelling shenanigans to stop some doomsday weapon, Sonic erases himself from history from the previous 25 years, and returns to a completely different future.

Sounds like a run of the mill story, at first, no?

The twist is that he gets cucked by Shadow, now married to his former wife, and has inexplicably taken over the world. He's also instituted a state religion that all revolves around his dead friend.

Sanic is still a cashcow for them, they had enough money to buy Fatlus, the most recent Monkey Ball game was making a profit and the Yakuza series gained a lot of popularity in the recent years. Sega Sammy additionally still is in the market of Pachinko machines, but they thankfully didn't go full crime syndicate-Yakuza like Konami. Fuck Konami. We're probably never going to see a good Castlevania or Metal Gear game again. Especially the latter since it's pretty much a dead series.

Elaborate on "CA". California? Sonic Team is located in Los Angeles, but can a development studio really ask for gibs there? CDPR got gibs for Cyberpunked 2077 and we've seen how that turned out.
Obviously he meant channel awesome dude, all that collective autism keeps sega afloat

I think everything related to Mobius: 25/30 Years Later was kinda dumb as shit and pigeonholed the run, especially since Penders used said pigeonholing as a condition for him to look the other way on continuing the run after he sued.

More serious answer, probably Creative Assembly. (Best known for the Total War franchise, and recently hit jackpot with Total War Warhammer). Even so, I don't think CA's success is anything close to say, Blizzard or anything, so I doubt they're the one keeping SEGA afloat.

CA = creative assembly

California is now a shithole of unoriginal woke AIDS

Isnt porn banned from that board? anyway, all I see is sperging about that shit comic that somehow is still going on
I'm using the term erotic rather loosely. It's not lewd per se, but you can tell the artist or commissioner drew it/had it drawn to jerk off to it.

How sega is still in business its beyond me, probably CA?
Sonic is still a money maker, but they also have Yakuza, PSO2, Atlus in general, Total War, Hatsune Miku, nostalgia baiting, and other ventures outside of video games such as TMS. Though i've heard rumor is Frontiers is a do or die moment for the video game portion of the business and if it doesnt meet expectations bad things might happen...

The source is 4chan's /fast/ threads, not the most reliable source, sure, but it does seem like the company is taking steps to rid itself of the game portion. For exanple, restructuring that portion of the conpany, potentially for ease of sale

At thr same time they're also said to making billion dollar "super games" with built in NFT support out of their more unloved franchises, such as Jet Set Radio, so who knows.
The link you posted literally says that their video game division boomed during the pandemic while they fell short because of their amusement division, which fell way short because of covid.
Wouldn't make any sense to get rid of the part that is actually bringing the money

Interesting, with the way they wrote it i figured they were talking about the industry in general.

>“For example, in the past, people who played games were called gamers, but now watching games has become a culture in itself, and such people could no longer be called gamers. I think there is great potential in the relationship between people who play and watch games. We are thinking of creating new entertainment within these possibilities.”

Its over...

STOP

FUCKING STOP!

Coding on the saturn, a fate worse than death

I rather have an xtreme remake from scratch using modern tech, would be interesting to see how the whole fisheye
It'll be interesting to see how they can get this to work on the Saturn, when the original team couldn't. Granted, that was probably because of the bureaucratic shitshow shoved on them.

release date trailer

launch trailer
I played this when it came out on August 2nd and had a blast, probably some of the most fun I've had with a sonic game in a while. The one original level in the middle of the campaign doesn't overstay it's welcome, and I'm in awe of how much Robotnik Winter zone was improved.
Most of the soundtrack is good too (Sunset Park act 3 (the track in the launch trailer) notwithstanding, sounds too gba-ish at parts for my tastes)

The launch trailer spoils 2 unlockables Knuckles and Fang that I didn't know about going in because it actually released a day after launch, which is a bit of shame since I would say going in blind to those unlockables enhanced the experience for me.
