So it's supposably there's going to be a fishing minigame that people theorize you get access to after collecting purple fish hooks.

Sorry for the screenshot being blurry that's the best I think we have, also here is the article.

I guess all the Big fishing memes have gotten to them, not too sure if these fishing mini-games will help with gameplay or just be there as a fully side thing but I'm kind of intrigued about what the fuck they're doing here.

Something else they brought up is how you're searching for Memory Tokens to free Sonic's friends, sounds like Sonic Generations over again but when you mix this with the fishing minigame and purple fishhook(?) maybe you have to do minigames to save your friends which could be really ass like something akin to Tak and the Guardians of Gross, hopefully that's not what they are going to do.

Btw here is the article.

The direct of Frontiers has said it should take around "20-30" hours to finish the game. Given all the content we've seen so far, especially with there being three whole other islands not yet shown off, this seems reasonable.

Hopefully it's not all grinding in both senses of the word.

Looks like Sonic Team did it. They trolled us with an early build of the game. My hat is off to them, that was a pretty cool joke.

Sonic Fans: See!? Sonic Team is just mentally retarded and showed the worst build of the game they possibly could first just to get us interested when they show the REAL game later. This means Sonic Frontiers will be amazing now, because the next build will be even better! Next SA1 here we come!

I'm sure some people unironically think this. I am eternally sorry for thinking SEGA/Sonic Team had an IQ above a walk-in freezer, I'll just presume every Sonic game is just initially showed off in the worst way possible from now on because this seems to be the new marketing tactic going forward. SEGA has truly revolutionized video game marketing.

There are definitely sonic fans going "I told you so!" after it was confirmed that they were using an older build and I'm sure that they have an even more smug look on their faces as they see the game get a more positive reception.

That doesn't change the fact that the marketing for this game so far has been a dumpster fire. Game builds aside, why not let us know about features like control customization sooner? It really does make it seem like SEGA isn't confident about this game at all.

God dammit, I mean Aeon was always more lacking then other characters around his time like Nazo or Seelkadoom and the dude seems to have been a big fan of Second Life way back since 2012 but still, this sucks ass.

Now he didn't make Final Fantasy Sonic X just has his OC in it and did some voice acting, the main guy seems to be a little woke himself as well though.

Part 7 supposably is still a thing but I'm prepared to see them to make Aeon troon out in some way, the wiki seems to have some weird extra backstory for him, I didn't even bother with the reading it but it's there.

Sonic Team had to scrap its first pass at Sonic Frontiers
"We knew people were going to start watching videos of Sonic Frontiers and not be able to play it," creative officer Takashi Iizuka tells us of the fan response. "We're showing them this new open zone format when they still don't really even understand what open zone is. We were curious what kind of the feedback there would be and we do understand the comments that are coming in, because they don't know what open zone and what this new open zone gameplay is supposed to be."

"They're taking a look at the video and comparing it to other games that are already out there. We understand that people are going to do that and we look to the future and being able to explain more as we get closer. From here until the launch of the product we have many opportunities to teach people what open zone is, what this game really is and not having them think about comparing it to what exists out there already but being able to look at the game for what it is and enjoy it for what it is."
"Dude, you just don't understand, man! This is more deep than you think bruh!"

Sonic Frontiers’ Combat Was Inspired By the Sonic Movie
“The first [Sonic the Hedgehog] movie really caught me by surprise. We have been focusing on how Sonic is supposed to run, jump and fight within our games, but the movie showed us an entirely new approach. They came up with a great interpretation of Sonic, which became a huge inspiration for Sonic Frontiers’ development,” said Kishimoto.

This is just Phantasy Star Online 2 with a Sonic skin.
Touché, you mega faggot, touché.

In other relating new, Mardic of Tails Channel (and dub) fame is doing some kind of project with SEGA to advertise Sonic Origins.

Kind of funny given his past stuff relating to the brand, but to be fair it was the same with Tyson Hesse as well.

At least the previous combat tried to incorporate Sonic's traditional elements.
This looks like one of those chinese mobile phone games.

Also supposedly this goes past just a shitpost and there are people that genuinely believe that the game is built off of PSO2, haven't played it myself so I can't say but who knows.

Was watching an old BounceBracelet (Mardiculous and Jesse Pajamas video) video and they ended up talking about a open world Sonic game years before it would become a thing.

Conversation starts at 15:1 and the it goes for all of the second video.

Jesse is for a open world Sonic game and Evan is less for it, they don't say anything mind-blowing but I brought this up mainly because I'm curious just how radically their opinions must have changed since Frontiers became a thing.

Evan is doing official Sonic stuff and Jesse's public presence is all but gone so god's know if we've ever get a real answer to that question but doesn't really matter either way, just found this interesting because talk of an open-world Sonic game was never really a big thing until now at least of my knowing.

To be fair, they've only done it for like three games (colors, generations and forces) with it being well received (or at least tolerated) with the first two.
Unleashed has 2D sections too.

Edit:
Seems the theory about Sonic going through old levels (Green Hill and Sky Sanctuary to name a couple) to regain his memories is spot on. These levels will be glitchy as fuck at first but steadily fill in as he goes along. No idea if it's the same exact level design or not, but hopefully it isn't just re-using Generations assets as they're pretty old at this point.

Comparing it to the Sky Sanctuary stage in Generations, it's different level design. There aren't any comparable rail segments in Generations.
