This is pretty retarded and just confusing at first-glance.

If the 'free DLC' pack is included with every version of the game, why list it separately?
Edit: I'm retarded. There's three separate DLC packs (Start Dash, Premium Fun, and Classic Music). The first is only free if your pre-order the game, most likely paid after release.

The "Digital Deluxe Edition" doesn't even come with all the content, you still have to buy the DLC for the full game.

They really want to fleece Sonic fans out of as much money - a respectable and reliable grift.

No lives in widescreen and you have to buy a "digital deluxe" edition just like colors ultimate just to get basic features like missions, music and mirror mode?

No thanks Sega, I'll stick with the decompilations and 3 AIR.

This is despicable, the shit they're locking off is ridiculous. Camera controls, character animations on the menus, letterbox backgrounds. These are so small and insignificant. Daddy Sega clearly said "we need this to have deluxe versions with exclusive gameplay content" and the devs had to scramble to figure out what content they can actually gate from a retro game compilation.
What are the coins for? Which classic tracks are they locking behind a paywall? Did buying the rights to Sonic 3's music cost so much that they're passing the buck onto the consumer?

Camera controls
Didn't even notice this shit at first, what the fuck?

It's the same shit they pulled with Colors ultimate by locking remixes and other miscellaneous bullshit behind a "digital deluxe edition"

I can't wait for the Sonic Frontiers Digital Deluxe Edition, can't you guys? I wonder what content Sega will gracefully cut out of the base game give to us for an extra cost!

I assume that the main menu will be in 3d and let you select the different Sonic games, and if you buy the digital deluxe edition you can use the right stick to look around the island.

No online multiplayer, the one thing people keep bringing up for years lol

Re: Open-world Sonic games.

It could work, especially if they go all the way with leaning into being a Zelda clone.

And on the Wii U, no less. It was more enjoyable than the base game, but of course it was also restricted to the Wii U.

They showed two second of Sonic CD and it wasn't as great for Sonic 3 either.

Also the music DLC thing reminds me of "Sonic: 3D in 2D" but worse because it's paid for.

I'm super hyped for this and only would ever be if they added any real game-changing stuff like unused content re-added into the games in some sort but that will probably not happen (aside from the Hidden Palace Zone but even that is kind a old news at this point.)

At least they used classic characters this time. Every other colection they released all used modern looking characters

The reason why they did that is pretty obvious, it has to do with how Classic Sonic was basically reckoned in Sonic 4 and almost forgotten before his reappearance in Sonic Generations.

It all has to do with the Meta Era tbh and that's not a 100% thing but I always find it interesting how if Sonic 4 was released after Generations it would probably use the old designs and the game wouldn't pull a Sonic 2 with "Splash Hill" and just go with Green Hill Zone.

Some things that've just come to light:
- The co-devs of Mania helped with 3&K Remastered. Sonic 1, 2 & CD confirmed to be the Whitehead versions.
- Music test includes tracks from 3D Blast, Chaotix etc.
- Online leaderboards are a thing
- Mirror Mode is an unlockable in the base game

Also seems like most of the shit on the chart can be unlocked in-game (mirror mode, etc.) so it's just for people who're lazy and don't want to wait to unlock things. That said, the chart is pretty stupid.

Last time that was a thing was on Sonic Generations 3DS. It was a fun-as-fuck mode that also allowed you to gain more points to increase your rank and give you more decorations for your profile card. I don't fucking get why SEGA hasn't added it to every other sonic game since then.

FFS, you can go on FightCade 2 right now and play versus mode Sonic 2 and 3 with anyone you want, but SEGA decides not to add that shit officially for... reasons.

>Forcing people to be faggots and pre-order to get everything
I know what game I'm not going to buy.

There is nothing funnier than seeing a company milk their classic games. Nothing is sacred to them and I have to marvel at how low they can go and consoomers still bite.

Edit: Hold on, this game is $40. You're all fucking stupid if you buy this thing.

Knuckles isn't in Sonic CD, are you fucking kidding me?

Guess cutting content for Digital Deluxe Edition was more important than adding Knuckles to Sonic CD!

Edit: The game is confirmed to have Denuvo DRM again, just like they did for Mania. Every single update about this game makes it sound less and less appealing, from the price, to no lives, to no knuckles, to having Denuvo.

I don’t think anyone mentioned this before, but I fucking hate Tyson Hesse’s version of Sonic. He always looks too soft and cheery to me. The old Sonic wasn’t like that.
I’m gonna use Sonic CD screenshots because that’s clearly what his design is based on.

I'm fine with both artstyles, but there is a specific vibe coming off sonic missing from these new animations present in older ones.
...HOWEVER. they gave him BROWN EYES! RUINED FOREVER!!! SONIC'S EYES AREN'T BROWN!!! :c

Speaking of the "too friendly" shit though, I've noticed a lot of youtube essay videogame guys that cover sonic these days on top of now seemingly being in the whole "sonic never good in 3d" or "sonic good in 3d but the adventure games are HORRIBLY AGED because of the other gameplay styles I don't understand!" seem to either forget or assume sonic's mildly dickish/deliquent attitude was solely a USA localization thing, which baffles me considering the localized mobius shit was the kind where sonic was literally giving kids PSAs and part of the reason those are so infamous is due to how fucking weird it is having sonic the fucking hedgehog of all people going "don't go inside the washing machine kids! statistically every year at least 1 kid does this and ends up dead!"
Also, even with the unaltered OVA clips mostly flagged off youtube by bandai's streaming service bots, this one survives
If you show people like that examples like this they WILL write it off as "oh that's just the bad sonic OVA" but there's just CONSTANT examples of this characterization of sonic even in things where he's more friendly. It's odd, being a character directly inspired by cartoons from the first half of the 1900s he seems to have been slowly meeting a fate similar to those characters in modern day where perceptions have distorted amongst people in media talking about him, as has the writing of the character.

I recently saw a youtube video review by some "RETRO GAMES!!! WOW!!!" kinda guy that I shit you not called the fact powerups were hidden in the stage behind small puzzles in SA2 something like "too obscure confusing and old school" for him. I'm guessing those are the kinda guys these things are being piecemealed apart for. Unlockables you need to work for are too hard.

Looks like a lazy, greedy collection. At the very least I expected Tails and Knuckles to be playable across each game. Based on how relatively prominently they're showing Amy, I think they should also have included her, otherwise you barely see her and only in one of the 4 games.

Is mirror mode type stuff the only "new" content? I wasn't expecting much but it'd be nice if there was something significant added.
