If you need to constantly ban people expressing an opinion that disagrees with yours, you're not unbiased or centrists. And you don't need to be unbiased to allow people to express their opinion, you just need to not punish them for expressing their opinion.

I disagree. Everyone knows conservapedia is a joke, and they're so openly stupid it's readily apparent. RationalWiki has done a much better job of seeming legit, and truthfully, they do seem a bit more legit than conservapedia (I mean the dude tried to rewrite the bible).

I think RationalWiki is more damaging because more people think it's legitimate and trustworthy, while presenting an extremely slanted take on things. At the same time, a lot of their older content is still worthwhile (the explanations of various logical fallacies, for example).

That's something funny to me, the new content is full of the shit they're complaining about in the old content. It's all ad hominem now.

For a long time it was one of the better threads, admitting that shit was rightly and truly fucked in Venezuela. One of the more moving posts was someone talking about how their relatives in the country used to ask them for various sweets and candies that were hard to obtain, and now, they were only asking for staple foods and toothpaste.

I can't imagine what the thread is like now that the orange man bad crowd has inevitably invaded it, though.

I've never really spent any time looking at C-SPAM; I knew it was rabidly left but it generally wasn't even terribly amusing to browse to laugh at the craziness because it also had cliquey bullshit that made it hard to parse. The C-SPAM Venezuela thread has finally given me the desired nonsense.

Aside from the Guaido slurs as you've noted looking at merely one page I've already seen much of the decline blamed on not just any sanctions, but Trump sanctions. Now, from memory the sanctions on Venezuela that had any real scope greatly postdated the most significant economic decline in absolute terms - iirc before 2016 they were in respect of funds relating to a few specific government officials, not the country itself. It was not Trump that imposed those sanctions, obviously, and, again, his ascendancy was after much of the economic decline. Another supposed cause was that the opposition to Maduro are waging an economic war against the establishment by intentionally hoarding or stopping production of key products. This is funny because it attempts to cast people stopping production because real profits don't exceed costs in the current economic conditions as economic terrorists - like such an activity would be sustainable, and the profit issue doesn't signal a real problem but merely a bit of bourgeois warfare.
