The postrating system cut down immensely on a plague of people just saying "I agree" or empty-quoting which is an immediate tell that someone is from SA because that's the only forum which has absolutely no way to agree with a post without just saying you agree with a post.

4chan give us shit for it because post voting is a very reddit thing but it's necessary. IB threads are 300~750 posts long and are pruned almost immediately, everyone gets a chance to say whatever because turnover is so high. If you want any chance for a thread to be legible, you need a way to throw out junk posts. Imagine this 555 page thread if we didn't have ratings, it'd probably be twice the size. And yes, some people do read through threads that are hundreds of pages long when they're bored.

Vote 5, move on.

I agree.

It's actually a bad system in Reddit because the most upvoted posts appear first and often hog all the discussion throw reply chains, and downvoted posts get hidden.

A lot of the upgrades and purchases on SA are automated so they'd have to be coded into Xenforo and lowtax doesn't have the skills and won't pay someone to do it.
xenforo has a built in purchasing system which automatically handles account upgrades and is easy enough that i can operate it, and i'm about as dumb a fucker as you'll find on the internet.

there are alot of things about goon culture that can be explotied take the guy handing out those trump avatars

Give goons away to vandalise eachother and they will be good little pay pigs

The reddit system is also bad because it leads to circlejerks where there's some "official opinion" that always gets upvoted and all others disappear down below with little discussion. Granted, a lot of times they disappear because they're crap but it's a system that leads to the discussion going in circles, that together with threads falling off the first page of the subreddt rather quickly leads to the same threads being posted and having the same things posted in them over and over again, with no evolution in thought regarding the topic or that discussion being carried into unrelated threads. It's a good system to talk about some unique, current thing that is happening where there's a limited amount of stuff to say about it, not good for ongoing topics.

We already had it quite a few times but Lowtax will not ever invest any work in that forum or pay somebody to do it. It might very well be that he's at a point where he also can't really pay somebody full-time, which SA would desperately need. Also fact is that I've never seen radiums alleged spaghetti code. Knowing Lowtax and his tendency to blame others for his own shortfalls and also exaggerate or even outright lie doing so, (and being in general a petty and deceptive bitch) my guesstimate is that it might not even be all that bad in the end. ZDR is not a reliable narrator here either as he's a) also a little bitch b) did not really do a lot with SA besides thought-policing people, installing his cronies and cucking Lowtax. I think some time LowT even paid some people to fix the forums when it was down for a while, but knowing Lowtax these people were probably the cheapest pajeets he could find and they probably also ripped him off.

Like it has been said, it's also 100% on inertia - running out of the pockets of a bunch of sad neckbeard computer janitors (some turned proud womyn now, and having pulled other proud womyn into the E/N safe space) who's only 20something memories are SA-related. This actually might save Lowtax in the end from getting a 9-to-5 if he doesn't screw up too badly.

Speaking about E/N, we should start to screencap some stuff there. Last time I checked it was hilarious.

Lowtax knows this is the case he's just going to shit on it because his current rats nest of code can't do it.

Lowtax's money comes from his Let's Plays with 1 year olds on YouTubes. Or that's where he threw down some major e-begging right now. Poor bastard is going to have to get a real job soon, good thing the market is hurting for labor, and they'll pay anyone to kick boxes around in a warehouse right now.

If post ratings eating into "discussion" is really such a worry they could just replace the standard like/dislike rates with a series of useless gimmick ratings and have goons pay $100 for a personal one.

Obviously none of the rates would be negative; even an ironic one like :islamic: would be a vehicle for rating warfare where goon cliques flip their shit and mass negrate each other.

I think they want to keep the hundreds of posts saying I agree/^^THIS/*Quote post but say nothing*, because it bloats the threads and makes them look far more active. If they took out all those shit posts can you imagine how small SA threads would be.

Someone has started a ZDR thread in GBS. I wonder how long it will last.

ZDR is a pile of shit and I'm glad he's gone. Add him to a long list of terrible admins that made the SA forums shit.

I remember after years of "I love team barry" or what ever the radium catch phrase was lowtax posted the chat logs looking for sympathy where Radium just fucking bullshits him on ETA of the search funch and the coding. he did.

Does anyone know if its posible to copy the Vbullitin data base and have a test enviroment for upgrading it?

Of course it is. Exporting the database doesn't destroy or otherwise render the live one unusable. Given the probable size of SA's database making an export would probably be a lot more complicated than your everyday database export/import, but it's doable.

All he did was complain about how difficult the job he volunteered to do was, never actually made any visible changes, had screeching tantrums about politics over and over and over while banning anyone who disagreed with him because he was a thin skinned faggot, constantly threatened to quit to force lowtax into doing what he wanted and enabled some of the worst posters to have control over the forums because he was desperate for their approval.

At least some tattered remnants of the community are willing to speak out now that he is gone

but he still has almost 400 personal bans, not including the ones FAU did to back him up when anyone criticized him. Between deleting GBS, protecting and enabling people like BBG that destroyed countless threads, deleting 30,000+ of his own posts during a tantrum to royally fuck the forums, forcing lowtax into taking woke actions or inaction and his antics in the politics forums he did some pretty significant damage.

The entertaining thread was gassed. SA sucks dick

You can still get punished for mocking old admins so I don't know why JakeP thought he would get away with immediately making fun of ZenDeathRobot when literally-just-as-bad FactsAreUseless is still in charge.

In addition to the thread being killed, the OP was banned and now the subject is going to be a forbidden topic.

I can't wait until FAU has a meltdown and people crawl out of the woodwork to shittalk him.

Vote 5, move on.

The best part of that thread rating system is that it really should be that simple. It's a scale of 1 to 5.

5=Gold
1=Crap

And yet there are STILL goons posting in every damn thread to say "Rated 1" or whatever.

Doing exactly what the system was supposed to prevent.
