Yeah, you have the basics of the story right, Aa was from his first name, Aaron, and trek was from Star Trek. Since he was a big enough name in the Star Trek community he'd go to conventions and people would know his real name. From there its a simple Google search combined with PA's online reporting guide lines...

SASS was originally started as a forum that wanted to make SA better, but Lowtax just wrote us off as permabanned pants shitting IRC trolls. That's when we found out that ~100 active shitposters on SASS was way more funnier than thousands of goons.
I doubt any of us had any illusions that Lowtax would take criticism seriously, no matter how polite or constructive it was. I imagine a lot of us were just mad how we and others were treated, technically having been paying customers that would literally get banned from the site for asking about broken site functionality we'd have paid for. Since he viewed himself as the big awesome Dear Leader bossman that everyone HAD to like, so much as thinking someone thought a negative thought about him would cause him to ban people. That's not hyperbole. Lowtax literally banned people for things people said about him or the site in private--off the site, in real life, whichever. He actually did this to people that were paying customers. He tried to act like a tough no-shit guy but it's just a disguise for how fucking insecure he is.
SASS was kind of a proto-Kiwifarms but geared towards the SA and its moderators/admins. It was nice having a place insult Lowtax and speak truthfully about him and laugh at the dumpster fire that was SA's management. The real "comedy gold" was laughing at radium's ineptitude and Lowtax's continued defense of him.
The SJW infection at SA is actually just the symptom of a larger problem--that being Lowtax, and his personality, and his need for approval by his inner circle and friends. The problem sort of started with his unfunny fat friend EPG and his feminist girlfriend Fistgrrl, from what I can remember, started the slow rot since EPG loved being political and left wing at inappropriate times... and his girlfriend? Username explains it all.
It was pretty "Rich" (hah, hah) for Lowtax to defense mechanism over "a forum about a forum!" (typical "serious business lol" goon shit) when they were pretty much dedicated to sniffing their own farts about how much better SA was than the rest of the internet ("The Internet Makes You Stupid") and kind of liked to harass people IRL at times. Lowtax would also literally get people to DDoS websites that stole his content, which seems cute until you realize it's going to fuck up other people's shared hosting and a DMCA would have worked fine. Lowtax obsesses over others, pretends he doesn't, and then uses defense mechanisms to wave away anything he doesn't want to be reality.
Of all the lolcows I hate, I probably hate Lowtax among the worst because of the sheer amount of unwarranted ego he has and how he technically would scam people out of money and then commit retribution to anyone who dared complained how he did things.
