He mentioned that Notch used the SomethingAwful community for feedback, beta testing and other purposes that helped the game grow into the behemoth that it is today, but never 'paid his dues' back to the community. That Notch abandoned SomethingAwful as soon as he didn't need them anymore and didn't give them any money for their help.

He's really bitter about people doing this in general. He's mentioned that about Night Vale, Mega64 and other content creators too. He seems to despise these people for being in his community and later getting popular.

So, he's basically the rich land owner/CEO who wants a disproportionate cut of the money that his tenants/subordinates work hard to earn, despite the fact he contributed nothing besides having his name on the plaque in front of the property?

I think there's an unstated, but seething, resentment that "drawcard" posters don't inhabit SA but only the most successful of them attract criticism for it. I've never seen Zoe Quinn get criticised for "forgetting her roots" and returning to SA briefly to promote her game and then leaving again, yet she would have been quite the drawcard poster during Gamergate when SA was still in full on SJW mode.

Minecraft does (or at least did at some point) have a shout out to Something Awful in one of those text messages that appears in the title screen. as a pitiful nerd i used to post in the minecraft thread and irc channel while notch was developing multiplayer and i guess that thread helped notch a bit with testing and bad ideas or whatever.

It was part of some shady MLM scheme and LowT was billing it as some magical health elixir that'll give you energy, boost your immune system, cure cancer, grow your penis etc. etc. , and the goons weren't having any of it. It was probably the first time the goons gave him actual criticism, and that led to him melting down and him saying his most infamous line, "SO DONT FUCKING BUY IT, DONT FUCKING DRINK IT, DONT FUCKING CLICK MY LINKS".

The biggest part of the mangosteen thing was that the links Lowtax was sharing were the type that if you clicked them and bought something, Lowtax got a cut of it. That's what caused the goon meltdown.

Not that he was just shilling the juice, but that he was doing it in a shady way to scam just a bit more money out of his goons. Then came his infamous blowup where he acted like he was just trying to do the goons a favor and they were ungrateful.
