Whats funny is I had a crossing with old man genespicler. The topic of trans pronouns came up. a point was made that "them" is plural and thus cant be used for singular. He came in and hemmed and hawed about how 300 years ago people where decrying the death of the language for not using thee and thou and that English "evolves" and shit. I asked him how he as a teacher handles that standards are indeed arbitrary, If a student wrote in leet speak, text short hand, or god forbid emoji's. Odly he never got back to me about it.

Another fun story for people is that there is a D&D goon named sedan chair who often talked about being black one day he posts a picture of a gun in the gun sub forum. It shows his hand and that he isn't black.

That photo got posted in the china thread and a goon ate a probation for "threating" or something, from genesplicer.

But the best part of him and that thread was a bunch of sjw concern trolling faggots hated it because it had none Chinese people saying "wow things here are really backwards and weird and honestly awful." well of course that all motivated by racism so when the nong thing came up there was a goon who would follow ever utterance of nong with a fucking paragraph explaining the meaning, nong is literally "agriculture" and fuck their is even a state bank with it in the title like "farmers bank" etc.

Turns out the biggest Goon addition to pop-culture in the last 10 years was them just ripping off Red Letter Media

They are the best Av's on the forums and whoever makes them is pretty good at it. I wish they would give me one.

The old "Retard Faggot" AVs were great

But the singular 'they/them/their' does exist and is used all the time in standard English when referring to people of unknown gender.

What if we're talkin about troons tho?

Call them by whatever pronouns you're comfortable using, tbh. I'm just saying it's kind of weird how people act like the singular they is some kind of arbitrary tranny invention despite everyone using it on a daily basis.

To be honest the only time I heard it used was when someone was trying to hide the gender of the person they were with. like jr kids not wanting to tip off the parents they were with a boy/girl.

also they/them is forever trashed by that shmorky pronoun comic

Singular they for some random person of unspecified gender is well attested since Chaucer and wasn't at all controversial until the late 1800s. Using it to refer to a specific known person is definitely newer but "they is only plural" is flat out wrong.

I almost wanna go see if there was a school house rock song about it.

As for Chaucer he was from the 1300's hell old English lasted from 450's to 1150's so he was/is more close to that time period.

Yeah the "rules" for grammer and proper English usage are long and tanged history full of contradictions and basically different people pushing their own idea of what is and isn't proper.

Sure it was fine in the 1300s (Chaucer), and the 1500s (Shakespeare), and the 1600s (the King James bible), and the 1800s (Thackeray, Austen, Dickens), and everyone I talk to in real life says it, but my elementary school English teacher taught me it's actually wrong, so it's basically like using emojis in formal writing.

Seems like a totally fair challenge. Anyone who said "yep, I'm looking at his picture and he actually is attractive" totally wouldn't be under threat of probation or ban by mods who have a symbolic fight to win.

God FAU I read somewhere that lowtax had a talk with FAU and or something but he did fuck off for a few months, I noticed a few posts of his in GBS and now he is back to doing his thing....and being useless.

Also he has a boner for closing threads.

But yeah if someone followed Black mage/LMO ( what ever the fuck his name is. The goon who claims to be part black and native American and suffered racism. )
and posted the photos of him showing a totally white mother holding a rather normal looking white baby. they would be banned so fast for doxxing

Wow, those cuck mods sure took offense at the notion of feminists being surrounded by thirsty betas and wanting more masculine men to fuck... I wonder why

No, it gets used all the time. Think about anytime somebody's had a conversation with you like "Hey so an idiot just crashed into my car." How do you refer to that unknown idiot of undisclosed gender? Take a blind shot with "he" or "she"? Go for a "he or she"? Ask "was it a man or a woman?" before continuing the conversation? Refer to them as "the idiot who crashed into your car" instead of by pronoun? No. All of those are awkward as fuck. You use the singular they, without even thinking about it, because it's a completely normal and natural part of the English language and always has been.
