We haven't had a murder since the Slenderman thing. We should probably do something about that.

It's almost the season for another Puckins to happen. Wasn't William Freund one of the first aspie spree-killers out there?

The old userbase and the new userbase want different environments and from a commercial point of view it's smarter to go with whatever is going to bring in new users who are willing to spend money even if that drives away the old user-base (who, for the most part, have probably already spent as much as they're ever going to spend).
Somethingawful is benefitting financially from a high churn rate, so it makes sense to have a forum that's as shitty and ban-happy as possible.
There's no way to fix this, unless it's changed to an annual subscription model.
Another way to make money would be to sell user demographics to companies like BlueKai.

Isn't that what the guy who used to own 2ch do?

This thread really needs an "Irony" rating for all the people white-knighting Lowtax whilst calling people who care about SA drama autists on a website dedicated to chronicling the adventures of an autistic man and his Pokemon/Sonic OC.

Nah, this is more of an anonymized, aggregate solution where you link user demographics across different devices.
For instance, by using an app on smartphones when connecting to the forums, you link the forum user information to the unique identity of the smartphone, so anytime you see that unique identity, you can map it to the forum user.
That would then be anonymized and sent in aggregate.
Facebook makes a lot of money this way, by being a data provider.

Lots of people have stated dissatisfaction with the current state of SA. Only a couple have felt the need to go full mega-autist about it.

No one cares about Chris anymore, just like no one really cares about Something Awful in 2016.
You're right, but @Lowtax writing walls of text where his only argument is an appeal to authority is highly entertaining.

"16 years ago, I founded Somethingawful. Now where were we... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. I didn't have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones."

calling someone hypocritical = hateboner now? lol, besides grossly overestimating the emotional states of neurotypicals do you often have a hard time 'reading between the lines' to understand "the point"?
The only "point" I need to take away from this is you have a hard time letting go the fact that Lowtax doesn't run a forum the way you think it should be run and you're incredibly salty about it.

SA hasn't mattered on the internet in a decade and can't imagine why anyone would be this worked up about it in the first place.

I haven't given a shit about SA in over a decade and can't imagine why anyone would be this worked up about it in the first place.
Personally, I just like watching 9/11 in slow motion.

Wait we mattered on the internet?
Tbf he doesn't run it at all.
The popular opinion a while back seemed to be that I was ruining the forums with my style of moderation, so I completely stepped back and removed myself from it to see if that was in fact the issue.

And that was how you found out the issue is entitled idiots that think a site with thousands of users should cater to them personally?
