On an unrelated note, for people speaking of archiving the SA forums, I know someone who possibly has the bandwidth (and account) to try and get it, but not the know-how to set it up such that it doesn't download useless pages or follow bad links like the reply or quote buttons. I doubt it's necessary, but it sounds like a few people want the memento.

One goon back in 2012, Hoborg, did scrape / archive most of the forums and put up a search at dassaas.tk and later saas.liarpedia.org. He was later banned for some FetLife drama and took down his site. It might be possible to contact him and get a copy.

It's funny to watch CSPAM and TGRS get two completely different reactions from the mods simultaneously.

C-Spam, one of the main draws of the forum, is getting that Alpha Dog Management tactic where there is no compromise or ground given. "You will not be a top level forum." There is no reason to deny that request since it actually doesn't matter or affect anything. The only reason to stonewall them is because the moderators don't want to give them what they want. Their prominent posters are banned/permabanned for being too outspoken.

TGRS, the extreme minority, repeatedly controls the state of the entire forum. They get moderators, subforums and posters removed at their whim. The moderators repeatedly apologize and Lowtax publicly humiliates himself begging for forgiveness as he is relentlessly shit on. Anyone who dares punish any of them, including lowtax, has their decision reversed.

It's also funny that they've completely banned all negative references to virtue signalling when this is what the forum has become. A shrieking mentally ill fat man claims to have the highest diversity score so you destroy everyone and everything for him while telling hundreds or thousands of other people to fuck off. They are fucking insane and are having psychotic breaks over a fucking internet forum. There is no reason anyone other than a therapist should ever listen to these people.

The reason why that quote was poignant is because it's irony. Poetic, dramatic irony. Something Awful became the forum people take screenshots of while their posters panic and fall into a frenzy. The thing is, a few forums they raided genuinely did try the "let's see how they like it" approach of trying to take screenshots of Something Awful and mock them, and it didn't work. Now Kiwifarms is just doing it naturally, while Something Awful users are both complaining and panicking as they eat each other alive. In essence, Something Awful quite literally turned into the same spectacle they used to enjoy. If this sounds sentimental, it isn't. It's simply interesting to me, stepping back and getting a sense of perspective on this.
