ya we don't want these spergs ruining another thread like they derailed my steampunk thread.

Ironicus, who was entangled in a similar kind of scandal involving D&D 5E and is pretty big on social justice in tabletop roleplaying.
God damn, you need to start taking some serious stock of your life when that becomes your claim to fame.

I used to be a pretty big fan of Retsupurae (well, of Diabeetus. I always found Slowbeef to be a nasally, egotistical cunt who just whines and whines while his partner tries to actually be funny) and Chip & Ironicus. The latter used to be the only LPers I genuinely enjoyed. Then shit all went to hell. Retsupurae doesn't even do what people watched them for anymore, and C&I turned into obnoxious, whiny libtards (fully agree with RJ on VoidBurger's influence. Just the worst...). It's a damn shame.

Also I still gotta chuckle at how RP fell for bullshit LPs multiple times, whining and criticizing them like they were legit, and being forced to remove the videos (or at least one of them) to cover their asses. Especially the one where they RPed a Cr1tikal video completely unaware that Cr1tikal is the LP equivalent of a shitposter. Hearing Slowbeef do his usual indignant shtick over someone clearly fucking around is just a schadenfreudian delight.

Honestly, I kinda prefered when they do vids around long plays of shitty and obscure games. In particular their Darkseed 2 series.

I do kinda agree about Slowbeef. He was whining and complaining a lot in that Sonic 06 playthrough to the point where I felt it was a bit much. I mean sure, the game's horrible, but even then, a lot of the situations he got himself killed in could have been done easily with some patience and common sense.

Like you I also prefer Diabeetus.

Threads kinda veering off and just talking about let's plays, actual content people or I'm gonna have to close it or try and get it moved.

Speaking of Lowtax's office, I think it shows up in a couple of videos on his YouTube channel, Gaming Garbage.

(featuring Shmorky)

Lowtax's car (the silver one) appears in this video, but it doesn't seem to be covered in SA decals as previously stated.

I'm interested in seeing the picture(s) of the closing party of that office, if anyone has them.

Mangosteen.
Don't forget about the Ambien and Barefoot wine.

I don't know SA's finances, but I've recently thought that the revenue it brings in would just cover hosting (which I think is what, $15,000 annually?), Lowtax's salary (he's got two kids) and the stipends I assume they give to front page writers.
Lowtax says it costs $3000 a month for hosting, but he's been spouting that figure since 2003. He also pays roughly that amount in child support / alimony, though. He also said he pays the front page writers something like $50 per article, but that was several years ago. He probably pays less now, knowing Lowtax.

Heh. Registered for Something Sensitive once way back and was immediately banned for not agreeing with them politically.
I tried registering there once but I never got a confirmation email back. So, GAPO, if you're reading this, where is it you fuckin' milkylicker?!?

They have an AMA thread on the proprietor.
I think it's quite humorous that a barely literate middle aged Alabama hot dog man hustled "The Smartest Forums on the Internet!"(TM), and he's still in business.

Disclaimer: I've had an active account since 2004. I remember when it was all good times, man, good times...I think the day SA's fate was sealed was the day Helldump2K died. I posted almost exclusively in there and in FYAD, in the end. I haven't logged in since...at least 2010, I think.
Helldump was always a lame ripoff of SASS. Though they did shine when they drove Two Worlds nuts.

I also had an account from 2004, but I was permabanned in 2007 for posting a lot of "SASSy" stuff, so technically, I am a permabanned pants-shitting neckbeard IRC Lunix troll. To give SA a little credit, I posted several sassy things before that. I think they didn't ban me immediately was because they were things you had to be a SASS member to get, so by banning me they would be indirectly acknowledging that they read SASS.

No, DemoniusX was the gigantic fat vlogger who said all kinds of awesome shit..."and I came in my condom! And it felt great!" Good times, good times. Married his equally lulzy wifebeast, moved in with her and her fuckin mom in Nebraska or Oklahoma or something, still makes stupid videos, is still a fat fuckin tard.

This is DemoniusX, for anyone interested:

The closure itself was a funny event. Lowtax put out an open invitation to a closing party on Twitter and SA for any nearby goons to swing by, drink beer and get some free merch. In the end, only one goon showed up that evening and found Lowtax passed out on the couch surrounded by empty beer cans. There is a photo of this.

I think this is the picture:
n9920.jpeg

I don't think he was having a closing party, he just posted a thread that he wanted to give away some stuff / clean up the office. The part about one goon showing up is true. It's kinda sad because if he posted that in 2004 or even in 2008/09, they'd be goons racing each other three states away for the chance to meet the big pig himself.

Lowtax has recently been on a banning spree, as he usually does towards the end of the month.

Why the end of the month? That's when it's time to pay the bills, and everyone who reregisters to SA just gave Lowtax 10 dollars again.

SASS likes to joke it's what Lowtax does when his booze and pill fund runs low.

Does Lowtax even want to run SA anymore?

Lowtax never wanted to "run" SA, he just wanted to be a wacky zany successful internet businessman who made fun of Derek Smart and John Romero.

I will admit I am biased against Lowtax who'll get thrush from suckin' on one too many toes, and I will make fun of him for being a pill-poppin' loser, but I will always respect him for Jeff K, Cliff Yablonski, and those old "Steal of a Century" videos.

As @BALLZ-BROKEN said, he didn't want to run it per-say, jsut overlook it and hope that it becomes successful. That may have worked back then, but now? Not so much.

I feel, at this point, if SA want to be serious about themselves, Lowtax should start to rethink all the practices he's been doing.
Could it be too late, though? I mean they're past the "chantard" phase but a lot of Goons hold onto the ideal that they're still the nexus of the Internet somehow.

Well that all depends. But it's definitely getting to the point of no return.
I got my account a good few years back and poke my head in once in a while. I think most everyone knows the site has been circling the drain for a good few years by now. But a lot of people who post there can be pretty exceptional, so all bets are off.

I remember SASS threads from 2009 that said SA didn't have much longer, it's past the point, etc. etc...

But here we are in 2015 saying the same thing, it's starting to remind of Alex Jones and Zero Hedge posts about how the USD isn't going to be around for much longer, the US is going to lose its superpower status, etc., etc...

But I can tell you how SA is going to go down:

A little bit at first.

Then all at once.

I'd say it'd just happen all at once there and then. Not a gradual recession.

What the hell was up with the hotdog/Wayne Robinson thing anyway? Was that even an intentional hustle? Or just a higher up at SA being a sped?

I think a part of the reason for this is that Lowtax came up in an era where money grew on trees to those in the Internet world. Even the dumbest shit on earth, like buying a URL for something along the lines of "pizza.com", could pay for your retirement. He probably thought his gravy train was just coming on a slower trajectory.

He's still unforgivably retarded for never figuring out that all the good times are past and gone, but it does at least explain his stupidity in addition to the stupidity of several other figures in the same age range.

The latter. Some SA mods promoted the kickstarter for the hotdog stand as totes awesome, silenced anyone who called it a scam, turned out to be not so much as a scam as donating money to a total idiot redneck (who also turned out to be a stone conservative, which drove many of the SJWs on SA insane), and ever since they've tried to bomb his Facebook page with bad reviews and dirty his name because they got burned.

SASS alternates between mocking the guy and applauding him for remaining open, since every second he succeeds still makes goons rage.

Wow, what a bunch of cunt-blood rags.

And wasn't there another incident when a mod was completely humiliated by the frontman of Smash Mouth and Guy Fieri in an eating contest or some shit? How did that happen?

That was a mod by the name of DocEvil, ED has a partial writeup of that incident on their Something Awful page.

It started with this article on the front page. http://www.somethingawful.com/news/smash-mouth-eggs/

It snowballed pretty quickly on Twitter, and then the Smash Mouth guy decided he'd eat two dozen eggs at a public event if people raised somewhere north of $10k for Saint Jude's. Against all expectations, the Internet pulled through and it actually happened. And it was fucking awkward as hell.

Highlights of the event:
-Guy Fieri cooked the eggs
-Smash Mouth couldn't eat all the eggs so Jon Hendren, inventor of the Egg Challenge, had to pitch in
-Jon Hendren, inventor of the Egg Challenge, revealed as an awkward-ass egg-lookin' autist with unwashed hair who spent the whole thing looking at his iPhone
-Jon Hendren, inventor of the Egg Challenge, got clowned on by the mascot of the San Jose Sharks
