lol I have no idea how I missed this thread until now.

I have plenty of stories about these kind of people, sadly I don't have many proof about it because there's 2 problems with that:
1) I'd be doxing the shit out of myself.
2) They happen in real life so it's kind of hard to have a camera recording such spontaneous moments.

If you people want, I can tell you some of my most memorable stories tho.

Anyway, back to the main topic:
Most pseudo intellectual people are just crybabies that want attention and will do whatever they can to get it, which in most cases means:
  • Repeating whatever they think a smart people would exactly say, hence why they quote a lot of other people.
  • Do what they think smart people would do, which is reading lots of books, hang around the library, etc.
  • Behave like they think smart people would do, since they probably don't know any real smart person, they just go with what the media portray as your generic smart person, which would be a complete socially inept that uses complex words and behaves awkardly.
If you mix all the things I listed, you basically have all the idiots in this thread, some rely more on just saying stupid shit and others will gladly go the extra mile and behave extra speshul.

Yeah, they do. However, there are also a lot of rightist Smart Guys:

No group is safe from these people.

Yeah that Albert Einstein was a real retard.

Isn't this just asking for a lawsuit?

Outside of California, no.

Political beliefs are not a protected class. In most states, you could literally go up to every single employee, ask them their political affiliation, and then immediately fire all Democrats or all Republicans.

Not many successful businesses would do this, though.

Because while it might not be asking for a lawsuit, it is definitely asking for a failed business.

Guys, I found it, and wow, I'm sorry. I clearly remember both quotes being much longer than this. And the alga quote wasn't even a footnote. It was smack in the middle of the text, haha.

I did hear parts of the book on audio, read by Dawkins himself, and that might have made them seem longer. The wording might not seem too pompous to you guys, but he just sound so goddamn smug about being right when reading it.

Also, this book has way, way to many fucking footnotes. Pages and pages of Dawkins spouting irrelevant information, ass kissing biologists who's work he admire, or telling the reader exactly why so and so is wrong!

EDIT: Fixed sad lack of images.

There's also the subset of people who believe that they are smarter than everyone else because they don't like smart phones or some dumb shit

Spoilering because there are big pictures and for :autism: containment

This.

"Braincels." The dudes who think they are incels, because they are just too smart for anyone to bone.

In actuality, IQ is directly correlated to reproductive success.

That's why it is evolutionarily selected for!

I secretly want to post the dumb anti-meme every time I see any of those on social media. Why don't these people get that I don't want to be social during my commute? Sometimes I wear earphones just to seem preoccupied - the least I want to do is talk to some random stranger.

I'm really surprised about this, because I'd imagine in Cali that a business firing all Republicans would be applauded by many. That, and this just seems like common sense.

This really, many people want to feel they are special, when they aren't. Accepting they are run of the mill is just too much for their fragile self worth.

The real irony is if they stopped trying to pretend, accepted themselves for what they are and picked up some books they might actually have a chance for honest intellectual self improvement.

Holy shit, why are these people so eager to bash children for being stupid? Wow, you're smarter than a 4-year-old, good for you. That's definitely something you should brag about.

Nihilism gets a bad rap because so many of its proponents are utter assholes, but have you ever really considered the idea that nothing matters at all?

Neil is enjoyable to listen to when he talks about things he is good at. He has such a strong genuine fascination for space, and can make for some nice background noise. He is full on exceptional about anything else, though, especially history. His tweet on columbus day is legendary:

And yet I'd still rather look at Italian cathedrals than like, anything in the Spanish speaking world outside of Spain

Anytime someone claims to be smart then tries to use evolutionary theory to show that men are superior to women automatically disproves their claim of being smart. The fact that women display more emotion than men is a social artifact, not biological. Women are allowed to be emotional, men aren't. Men have the same range and depth of emotion as women, they're just not supposed to show it.

I'm such an average guy.

Stupid above average and below average philistines.

Why can't they see how average I am?

Measuring intelligence is like measuring dicks.
Too little and you have to work twice as hard to prove yourself.
Too much and people can't handle it after awhile.
Just the right amount and you can get the job done no problem.

...And everyone likes to lie about how much they have.

Nihilists, fuck me. Say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism but at least it's an ethos.
