You know what this thread reminds me of? Those two henchmen from Sin City who always spoke in unnecessarily long (and in many cases, improper) sentences because they were both extremely stupid but had "delusions of eloquence."

If these people met the scientists that came up with the knowledge they flaunt they'd probably dismiss them as normie sheeple.

That said there are a number of these types in academia too. If someone (at least in a social science) wants you to call them Dr. ___, or their degree starts with "applied" or "evolutionary", run far far away.

And Neil Degrasse Tyson hasn't been lead author on a paper since 1993 (link). Fuck him.

What are the means in which one's IQ is properly tested? I'd really like to know because if it's simply being well versed in different topics, then I don't see what the big deal is. I think it was Christian Finnigan that said it best: Your child is either going to be Monopoly Smart or Trivial Pursuit smart. If they're good at the former, then they'll get ahead on life with little problem. If they're the latter, then they're screwed.
 
Oh shit I actually had an experience with one of these types once on Twitter. Me and some mates were talking about vidya and suddenly some wanker bursted into the conversation and accused us all of being idiotic plebs. Everyone was baffled so I just shitposted back and before long we were all just mocking him. He then accused us of being twelve and put us in his own "anti intellectuals" list before blocking us.

You can't have blocked users in your lists tho so they ended up being empty lol
 
There is another group of people that are not exactly Smart Guys from the OP, but are similarly exceptional - egotistic smart people.
They aren't poseur dumbasses and are in fact quite competent in their sphere of knowledge, but they are incredibly full of themselves. That competence turns them into an absolutely insufferable, arrogant ass. With age, it only gets worse and worse - they think that their decades of work prove they are absolutely right in everything and can't be wrong. They become incapable of self-reflection and explode if someone dares to seriously question them. When these people are in teaching jobs, they do a great job of ruining any enthusiasm for their subject.

I've seen quite a few such people both IRL and online - they are an enormous pain in the ass to deal with. If you're actually exceptional in any sphere (not in the Kiwi sense of the word), humility is an absolute must-have.

IQ is properly tested by a psychiatrist or psychologist using a battery of standardized tests. One such example is the Raven test which consists of logic puzzles, word associations and so on. The thing about these tests is that what they actually measure is pretty limited, in this case it's a mathematical type of reasoning and "cognitive plasticity" or something along those lines. IQ tests are not valid if they are not administered by a professional because the testing context also affects results.
 
There are studies that show that the smarter you are the less Sex you have because you‘re overthinking everything when it comes to talking to girls.

Dumb people just do shit and wonder about the consequences after.

Smart people learn to sometimes not think about a certain thing too much.

At the end of the day overthinking prevents taking Action.
 
The only new things I learned in this thread is that, apparently, I went through an IQ test when I was being assigned disability (no, I do not know results), which is kind of odd.
 
This is the white beta male equivalent of Fat Acceptance isn't it? You're obviously superior because you're a beautiful sexy cetacean/hyper intelligent titan of thinking but society as a whole is too prejudiced by conventional standards of beauty/perverted by the unthinking brainless masses that they just can't see your obvious brilliance. I think the tragic thing here is that these groups, be it HAES, SJWs, Smart Guys, Nice Guys/Gals, all hold in common the need to constantly be telling yourself: "It's NOT my fault nobody likes me. I AM superior. Society IS wrong. I AM HAPPY!"
