Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

So not SJW art per se (I would hesitate to even call it art) but I've seen a lot of Tumblr artists express this or similar sentiments, and dear god this sort of thing just reeks of entitlement:

While I agree that it can be discouraging to not receive comments on something you put hard work into, I hate it when posts like this are so guilt-trippy.

s.... s-stargender???? is gender just determined by your personality now? if you like tomatoes you get to label yourself accordingly??

When you put it that way, every weeb is the center of a Venn Diagram with Mountain Dew, Cheetos, and Lesbian Anime Porn genders.

I couldn't have agreed more. I really fucking hate those posts that go "watch no one reblog this" or "only x will reblog it". You know the ones that actively guilt trip their own followers and other people. Man, fuck that. You like what you like. You aren't owed attention for just existing.

but then I remember this is Tumblr we're talking about here.

I fucking hate how this artist draws faces and hands... Also, of course she has a vitiligo OC. Don't even get me started on her main oc, who just happens to have the same last name as Markiplier does. Gotta love youtube fangirls.

These actually look appealing to be honest. It's leagues better than what you usually see here. And to give some credit, it's an OC it's not doing any harm to anyone. They aren't completing fucking up a known character for browny points. I wouldn't call it one of the most horrible thousands of art out there.

I think the big difference is that usually expressing frustration with a lack of feedback usually manifests as those simple "fan art or funny doodles getting tons of attention vs. original content getting less attention" comics that are more a comment on the nature of the internet/the art business as a whole, while Tumblr artists like that comic are directly blaming their own followers for their lack of success when the reality is it's a combination of Tumblr's interface just being bad for art and a lot of Tumblr art just not being all that appealing.

It's a really bad mindset to have because it eventually turns into a resentment for their own viewers for not doing "enough" to get them the recognition they feel entitled to, and most of them don't seem to realize that endlessly screeching at people how you are "literally responsible for killing their careers" by not reblogging makes most people want to reblog even less or just do so through throwaway side blogs with zero followers that defeat the purpose of reblogs anyways.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27036528-ego-is-the-enemy

I'm currently reading a great book about humility and how the ego is your greatest enemy. It can destroy your success or prevent you from becoming successful.

People who draw/write etc. for praise and comments only are doomed to fail in the long run. Success will come on its own when your skills are developed enough. Focus on your skills instead of praise.

People who do shit for asspats rarely enjoy what they are doing. Their ego is bloated and wants more and more and if it doesn't get what it wants people become frustrated and repeat the same error again.

Because you can't just have fashionable manly men- remember, to tumblr, all it means to be trans is being slightly gender nonconforming in some way! The beautiful eyelashes on those men are all they need.

I also think the people who draw them as trans love the idea of how unexpected it is, because if you say fucking Joseph Joestar is a girl then that's "subverting gender stereotypes." Actually, I know that's the case, cause I've seen people get called out for saying Johnny is a trans girl. You know, because he looks pretty feminine, it's more expected to mistake him for a girl, and therefore transphobic to say he's a girl without saying any of the manly men are. Because shame on trans girls who actually make an effort to look like girls, I guess? I don't fucking know.

Anyways,

This makes me sad. They've suffered enough, why do you have to do this to them.
I mean if you're going to draw them in terrible clothes at least make them terrible 80s clothes so it'll be funny and accurate
Trenders also like to fetishizing the idea of feminine men being trans so they can justify to themselves being girly-girls while ironically loving and flaunting their secondary sex characteristics....

A strong contributor to tattoo regret epidemic. I present Charline Bataille. Whose content is only half decent when she's bootlegging work from other artists. And depressingly enough, people pay money for this...(some of this shit honestly looks like something you'd find on 80s Chinese bootlegs)

You'd be better off getting "eAT PANT" tattooed on you, Jesus.

Holy Christ, if you saw this repulsive garbage at the bottom of a urinal, you'd scrub it out with bleach.

Remember that Swedish feminist from a few years ago who re-designed fighting game characters to make them more modest, yet admited that she had almost no knowledge of the genre? She's back. And she redesigned a tranny as well.

Probably kind of autistic but

I find it funny how she decided to change Geralt's skin tone because "I'm ever tired of white characters, and therefore I want to see everyone's Geralt of Rivia with darker skin and with a binder that looks under the tunic"
Seriously, what's with tumblr dwellers criticizing Eastern Europeans for the lacking of darker skinned characters in contexts where they shouldn't be? Hope I don't offend anyone, but it would be really weird to see lgbt black people in medieval Bohemia (because Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been criticized on that, some death threats were sent as well) or in other contexts where they wouldn't fit because of the game's historical setting or cultural inspiration.
Imagine if they made a game set in China during the Song Dynasty (9th-13th centuries), a really accurate one - wouldn't it be weird to have vikings or native americans in it?
I think that most people complaining about it are just really ignorant in History; They think that the world was always like today's America: multiethnic.
Sadly, this attitude is spreading to Europe at a dangerous rate as well.

:horrifying:

Not surprised there. It seems that anything with incest in it, rabid fangirls latch onto it forever.

Not to change the topic so suddenly(I wish I saw this a few pages earlier), but I found this unexpectedly on my dash today and well...I'll just repeat what I said in another thread

I swear I always find this shit somewhere on Tumblr:

This is dumb...like..really really dumb. This is so fucking asinine. So because a piece of shit used a term, no one is allowed to use it EVER? I'm so sorry that people's art is so basic and devoid of any creativity and life that you get mad when normal people notice the trend. Once or twice is a coincidence, many other shows with different genres and themes having a similar style though? Despite the fact that some of these shows could be done by people who DIDN'T go to Calarts? And they look that samey? That doesn't seem odd to anyone else?

So the guy didn't like Iron Giant? He's entitled to his opinion. I don't understand Tumblr with this idea that if you hold an opinion people don't like everything they say is invalid. Is the guy biased as hell and I think his opinion sucks? Hell yeah, but his term Calarts Style can definitely be applied to the shit we see in now. It's just changed its meaning, like all words do.
So what we have here is one cartoon sperg sperging about the sperging of another cartoon sperg, wut.

Mikan Tsumiki but she's black for some reason
Ok not gonna lie that's actually kind of cute looking, though I have no idea what the character looked like originally

Also realized that I misspelled threatening, but like it's totally just part of my style you heteronormative pee heads!

The BBC has been doing plenty of that. It sucked that the black Friar Tuck wasn't the blading, fat, bearded guy (who sometimes is comedy relief) that he is. Instead he's attractive, fit and know some martial arts. There's a fear that they have to shove these changes and god forbid any of them are flawed, evil and/or unattractive. You'll never see them cast a black/mixed-race person as Giles de Rais (post retirement) or Jack the Ripper.

I can let Azem the Moor off (Robin Hood Prince of Theives) because he was well introduced into the story and was done by the charming Morgan Freeman.

The people behind the Costner film took the idea of putting a black person in the story from another version done before that, and since then it's kind of become a thing in Robin Hood-related media.
