Isn't vitiligo really rare?

it's certainly uncommon. also every single tumblr artist that slaps vitiligo on a character for "oppression points" seems to forget that

1. 1. it's a shitty condition to have (all these characters with vitiligo wearing shorts and short sleeves and exposing themselves to the sun without a drop of suntan lotion to be seen? they're fucked.) and it often comes with a lot of problems - it is most likely an autoimmune condition after all.
   
2. white people get it too (and it's still pretty noticeable from a distance unless the person is like me and ridiculously pale anyway)
3. it mirrors itself on both sides of the body a lot of the time because reasons, though not always. the mirroring is much more common/obvious in larger patches.
   
4. if you have a pale patch under any hair, the hair is almost always also affected and goes white.

i know all of this because something something powerlevel and it really grind my fuckin gears when twits on tumblr slap what looks like white paint willy-nilly on a character because it looks cool.

Hi kiwis! I'm new here and to be fair, I registered 'cause of this topic.
I do art. I like lurking art sites and art blogs. I've seen this new "awful on purpose" art style getting more and more popular. I hated this style. And I thought nobody but me realized it exist and was tired of it.
Thank you for this topic, really. It gave me a good laugh and love all analises why this shit is bad.

Author is a creator of decent webcomic that is on hiatus since 2012. It explains why its decent, pre-tumblr era.
Sailor Moon is one of my fave animated tv series and it hurts how people make it icon of radfem propaganda, because it happened to be first girl-oriended action show in US. Thankfully, only american fandom is like that from what i know.
And yes, a blog fully dedicated to fat sailors fanart, because of one concept art note that Usagi was A BIT chubby.

I died when I saw Osomatsu "kawaii" crap in that Deviantart gallery

And it's really weird they're still obsessing over Monster High. A kid's dolls series and last I knew I thought it was in 2011 when they were obsessed with it (back when tumblr was younger? dunno).

Thankfully, only american fandom is like that from what i know.

Yeah thatt's something i've noticed too. Not really harping on America but often most SJW art comes from Western countries/Europe/USA (And occasionally South America) than say from Asia. As of yet I haven't seen any SJW-ish piece of fanart that comes from say Japan (in where fandom and fanart is pretty big).

It's baffling at how much of this so-called "diversity" and "body positivity" art pushes the boundaries into borderline fetish stuff, like what you'd see on DA.

Japan is overall a lot more conservative in this respect than a lot of Western countries, so while the whole "media representation!!" thing exists, they tend to play it very safe by our standards. At the most you'll get things like not having straight teeth (in a country where very few people wear braces anyway), or "marshmallow girls", who are usually just slightly plus-sized.

Tumblrites draw ugly art because they have ugly souls. Fat, diseased, racist queer perverts is what they are on the inside, and it leaks out through their artwork.

What's sad is how pretty (or, at least "passably cute") fan artwork used to be before this horror- like, ten years ago. I feel like an important part of the art world has slowly died in its own filth in a gutter.

And the fat everywhere is disgusting. I'm going on a diet just to spite these people.

I know a few Japanese people who are involved in fandom culture. The impression I get is that while the passive-aggressive strain of SJW culture thrives over there, the whole special snowflake deal that drives a lot of these artists is frowned upon. If you tried to start #downwithcis over there you'd be firebombed out of existence.
