What's sad is how pretty (or, at least "passably cute") fan artwork used to be before this horror- like, ten years ago. I feel like an important part of the art world has slowly died in its own filth in a gutter.

Even back at 2009-2012 you could still find passable art (though around 2011 you could start seeing these...things). I think the whole "representation" mantra started once the 2010s fully began and hipster culture/tumblr gained more prominence.

There was a time when racebends just seemed to be done in a spirit of fun and they weren't invariably grossly racist caricatures where all PoCs are morbidly obese, ugly monsters with multiple skin diseases and bright red noses from severe alcoholism.

it's certainly uncommon. also every single tumblr artist that slaps vitiligo on a character for "oppression points" seems to forget that

1. 1. it's a shitty condition to have (all these characters with vitiligo wearing shorts and short sleeves and exposing themselves to the sun without a drop of suntan lotion to be seen? they're fucked.) and it often comes with a lot of problems - it is most likely an autoimmune condition after all.
   
2. white people get it too (and it's still pretty noticeable from a distance unless the person is like me and ridiculously pale anyway)
3. it mirrors itself on both sides of the body a lot of the time because reasons, though not always. the mirroring is much more common/obvious in larger patches.
   
4. if you have a pale patch under any hair, the hair is almost always also affected and goes white.

i know all of this because something something powerlevel and it really grind my fuckin gears when twits on tumblr slap what looks like white paint willy-nilly on a character because it looks cool.

Yeah, I've never really understood why they always seem to put it on only black people. The only person I've ever known with vitiligo was Iranian. I'm guessing it's cause their only notion of the condition is Micheal Jackson.

A bit of a different thing but in Tumblr art characters are often depicted playing 3ds's since everyone there is a Nintendo asskisser/other games trigger them probably. Makes me wonder if in those drawings the only games that exist are Animal Crossing and Pokemon.

I think the SJWs have something to dislike about Nintendo's other titles, so yes. Some SJWs did raise a stink about the "Are you a boy or girl?" line in the Pokemon games though.

They would want that line to be changed to this instead:
