The full name is Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction.
It's basically a mental condition that occurs when you jerk it for many years to porn without having real sex.
After you actually get to have real sex, your brain doesn't associate the stimuli you're getting from the real person with sexual pleasure because for many years, you were associating it with pictures, videos and your hand motions.
Not only that, the sex in porn you're experiencing is almost always from the 3rd person so when you're getting real sex from the 1st person after years of porn, it doesn't feel right and you're not stimulated unless you keep thinking of porn while having sex.
It's a serious mental condition and an enormous amount of people are affected.

Where have I heard this one before? America isn't the type of country where you can have any success just banning something like porn or alcohol. For better or worse you are freedom land, not some collectivistic Asian dictatorship.

For an porn ban to work your entire society would have to change overnight.

Since I'm actually interested in the things I talk about and I don't just say things for the sake of saying things, I look this shit up.
The popular things in 2025 are super hardcore and I'm so fucking glad that I didn't have all of this back when I was 12.
Look up how popular incest or rape is in porn these days.
That wasn't the case in the 90's, not on this scale, not even close.

Have you ever interacted with addicts during withdrawals?
Their bodies literally fight them, they feel excruciating pain, both physical and mental, the kind you or I never experienced and probably never will.
You can't just say NO, you need to be restrained and have your freedoms heavily limited in a lot of cases until your body goes back to normal which can take months.
Your suggestion doesn't work in reality.

There's a lot of studies on stuff like P.I.E.D, it literally rewires your brain, it's not a matter of saying NO at that point, you need professional help and it often takes the same amount of time to get rid of porn addiction as it took to develop it.

Does hentai improve society by divorcing people even further from reality? Will porn decrease divorce rates, improve birthrates, or ease the loneliness epidemic?

Ban porn unless someone can articulate an argument for how it improves society so greatly that it overshadows the negatives like porn addiction and such. I've never heard a good argument for why society needs porn beyond a nebulous "1A is unlimited" argument, which doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

I badly want to say yes because I genuinely believe that porn gives men brain damage these days, but I don't see how a porn ban would work in practice. Also I value free speech. Most realistic scenario is that people will turn to 3rd world unregulated porn sites with even more degeneracy. I think it's the parents' responsibility though to not let their kids have access to porn and educate them about the dangers.
