That's Leland Coyle from the Outlast Trials. I have no doubt this person is sincere, he has a lot of fans for whatever reason. Plus he very explicitly was (is?) a KKK member before becoming part of the trials in the game. A snippet from his wiki page tells you why other yumes are so up in arms over him:

Of fucking course, it's always the Eddsworld fans. I'm surprised the Outlast Trials fandom finally got bigger eyes on it, considering the game has been out for 2+ years now. Apparently, the developers/official moderators of the community used to encourage shipping and fan art of their characters in the official Discord server, but since the game's full release, they have implemented a rule against it. They even ran a successful Makeship run for a Coyle plushie, and the voice actor for him, Julian Bailey, has a cameo for doing in-character Coyle requests. I don't blame Red Barrels for profiting off one of their most popular characters, it's easy money. I'm sure Red Barrels knows their audience and doesn't mind feeding into their mentally ill fanbase. I've already seen some fans say that Red Barrels needs to address the recent controversy, but come on, they're not chronically online enough for that.

To be fair, the Outlast fandom has always been like that ever since the release of the DLC, "Whistleblower". When that came around in 2015, the fandom was flooded with Eddie Gluskin fangirls, and in that DLC, Eddie Gluskin was a misogynistic killer who targeted women because of childhood trauma. It also attracted a bunch of fujoshis, considering the character you played as was a male and Eddie would target him, wanting him to be his bride. Red Barrels, of course, also fed into the fangirl mentality, if I recall correctly, they released a Valentine's Day video with the voice actor for Eddie doing a Valentine's Day bit for the fans. I'm guessing it's just a classic case of mentally ill people indulging in disturbing games with the mentality that they can fix the fucked up characters. Personally, I think the fandom is a lot more tame compared to other fandoms similar to Outlast, cause I've seen a fair amount of fans actually be interested in the lore instead of just newgen fans drooling over the characters 24/7, or trying to shallowly relate to the characters (Resident Evil and Silent Hill). I'm also guessing the reason why the fandom and games in general are more niche/unnoticed compared to other games like RE and SH is that the content and the lore aren't in your face 24/7, so most people assume Outlast 1 is just about insane asylum lunatics. I don't know, I could be wrong and this could just be my personal sperging.
