Aside:
Why the fuck do zombies, FUCKING ZOMBIES have equal defense to either of my Knights?! I'm not underleveled and haven't got straight shit stat roles, no, rotting, barely functional corpses, are as durable as a centaur in full plate armor apparently. Makes perfect sense.
Centaurs are high mobility units, dwarfs are the high defense units but low mobility, it's a good game design decision because it makes you have to choose between a faster but more risky advance and a slower safer one, even if realistically centaurs should just rape everyone on the field.

It's retarded that real Shining Force games aren't a thing anymore when Fire Emblem is raking in sales and even super niche series like Langrisser and Utawarerumono are selling decently, getting ports, remasters, remakes and western releases. Shining Force 3 at the very least deserves a fucking port to SOMETHING, it's insane that such a well regarded game isnt available anywhere except on a pretty rare old console.

If I recall, Zombies are just like Skeletons in that you're better off killing them with Magic
Yeah, I figured that out, granted it's not because there exists a "magic resistance" stat, because there isn't one, just that magic seems to do a set amount of damage regardless of defense. Kind of a dick move to put 5 enemies you have to take down with magic, that can easily 1-2 shot Tao if they get to her (desert terrain, so guarding her or getting a heal on her is slow going as well) when she's your only mage at that point. Of course, you're very likely to burn through her mana just trying to cross that fucking bridge at the start of the fight as well. It's definitely one way to teach the player how to use different strategies but that battle in particular just feels so dickish for so early in the game.

That's a pretty good compromise from a design standpoint, Dwarves definitely hit harder, but if the Centaurs could take more of a hit Dwarves would really feel superfluous. My main complaint is just that a Zombie shouldn't have the defense of an iron wall. It always something that bugs me when games make generic zombies (RE zombies are bioengineered with super serems and shit so they can get a pass) superhuman. It's an ambling, no longer sentient rotting pile of flesh and bone, an angry toddler should be more dangerous. Same thing for skeletons. If they're magically reanimated and enhanced by said magic that's one thing, but generic ass zombies? That should be like smashing a pumpkin. When you first encounter them, they are with Dark Mages, so I guess you could say they're necromancers, but this early in the game them being powerful enough to resurrect multiple corpse that are stronger and more durable than battle hardened warriors really feels like an ass pull. The point of the zombies is to get the player to understand sometimes magic is the best option, but it really would of been better translated if the zombies were just ghosts. The high defense would still be questionable, but an ethereal being taking little to no physical damage would make a lot more sense.

--------- separation to avoid double post

Apparently a new game for the Genesis is on the way. While I really like people making new games for long discontinued systems.... I like them to make GAMES. After looking up the prequel (Sacred Line Genesis), it's a fucking graphic novel. What a waste. You're only releasing it on the Genesis for quick easy sales by collectors, because no one would buy this shit on Steam.

I wish they did a new game like Hideo Kojima's Snatcher

They never finished porting over the Saturn Shining Force games, America and Europe only got part 1. Like if they were going to do 3 they need to have all the shit that was never localized.

Part 1 wasnt even localized well, they just started making stuff up towards the end when they knew they wouldnt be releasing the other parts.
They'd need to relocalize all 3 parts but it shouldn't be too much of an issue these days, if the vastly more niche Front Mission can get remakes AND localizations of games that were never released in the west before, something like SF3 shouldnt even be a question.

The last time Sega put effort into a Shining game was the updated release of Refrain. But it apparently didn't do that hot so the whole series got shelved because of that.

It's just really surprising that they're still not using Atlus to their full benefit. Atlus could localize a ton of shit between their branches.

Snatcher ain't my kind of game, but it would still be 1000% better than Sacred Line. It's genuinely insulting to the console and fanbase to release such low effort garbage.

Up to Chapter 6 in Shining Force, when I was younger I didn't pick up Domingo going through the game. From a design standpoint, what the fuck were they thinking with giving him to you at 40% through the game? Flying, magic, a fuck ton of HP and MP, enough attack to still do damage if you're out of MP, and almost impervious defense (magic being fixed damage). Just toss healing items on him and he can just walk through the battlefield nuking everything.

Sega Plans To Leverage More Past IP With 'Remasters, Remakes, Reboots'
Along with planned 'Super Games'

As part of its financial earnings report, SEGA Sammy Group announced that it will leverage existing and past IP by means of "remasters, remakes, reboots, etc", aiming to strengthen its core properties by FY2024. The company also makes reference to the so-called 'Super Games' which, if you cast your mind back, may include IP such as Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.

Here's the full quote from SEGA Sammy's report:

"The core strategies of the new medium-term plan center around digging deeper into key existing IPs like Sonic, PHANTASY STAR, YAKUZA (Ryu ga Gotoku), Persona, and Total War and offering these to global markets. We are also taking up the challenge of “Super Games” within five years. Also, given our large pool of IPs that enjoy strong global recognition, we will actively leverage past IPs and further develop them, that is, by means of remasters, remakes, reboots, etc."

SEGA Sammy explains that its medium-term plan is to "break out of the current situation and become a truly sustainable corporate group"; they have labeled this plan 'Beyond the Status Quo'. The company has high ambitions for its upcoming Super Games, stating that the long-term aim is for each game to "bring in sales of ¥100 billion (approx $766 million) over their lifetimes".

Hopefully this means new entries for Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS, and Vectorman.

I want a Dino Crisis remake (in the vein of RE1, not RE2), also a Trauma Center and Virtua Cop collection. I'll also take any 2D Sonic they shit out as long as it's better than Sonic Generations DS.

Also they have a good handle of atlus well, at least for those in the europe, where you had to wait like a year before getting the games
Not to mention the absolute fucking joke that was Persona 4's PAL conversion (or lack thereof), which was released in 2009, had black borders and ran 16.7% slower with no 60Hz mode, more than a year after the original release date and at a much higher retail price if I'm not mistaken.

Meanwhile, I own a Dreamcast, Mega Drive and Mega-CD in terms of SEGA. I also want a 32X and Master System, thankfully living in the UK the latter is really easy to come by.

Seaman ASMR Will Provide Soothing Audio for Stressed People

Mt. Rainier coffee will provide people in Japan with a link to soothing Seaman ASMR tracks when they scan a QR code on the company’s drinks. The deeply soothing water-themed ASMR sounds are meant to help with those stressed from the COVID-19 pandemic. Seaman will emerge occasionally with various sayings. There will be a total of four different ASMR codes. The water ASMR is courtesy of award-winning aquascaper Takayuki Fukada. As well, you will be able to use the QR code to access AR images of various Japanese cities at night. As for Seaman, he will appear randomly, giving various pearls of wisdom. It is unknown if Seaman will insult the listener in the ASMR as he occasionally does towards the player in his original game. The Seaman and aquascape ASMR QR codes are available on Mt. Rainier coffees in Japan.

Well.....this happened. Can you imagine if a new Seaman came out? What would that look like?
