If it ever came out that ISP's were paying game devs to over-bloat the size of game files I wouldn't be surprised.

Other than that the patch seems okay. Bit surprised they added a quest for NVG's, but it's a nice bit of extra content. Still gonna hold off on replaying until early next year as recommended.

Haven't touched Stalker 2 since release, is it worth going back now or waiting until early next year?
Nah, I have been messing with it the last few days. I think its worse, or at least it is for me. The sluggish aiming is still a major issue for me, and I am getting more aggressive, but less often, FPS spikes. I honestly think this is the worst U5 engine game I have played, by a large margin. They need to stop adding shit and get in top of fixing this piece of shit, because even when I was getting a "stable" fps it was still plagued with issues.

Shame, such a great series of games to get dragged down like this.

The craziest thing to me about S2 was there not being a single new mutant besides some shitty deer enemy. Come the fuck on.
There's a shit ton of concept art for new mutants, but I guess they all got cut alongside everything else or never even made it to production.

Genuinely pathetic.
They gutted the ones they brought back as well, I remember poltergeists being able to detect and attack you even without any movement on your part and instead of throwing around physics objects in the world at you they'd just fucking pull out rubble from nowhere out of the ground and kill you with it. Flesh were also straight up suicidal instead of being the more passive mutants they're supposed to be. This was on release so I don't know if they adjusted any of their behaviour since then.

There were also those cuts that were cut out from Shadow of Chernobyl and now brought back here.

I decided to go through the Stalker 2 artbook and screenshot the concept art mutants:

Amazing, they're so unoriginal they rely off of everything that old GSC has done instead of coming up with something new.

Why not make the Tark a reality? You know, that mutant that was designed by fans for the Monster Ball contest back in 2003-2004 where it took second place, with the first place being taken by this very familiar concept?

Or, you know, copy the idea of holding a community contest for mutant designs, let your fans do your work for you.

It's fucking insane how talentless, unimaginative and generally useless nu-GSC is. They'd legit be more useful if they were drafted as meat fodder than they are as game devs, the only thing they have in common with the people that made Oblivion Lost is the studio name. :stress:

You know its bad when your "triple A" title is mogged by a free to play mod.

The page of a steam game inspired by stalker called "Misery" has been taken down by GSC for alleged copyright violations.
The full email hasn't been leaked by the developer himself, we don't have the full context of this violation. However, here's a couple of screenshots and pics from the game's discord. If it's just the generic commie bloc apartments, then this dmca sounds like total bullshit.

This is most likely politically-motivated. The community manager of Misery's discord is a zigger, people have been spamming Z-content here and there, reacting with a Wagner logo emojis to posts etc. Misery creator has apologized already after some backlash. I wish GSC would have put 1/4 of the effort to take him game down into making S2 actually good. Of course redditors have already flocked to defend GSC because of this, no matter your political stance on the war you have to admit that it would be pretty retarded to take a game down because of what happens in a private discord.
The only "stolen asset" you can find is one song you can play on your guitar, but I don't think GSC has legal ownership of music notes.

It's quite funny how hard the Redditors latched onto this one song to justify taking the whole game down when a few months ago GSC was caught stealing code from Anomaly addons... Did the mod author DMCA'd GSC? The original game on which Anomaly and the addons are based on may belong to them, but they do not own the modders' work and have no right to profit from it.

I didn't look into this particular case, but I think some game company (maybe Bethesda?) did claim ownership over all user-created mods since these were technically using game assets and so on. Wouldn't be surprised if that greedy bastard Grygorovych did the same thing here.
Also, the og games were released for free along with the devkits and source code when GSC disbanded, I mean this is why you can download mods without need to own a copy of any of the games, which is usually not the case even for big overhaul mods. If the GAMMA dev is making money (through donations), why is the Misery dev the bad guy even if he did reuse some of the og games assets?

This from the same company that helped reinstate the channel of russian youtubers who wee unhappy with them after they were falsely struck? I dunno, the Misery devs seem to have cropped the document, not only that but the person that is written on said document isnt even a part of GSC.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's getting desperate enough to try and cash in on the modding scene, especially after the absolute flop that was S2 and the terrible reception of the blatant money grabs that were the remasters.

It's a shame what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and GSC have become.

None of the old stalker devs worked on S2 afaik, at least not fully/officially, maybe there was some guest appearances. Grygorovych was always a money-hungry retard, aside from the 4 cars in the parking lot story I also heard from a friend that he used to throw out money from his apartment and laugh as people were picking it up from the street, but I think that story is either false or the video has been scrubbed off the internet completely.

Googling that lawyer's name brings up a preview of a post about fighting for the legal rights of musicians, so it's possible the whole drama is about those 2 songs (I've personally only heard one that was very close if not the same as one of the songs stalkers play by the fire) that are supposedly stolen assets.
