More like Higurashi Shitshow, amirite?
So glad I'm not actually watching it.

How did Rika forget that Takano killed her if she saw Takano do it the first time?
lol that's exactly the first thing I thought of as well!I don't know what you guys are talking about. The new episode was amazing! The part where Satoko fought Akane was my favorite. Look at her go!

Yeah that sounds about right. Five minutes for an exposition dump of things we already knew. When Gou started you had people (idiots) saying that it was better than DEEN because it was more slowly paced (since a criticism of DEEN is how quickly it goes through things). But DEEN actually managed to cram actual character and intrigue into its breezy adaption, Passione just stretch scenes out longer with tedious dialogue that draaaaaaags everything out. And yet we skip through lots of shit that is actually important like this episode. Gou has all the negatives of DEEN and none of the positives. Passione's pacing is horrendous.Given Rika is unconscious, I legit think this is just Hanyuu dumping exposition on her character onto the newcomers who shouldn't be watching this shit to begin with.
It's been said here plenty of times already, but the manga is genuinely better than the anime. I'm vaguely interested in how much different it will be now that it's up to Satokowashi, but I doubt it'll be able to actually make the St Lucia backstory any less stupid. At least we got a 100% confirmation that Satoko has a holster, I mean everyone already believed it but at least we know that Sotsugyou is just a tiiiiiiiiiny bit less retarded than we thought. In other news, the manga finally reached the end of Nekodamashi, and it's pretty different from the anime:
There's no resolution for the Takano stuff, there's no meeting with Hanyuu after Tataridamashi, nor is the sword/shard ever brought up, Shion is actually present at the birthday party (really bizarre that she wasn't there in the anime), Satoko's gun holster is actually shown instead of her just pulling the gun out of her ass, and instead of Rika setting up the box as a deliberate trap to reveal Satoko, Rika doesn't suspect anything whatsoever, and is completely shocked when she notices Satoko react so strongly to seeing the box.
Not sure how they're planning to resolve all this, but I think it's pretty safe to say that Rika is completely fucked at this point, at least as far as this world goes.
The manga definitely can't handle it any worse than the anime did, that's for certain. For starters, the manga doesn't have to deal with the anime direction, who apparently said that he couldn't really see much in Satoko's character in the original outside of her being an abused child, which immediately explains a lot about how her character was handled throughout the entire show. It's been said here plenty of times already, but the manga is genuinely better than the anime. We can deduce from the latest episode that Hanyuu probably fucked off right after Saikoroshi, which would put it roughly two months after the events of Matsuribayashi. No clue when Hanyuu gave up on a physical form, though, since it's not hinted anywhere, though it probably would've happened less than a month after Matsuri since she doesn't appear in the opening of Saikoroshi, either, which took place in July. We're never given any reason why she couldn't continue living alongside the rest of the cast, so I guess it was just Ryukishi wanting to soft retcon it, just like the idea of Satoshi ever getting a happy ending.I don't recall if this got brought up, but why the fuck was hanyuu not present after Matsuribayashi? The whole "I'm fading away" in Gou isn't until 1988. Why does the club seem to have no memory of Hanyuu when she was there and was key to beating Takano? I was confused enough when she was suddenly a spirit again in Saikoroshi? Did they just go "oh she moved away" at some point and I missed it?
So basically it's another case of Ryukishi not being as good as everyone thinks? Sounds about right. Now I'm wondering who wrote Kokoroiyashi-hen, the manga's post-matsuri finale. As far as I'm concerned, retcon Saikoroshi to put Hanyuu visiting in the hospital with the rest of the club, then Kokoroiyashi, then maybe Yumeutsushi-hen from Kira, then the final 1984 scene from Kokoroiyashi. As far as I'm concerned that's how Higurashi endsWe can deduce from the latest episode that Hanyuu probably fucked off right after Saikoroshi, which would put it roughly two months after the events of Matsuribayashi. Nobody showing any signs of remembering Hanyuu after Matsuri is probably just witch god magics, if you really want to fish for an answer. There's never been any actual explanations for it, at least. Worrying about plot holes and consistent characterization is for chumps, obviously. Don't bother asking why Hanyuu is suddenly okay with just heading off to the Sea of Fragments after spending a hundred years forcing Rika into a hellish time loop because she didn't want to be lonely. She saw a miracle happen, everything is okay now.
Ultimately, we're just left with the idea that after putting Rika through a dream in which she may or may not have killed her mother, the failure figured that Rika was going to be okay and all those issues originating from her looping weren't gonna be a problem. The heavily traumatized century-old child has another heavily traumatized child with her, I'm sure they'll do fine together. Supportive parents are overrated, anyway.
I wish I could still summon up a fuck to give. As far as I'm concerned, Higurashi ends in 1984 with Rika getting off the phone with Hanyuu and visiting Akasaka in Tokyo.New preview images posted on the official Twitter. We’re finally to the GUN episode.

it's probably still 9/11 somewhere in the world
Absolutely agreed. I dropped Sotsu after that split Satoko crap. It’s just stupid.I wish I could still summon up a fuck to give. As far as I'm concerned, Higurashi ends in 1984 with Rika getting off the phone with Hanyuu and visiting Akasaka in Tokyo.
Ryukishi gets a "original work" credit for Kokoroiyashi, but Yuna Kagesaki gets a full authorial credit on Kadokawa's website. It's probably about as canonical as the stories in Kataribanashi, and Onisarashi remains the only manga-original arc that Ryukishi was actually involved with as a writer. So basically it's another case of Ryukishi not being as good as everyone thinks? Edit: MyAnimeList credits R07 for the story on Kokoroiyashi. Wtf he just can't commit to a story direction god damn
Huh. I don't recall Rika being in a coma all summer but then again I'm only really familiar with deen's version of Saikoroshi and it's been a while. Eh, if I had to get rid of one or the other to get an actually good sequel instead of Gou/Sotsu I'd honestly keep Kokoroiyashi. Hell, there's a fucking fanfic that does post-Matsuri better:Ryukishi gets a "original work" credit for Kokoroiyashi, but Yuna Kagesaki gets a full authorial credit on Kadokawa's website. Plus, it's really hard to fit it in a timeline with Saikoroshi, since Rika spent most of that summer in a coma recovering from a severe traffic accident, and wouldn't really have much opportunities to try to travel to Tokyo, and that's not even going into how Hanyuu keeps her physical body in Kokoroiyashi.
Yeah it and Elfen Lied pretty much wereThis seems like the type of anime people use the footage from to make AMVs for Drowning Pool's Bodies.
In 2006.
