I figured the Keiichi vs Teppei scene was shown like that cause of Umineko's "if everyone present (Satoko and Ooishi) agrees that something happened, then that's how it's depicted" rule.

I don't think you can pull that off when we've been following Keiichi's point of view all this time even up to that scene, and the whole scene we saw in Gou doesn't even match up with the story Satoko told Ooishi, especially with stuff like where the bat came from and who let who to the house, making it all bullshit, anyway. And Umineko's "rules" only work because Beatrice's game was designed around the conflict of mystery and fantasy, so tricks like that are by design. You wouldn't expect them to apply to all Witches' game boards within the Umineko context of game boards, and especially not to fit within the game board concept as it exists in Ryukishi's other stories that use the concept in its own ways.

Lol even Chie-sensei got a character song.

The /a/ live thread was full of people despairing or shitposting and making fun of the episode. At this stage I think most people think Sotsu is shit. I'll try to clip some of the most egregious (funny) moments later when I have the time.
@Kari Kamiya you have a doozy to look forward to.

3 EPISODES LEFT AND WE'RE STILL RECAPPING.

3 EPISODES LEFT AND WE'RE STILL RECAPPING.

3 FUCKING EPISODES LEFT AND WE'RE STILL USING SHIT FROM GOU.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. The new episode was amazing! The part where Satoko fought Akane was my favorite. Look at her go!

WHO'S READY FOR SEASON 3!?!?!?

What a garbage episode.

95% of it was just recapped

4% Satako_smirk.jpg :shit-eating:

1% oh_look_hanyu_did_a_thing.gif

Even then, it's still garbage, you telling me that a sword that was supposed to be pretty much legendary and has it's own myth attached to it would outright snap at the smallest tug?
Like damn, it looks like a thick ass metal sword, not some thin poorly made katana, there's no fucking way it would just snap like that.

Also Satako doesn't even notice it had a broken piece, because... reasons. No no, it's certainly not a plothole or Ryukishi writing the characters as stupid or OP as he wants guys! :story:
Then there's the whole final with Hanyu, like really nigga, make up your mind, is she gone or not? You can't just have her be like "bla bla bla here's my final parting gift cause I'm low on batteries" then just fucking popup AGAIN right at the end, like if she could do that, why didn't she find Eua before then?

3 fucking episodes left and we're still not at that gun scene from GOU.
Just damn, what a fucking dissapointment, there's no way this is ending on a high note, good or bad.

Satoko breaking the sword (and breaking it again in the last Neko world) isn't even the biggest issue. The sword already being shown to be missing in Watadamashi is a far more egregious offense. Are we just meant to assume that Hanyuu only spawned it after Tatari, and the scene of the statue's head falling off in Watadamashi meant absolute nothing? I certainly don't put it beyond the showrunners at this point.
Given that we've already gotten past the Watanagashi in the manga and the shard still hasn't even been mentioned, there's good odds that the whole sword and fragment deal doesn't even mean anything, and is just anime filler, unless tomorrow's chapter would cover it, but that would be weird too, given that manga Rika should already be mindbroken by now.
This episode has just been almost entirely useless. I guess we now finally know that Saikoroshi is actually canon, but that just raises issues of its own, since I guess Rika didn't actually retain any lessons of that whole ordeal and took up the princess act again at St. Lucia after supposedly realizing that it makes her a bit of a cunt.
They couldn't even throw us a bone and show us what happened after Keiichi bonked Rika. Getting to watch him try to eat Rika's brain would've been funny, at least. We didn't get satisfactory explanations for the individual rampages, either, unless they really want us to believe that Satoko telling Akasaka about the parasites would immediately convince him and drive him into a murderous frenzy.

The big problem is that, like a vegetarian restaurant, there are no stakes. Umineko happens so the girls turn into witches. Satoko wins some phyric victory where Rika hates her but stuck with her at some other dimension. Otherwise this whole sorry tale was completely pointless.

I've been summoned but it just took forever because everything was broken lol.

1631214895418.png

Given Rika is unconscious, I legit think this is just Hanyuu dumping exposition on her character onto the newcomers who shouldn't be watching this shit to begin with.

1631215030359.png

1631215051930.png

This is bullshit because if Takano was always the one to knock Rika out, then how in the fuck did she not ever remember who it was who kidnapped her? She was at least somewhat aware that people were going to come after her, but she never knew who was behind it.

1631218352748.png

Nah, Rika was giving up long before “Massacre” happened.

WAIT A SECOND HERE.

Are you telling me Hanyuu did actually die being shot at by Takano? Is Miotsukushi actually canon here?

And she legit did tell Rika in “Cat Deceiving” “Lol you're on your own”? Why???

1631218560700.png

YOOOOOOOOOO WAS THAT SHADOW ALWAYS THERE GUYS

higurashi01.png

Remind me again, but has not-Featherine and Satoko always been able to see Rika and Hanyuu talking to each other? Is that exactly why it is Satoko is even able to follow Rika to the next world so perfectly? Even though Featherine told her that wasn't always a possibility?

higurashi02.png

Oh fuck off, how in the fuck—

So legit we're going to be gaslit into thinking that nah, Satoko wasn't just torturing Rika to break her spirit and keep her in Hinamizawa, but now Satoko has to also find the sword before Rika does so as to prevent it from being used on her.

higurashi03.png

higurashi04.png

OH BULLSHIT

Is THAT the only reason why she was able to listen in, so that way it could explain why it was the sword just so happened to never-ever-ever be there except for a shard that CONVENIENTLY fell back inside? Reminder, Ryukishi, that the head was COMPLETELY EMPTY in “Watadamashi”. Did you forget or expect people to not remember that moment? Because Kari Kamiya (and REO Speedwagon thanks DDOS) remembers that perfectly. So how in the FUCK did it respawn in THIS world, then, if it never existed to begin with?

And don't you dare think about pulling this "Only witches/loopers can see the magical sword" bullshit on us, because that isn't how continuity works, you ass.

1631219030362.png

And how did no one in the group hear Satoko mumbling this to herself?

1631219111647.png

So I guess Ani-One Asia can only get the censored version at this point. Meeeeh.

Which is funny because the censored filter meant also darkening up everything else when it's SUPER FUCKING BRIGHT from the sunset outside. Great job, Passione, how could you fuck that up?

1631219144887.png

DURRRRRRRRRRHUEHUEHUE I'MMA WITCH NAO

Also why is it we got to see Satoko tell Akasaka about the worms, but not to Akane? Or Kimiyoshi? Or Keiichi, for that matter? You would think it'd be super-duper important to at least watch Satoko burn more bridges like that, but I guess not.

EDIT because DDOS: Also they never cut back to Satoko pulling a Jigsaw after Keiichi bashed Rika's brains in, so I guess we're to just assume Keiichi beat Satoko's head in, but she didn't actually die yet until just right after Rika did because convenience.

1631219189867.png

1631219212629.png

LOOOOOOOOL SATOKO CAN DODGE SWORDS NOW

1631219224363.png

So wait, Rika being stabbed and heads being decapitated were too much, but actual brains being blown out was totally okay to NOT censor?

1631219246292.png

Is this gonna be the bullshit cop-out to explain why Satoko doesn't pull the trigger on Rika?

I'm seriously sick and tired of being jerked around with these “twists”.

So the coming of The Matrix sequel/possible reboot nobody wanted has me thinking. If we do get Umineko anime attempt 2 out of this, what are the chances Ryukishi goes full retard and canonizes Beato/Sayo as trans?

This is bullshit because if Takano was always the one to knock Rika out, then how in the fuck did she not ever remember who it was who kidnapped her? She was at least somewhat aware that people were going to come after her, but she never knew who was behind it.
Rika losing virtually all memory of the hours prior to her death (barring some vague things she can remember) was always part of how things worked for her, and a fundamental aspect to make the plot work. The only real question this scene creates is whether Hanyuu always forgot too, as it was presented in the original, or if she was just lying all this time.
Nah, Rika was giving up long before “Massacre” happened.
Rika was quick to give up on individual worlds, and was only putting in the barest amount of effort, but she still had hope that the next time was going to be better, which is how she could both give up on Rena during Tsumi while also talking about how the next Rena was going to be better. It's only when the miracle world of Minagoroshi goes to hell when Teppei returns that she starts thinking that perhaps all her efforts were useless from the onset, though she doesn't make concrete plans to give up for real until she finds the resolve to actually fight again, which she obviously doesn't end up going through with because of all the important development she underwent (and subsequently forgot because fuck you) in that arc.
YOOOOOOOOOO WAS THAT SHADOW ALWAYS THERE GUYS
Yeah, it was there in the last episode, too. For some reason they stopped giving the uncensored versions to their overseas distributors, which means that the next episode is going to be fun, given how extensive the censorship was on the TV release of the disembowelment episode.
Remind me again, but has not-Featherine and Satoko always been able to see Rika and Hanyuu talking to each other? Is that exactly why it is Satoko is even able to follow Rika to the next world so perfectly? Even though Featherine told her that wasn't always a possibility?
Yeah. They've been doing this from the onset, as seen in episode 4 and 7, which makes perfect sense since Rika is only looping now due to Eua's power anyway, though it's conditional to her dying before Satoko. As long as Satoko dies (shortly) after Rika, they'll always end up in the same fragment together.
And how did no one in the group hear Satoko mumbling this to herself?
I don't think it's any worse than Rika constantly talking to Hanyuu in the original without anyone ever noticing, but if this was a VN or manga it probably would've just been part of an internal monologue. They're really adverse to using those in the anime, with only a handful of scenes really have any kind of internal narration. Ooishi's thoughts during the scene with the village council is probably the most notable one that was shown.
