New Oni Chapter.
I can't help but feel like Oryou isn't really the main character.
She'll probably be more relevant later on, since there's obviously something that went down in the village while Souhei was kicked out.
I can't tell what they actually want to achieve with this manga, though, since the pacing is all over the place. What was even the point of that first chapter if the next chapter already jumps to them being adults before we had a chance to get invested into any of them? These are pretty short chapters for a monthly manga, too, and they didn't have much prepared ahead of time.
The Gou manga finished Onidamashi within the first month, clocking in at around 170 pages, Hoshiwatashi's first chapter was 55 pages, and Oniokoshi released two chapters at the beginning for a combined 80 pages. These manga understood that you want to frontload your content in order to get people hooked, but if you only have 62 with two chapters where nothing really happens, people are going to stop caring almost immediately.
It doesn't help that they're trying to market it as some sort of "missing link" to Higurashi without ever explaining what that link is supposed to be. There's nothing about this time period that hasn't been explained yet, at least not in regards to Higurashi's main plot.
We already know that Souhei made a lot of money on the black market after WW2, which Oryou used to rebuild Hinamizawa and establish the Sonozaki as the dominant family, while Hifumi discovered Hinamizawa Syndrome during the war and began to research it. That's all the parts that are important to Higurashi's main story. There's really nothing to do with Oni other than show how Oryou became such a cunt, and that's really not a very compelling premise.
