The ultimate blackpill is accepting that if they ever were to make another Umineko figure, it'd be a super fanservicey figure of Maria at the beach or some shit like that. Also its a crime that there is only one figure of Takano.

But yeah it really is a shame that the Umineko anime was dogshit and nips hated the ending, I would've killed for like a Battler crying figure or some shit. Shit would've been crazy.
The ultimate blackpill is realizing there's a shitload of merch for like every Higurashi character save for Ooishi and Tomitake and the fact the $5-$10 blind box figures of the characters keep being scalped for more insane prices in corona times to the point some assclowns are squatting on a bunch of them hoping some sucker pays $700 a pop for them.
I also really wish they just made more of those blind box figures based orn the original sprites for more than just the 4 characters they did, and this ties back to the whole "no ooishi or tomitake merch" situation. in this case a wave 2 of those things going by the whole "5 figures" structure would ideally would have keiichi, ooishi, shion, tomitake, and takano probably but since the actual ones that were the only wave of the things had 2 rena outfits it's probably just have shion in 2 outfits (or got help us 3) or some shit like that to save what little money for tooling on head sculpts.
of course this is all pure speculation of a hypothetical scenario and the hell we live in is the "nothing available save for overpriced or scalped shit" timeline.
There's some fucking static rena figure I found thats made of plastic and looks like something you could get for 20 dollars a few years back . It's not even an outfit the character ever wore and it's fucking 400 god damn dollars for no reason at all as it's MSRP. this is the world we live in.

Most of the merch for Higurashi is just cheap garbage, though. The characters getting the actually notable stuff (i.e. figgers) are really just Rena (despite her near-complete irrelevancy as a character since Tsumihoroboshi), and sometime Rika and Hanyuu (who for some reason got a palette swap figurine, too). Of course, the level of care is questionable at best, given that they just made that absolutely disgusting Rika figurine where they decided to give her breasts.
Though honestly, I'm more surprised they haven't made a Satoko figurine yet. You'd think they'd be all over that after Gou/Sotsu put Satoko at the forefront.

Mei announced a new crossover, with Kanon this time.

Can't wait for the Spiderman 2 pizza time crossover
I really don't think it's weird for them to do a crossover with Kanon. It's a popular VN from the same era, and Ryukishi has gone on record to say that Key's works were one of the things that inspired him to make Higurashi. Ryukishi has also already worked with Key on stuff like Rewrite and Loopers, so there were obviously already professional connections between them and 07th Expansion, even before they did the Clannad crossover.
And there's even notable voice actor overlap between the two works, so that cuts down on the costs, too.

If anything, this was kind of an obvious crossover to do.

Yeah, it's getting pretty wild. It basically addresses all the issues people had with the anime and executes the premise in a way that makes it work.
It does feel a little forced that every world ends with Rika getting trucked, Satoshi dying, or Satoko being caught in a collapsing house, but I guess you could always chalk those up to Eua deliberately fucking with it, if you want to.

I'm definitely amused by how the anime ending with them splitting up is the first world Tomato presents to us, except it's a complete nightmare that makes all of Satoko's anime loops look happier by comparison. Makes me really want to know what Meguri's ending is going to be.

So I guess Ryukishi has reached the Sapkowski/Kinoko Nasu stage of his career where he's content to see his creation get raped by a million spinoffs so long as he makes his money. I'm not judging him though. It's very easy for people at home to say that they would value their artistic integrity over everything when they've never had and never will have Kadokawa wave a wad of money in their faces.

Not a surprise considering half the Higurashi cast are moeblobs who make obnoxious noises when they're not killing each other.

Characters with obnoxious vocal tics are a specialty for Yui Horie, after all.
Case in point.

Oniokoshi is gearing up to become even more of an embarrassment than Gou/Sotsu was, with Rika hitting absolute peak retard.
Why would anyone think this would be a good idea?
Explaining the loop mechanics right at the start, and then have Rika decide not to talk to her friends about how two of them are going to die (despite talking to your friends being part of the big lesson of the original), and instead pin all her hopes on Keiichi's son because she's convinced that he'll be able to break through fate just like his father did (even though Keiichi was barely involved in Matsuribayashi), and she tries to accomplish this by talking to Keitarou exactly once to encourage him to befriend the members of Polaris (which he was probably going to attempt either way), and now she convinced herself that everything should be daijoubu now, because I guess she's just thoroughly convinced that this entire situation came about all because Keitarou didn't friendship his way through the cult hard enough.

It's just incomprehensible how stupid the entire plot is, and that's not even getting into the manga's plethora of other issues, such as the pacing (we're at around 220 pages in and nothing has happened yet, while by this point the manga for the original three Higurashi arcs were already on their second volume with the main plot happening), the uninteresting characters and bloated cast (and we still don't know what happened to Shion and Satoshi), and how most of the old club members kind of end up with shitty fates, with Rika notably clearly trying to run away from her past and never getting over her trauma.

I don't consider affordable funny small figures "cheap garbage" when the "notable stuff" by this definition is fucking 400 dollar plastic figures that are just the same thing as the cheaper ones with a ridiculous price bump and maybe an ounce more quality control. This is of course not taking the rampant scalping of the cheaper ones going on right now into account, which makes the situation even worse.

I wrote this reply god knows how long ago but apperently never hit send so I'm doing that now after checking in on this thread lmao.

Speaking of cheap garbage, I keep seeing really fucking cheaply made figures of the penguin from the new batman movie in stores lately and I can't fucking shake how the fucking thing just looks like a palette swap of ooishi.

What are the odds one of the sequels gets canceled?
From what I've heard, Oniokoshi's rankings are dropping pretty hard in their app, and the artist went on a blocking spree towards people criticizing the manga at some point, so I really wouldn't be surprised if the manga will get cut short and ends up having to rush towards its ending, though that depends on Gangan's policies, which I'm not familiar with. It might still be salvageable, though, since at least they're nearing the festival now where the real plot should kick in.
I do have to wonder what kind of effect cancelling it would have on the Reiwa manga as a whole, since they're obviously gearing up towards at least a third arc, with the stupid loop bracelet effectively spoiling it right at the beginning, as well as both manga opening with a scene of a great tragedy that ensures that this won't be the final world.

It's pretty hard to get invested in a manga when you already know the ending and that none of this shit will matter in the end, especially given how hard Ryukishi doubled down on the whole "only the final world matters and please ignore all the ones that ended in a horrible tragedy" thing in Hou+'s cast party.
Hoshiwatashi isn't as bad, but Oniokoshi really doesn't feel like anyone involved really understands what the audience wants to see. Meguri and Mei at least give people what they want, and are actually trying to tell new stories, while the Rei and Oni manga come across being too derivative of the original, while also focusing on a bunch of characters I just can't give a shit about.

So far I really like Tomato’s version of the story a lot better.
Motivations for Satoko that make sense by showing her trying other worlds over and over.
And this is a personal thing for me, but putting more emphasis on how much Satoshi does mean to her which should have been one of her biggest motivating factors in the anime.

Her descent into this madness now had progress leading up to it.

I worry about the fact the sword is brought up though as I feel like that was the worst part of Sotsu, so I hope if it does end up having a bigger plot in the manga, that Tomato doesn’t fuck us over because so far his version of events has given me hope for this story again.

I remember when the Wataakashi manga chapter came out, Keiichi couldn’t see the sword, so it was theorized that only Loopers can see it, though it was never explicitly mentioned in the anime.
Maybe that’s the route the manga will take?

Sperging aside, I have more trust in Tomato than Ryukishi at this point, so let’s hope he can fix that abomination of an ending that Sotsu was.

This is why I made my own Featherine garage kit. They really don't care for the huge expanded cast of characters they already have besides sometimes making merch of the other main characters of higurashi.

They keep remaking Rena for everything and not doing anything for umineko. Rena is basically the face of 07th merch and it doesn't matter how obscure the 07th merch is. You can bet your life that its likely to be Rena or Rena-themed.

The story of that recent gacha game wasn't too bad either and I liked how they used Tamurahime in place of Hanyuu, though the series would be better off as a revival of the point & click adventure game genre than the insanely long VNs that are longer than most religious texts. Would be plenty of space for the VN sections and voice acting.
