What the fuck even is this list?
  • The fantasy element ends up front loading a bunch of magic shit out of nowhere and completely upends the balanced system by having it be that the magic users always have a leg up to science.
  • That only last until the end of Volume 3, then they all become bitter, sociopathic jerks.
  • Like how it's okay to ditch your crippled friend to hang out with your family even when your psycho ex tells you straight up that his personal mission is to kill said friend.
  • And with every improvement, there's two steps they take backwards.
  • If you forget that they also had a backlash against critics who are more concerned with the direction the show's going.
  • Too bad we don't see any of the setting and instead are fixed to reused sets every Volume.
  • They handle most topics with the subtlety of Reefer Madness.
  • Instead, the show will sell itself out to shippers.
  • Eh, okay, I'll give this one a pass. I'd make the joke about the Blake Faunus twist, but that still bends to the "foreshadowing" thing.
  • When they're not wasting time just standing and talking.
  • Too bad no one uses the gun part of their weapon, even when it's more pragmatic that way.
  • Tokenism.
Just to add a few things because this dead horse hasn't been beaten enough yet:
  • Fuck no it's not balanced. Dust isn't magic, it's science so advanced it looks like magic. Everything is treated as though some schmuck with dust could do the same, with semblances being the only unique part. Things considered magic that shocks the cast when witnessed: People turning into birds, spirit reborn into a child that can possess them. Strangely, both my examples (and any other I could think of) all happen several seasons into the series. If it takes 4 seasons to introduce your magic, you didn't balance it correctly.
  • After season 4, I couldn't find myself liking any of the characters for anything other than their character designs (well, except Yang because I really liked the PTSD angle, too bad they fucked that one up).
  • Nothing to add.
  • They only started "listening" after viewership started dropping and criticism started escalating. A good writer would consider criticism before that point.
  • It's entirely devolved into a generic fantasy setting with some technological advancements.
  • Remember kids, getting over PTSD brought on by someone easily slicing your arm off when you're at your strongest can be gotten over by getting a new arm and bullying a bandit.
  • That's not always a good thing. Instead of dropping your characters into a situation and letting them react to it, you have to sideline a bunch of stuff to railroad them to your end. The writers are clearly railroading at this point because a lot of the cast don't seem to follow pre-established internal logic. They just do whatever will advance the plot of create drama.
  • No, just no. God-tier foreshadowing leads to shock, at best I think the writers have gotten a "Huh, neat. Didn't expect that" from me. You're dramatically overselling the foreshadowing.
  • Some fights clearly have thought and effort put into them, but a lot do not and become confusing messes. The fight at the end of S5 is a great example of this. I couldn't tell you what anybody in that fight is doing when the camera isn't on them, and because of pacing it feels like they're just staring at their enemy instead of fighting. If you can't handle a big brawl, don't write a big brawl. Split everyone up so that the reader can at least conclude that all the fights are happening at the same time and nobody has downtime.
  • Too bad the bullets are nerf darts and nobody is actually affected by them.
  • EVERYBODY LOVES CHECKING CHECKBOXES ON THE CHECKLIST OF INCLUSIVITY.

Here, I can come up with a better list.

REASONS TO WATCH RWBY

-The music

...That’s literally it. Jeff Williams is the only bright point now.

Slowly turn into...

What?

Alright, so, I'm one of the people who don't buy that Adam was always abusive, but let's point out the fact that the only reason that Ironwood is acting in a totalitarian fashion is for 1) him trying to make the best out of a situation, 2) Team RWBY outright lying to him about the situation (which has it's own problems) and 3) Bumbledee and Bumbledumber some how getting it in their heads that telling Robyn Hill about the tower is even a good idea.

Which while Ritcher said above:

Is true, there's another issue - And that's due to the fact that Robyn isn't even that trustworthy to begin with - if she was, she would've used her Semblance on Penny or the dog guy (I forget his name) at the rally to prove whether or not they were telling the truth about the attack. To me, it seems like she was looking for an excuse to break the law, not that she needed one, since she was already doing that.

Let's assume, and this is an assumption, that Adam always was a creepy ex-boyfriend stalker - the comparison to Ironwood wouldn't work, because the only reason why he's acting this way is because RWBY decided it'd be a good idea to lie and break his trust... Well, to be fair, Weiss didn't do anything there to violate his trust, in fact, in all honesty, the fact that she did discover Watts and exposed her father should, for all intents and purposes, show that she has been loyal to Ironwood.

But back to the mistrust issue... I don't really see why this is really much of an issue at this point - Since, well, Oscar already blabbed about what the group did to him, and yes, he was shaken, but he was already resolved to fight.

Look, the latest episode might've been good, and hey, I actually like Ironwood as a character, but we can't look at this episode in a vacuum. And with all the BS for this episode, it does taint it... Especially when Team RWBY acts like they have a say in what should be done at this point after the bullshit they pulled.

Don’t get me started on Robyn’s Semblance and how much could’ve been solved in this godforsaken Volume, but I fully agree that she just wanted an excuse to keep playing vigilante due to her own ego being bigger than a horse. As for Bumblefuck and Bumblefucker, I still don’t get their logic of telling Robyn the truth while Ironwood is still in the dark with what the Teams found out...

Let’s go over what both had done, since this Volume started;

Ironwood;

-Gives Yang a new robotic arm after Adam sliced her old one off like holiday ham, free of charge.

-Shares info about his plan for the Amity Coliseum and the Winter Maiden, not hiding anything from either RWBY, JNR, Qrow, or Oscar.

-Allows them to reside in Atlas Academy, where they get housing for free and even upgrades / tweaks to their weapons along with new threads.

-Bond with the Ass-Ops via training and joining them on the Mining Mission.

-Promotes them to Huntsman and Huntresses, out of the kindness from James’s heart since he feels their ready...They also get free cake.

Robyn;

-Is introduced committing a crime of interfering with a military convoy carrying sensitive cargo, and openly admits to not being interested in doing things the legal way before her cronies try to steal said cargo from Ironwood’s operatives, until Penny shot that shit down.

Apparently, Robyn is too exceptional to wear a mask to commit her crimes.

-After she loses the election and has her rally attacked, the Not Antifa (Happy Huntresses) group returns to committing their terrorist actions and steal from Ironwood for weeks apparently.

Robyn Hill didn’t give jackshit of anything good ever since they arrived, so I don’t know what they were thinking of telling some bitch neither of them know very well (Outside of her propaganda about how good she is and how she’s doing this for the people), and even if Tyrian wasn’t the one who attacked the rally, who’s not to say that Robyn couldn’t have one of her cronies pulling a false flag? Literally, these clowns sold state secrets to some dumb hoe who proved that she won’t not be a criminal.

I am glad Ironwood shat on them, lol.

I’ll say this about Robyn: they really need to get the most out of Christina Vee

Let's not forget that one of the Huntresses, Fiona, is a Faunus who can see in the dark (or so the FNDM claim because darkvision is now like a switch) and would know Penny wasn't the one who did it.

Either she omitted that detail or told Robyn, but she chose to ignore it. Either way, they basically used the botched rally as an excuse to commit crimes and she's supposed to be the good guy?
-Gives Yang a new robotic arm after Adam sliced her old one off like holiday ham, free of charge.
It's also remarked that it's not only state-of-the-art, but also it was hard to even get it to Vale in the first place. Ironwood pulled out all the stops to get Yang that metal arm and she repays him by reeeeing over his one lie to draw out Salem's agent.

Don't forget, Yang apparently says "Robyn's always been on our side", like... Really? She has? How the bloody hell would you know?

You've only been near the woman twice - and both were after you decided for some reason to tell her about Ironwood's plan, you didn't this woman, and as far as you knew, she could've been an agent of Salem. Not outside the realm of possibility considering that she was also causing issues for Ironwood.

Actually that's a good question - Why didn't they know about that? In the 9th episode, Ironwood outright says in front of Yang and the others that he needs to get Watts out in the open. The team knows that the com tower is no where near complete, and you'd think that they'd be given updates about it.

I don't see why Yang would get upset about lying about the state of the com tower, that sort of misinformation or trick is used all the time... Hell, one can argue she pulled the same thing to defeat Adam, it's called a feint.

... Also, now that I recall, they tried to do the EXACT same thing in order to get to Atlas in the first place - using an underhanded bluff to get an airship.

What the hell!?

What even is character consistency or internal logic.

ALL FALL TO SHIPPING AND BUMBLEBEE!!!

I came from the future, the final conflict in RWBY gets solved by Yang and Blake holding hands and shooting some sort of love energy that purges off the darkness in Salem who now realizes that all her problems were caused by heterosexual men and thus RWBY + Salem beat the God bros with the power of lesbians and progressively accepting each other.

The writers never had to nerf Edward's villains in order for it to be believable that he won. I cannot say the same for Yang.

I... What?

Ed didn't have a robot arm, he had an automail one, and one that was connected to his nerves, something Yang never had to deal with, not to mention deal with the scaring of having metal in his body so he could connect the damn things.

Also, Ed was a kid when he lost his arm... AND LEG, and was still a bad ass for it.

Also, yang only lost up to her elbow, Ed - Up to his shoulder.

In addition, Ed could kick Yang's ass any day of the week with alchemy... Hell, if she ever made contact with him, he'd transmute her dinky arm into an odd looking toy.

Also helps than Hohenheim had a killer keikaku.

I know that Atlas is the most technologically advanced kingdom in RWBY, but have they established the mechanics of Yang’s prosthetic? I know it’s not the most interesting thing To show, but, if Ed needed to have his arm maintained and even had to have different materials because environment, Yang could easily have those issues also.

Such as having it be broken. Hell, I'm surprised Yang's arm didn't break, we've seen how easy Atlas tech has been hacked and destroyed.
