"OMG Emma and Daniel said 'Trans rights'. I feel so valid"
It may be fake and pure performance, but it is still important. Most people don't like to speak up against something. They will keep quiet. In the end it looks like everyone supports trannies. Famous people all tweet "trans rights are human rights", local politicians waste some money on a rainbow pedestrian crossing, and the few people that protest get shouted down by public outrage. It all contributes to a public sentiment that trannies are heckin' valid.
Just look at Rowling. She was one of the few that was willing to disagree publicly. She received endless abuse and associating with her would damage you. The most support she got were a few "let's be nice to each other" messages. If more actors didn't take the easy path and refused to support trannies, they couldn't put her in the corner as the evil nazi TERF.
Zizek has a theory he calls "belief with no believers". Near the end of communism, the people no longer believed in communism. They said they supported communism, but they did not believe in it. Everyone just pretended to support communism to keep the grift going. He compared it to people sitting in church. You might not believe in god, you may daydream about sex and murder while praying, but the important part was that you sat in church displaying your piety.
I think the current turnaround on trannies shows the same dynamic. With the facade crumbling, people realize everyone in church was just pretending to pray. Or in this case, everyone pretending to accept trannies. That is why the lie is important.
Male and female actors are both the worst sorts of people you can imagine.
It seems most actors have some screws loose, and try acting as escapism. As a result there is a heavy bias for nutjobs. So you end up with a bunch of bipolar demons triggering other bipolar demons, narcissists high on fame, psychopaths being paid to deceive, and sex pests running a sex ring. Add money to that and you have a cocktail of mentally ill people constantly being stimulated to follow their worst instincts.
