Yeah, that is generally a weak or stupid theory to gamble on. His fight with Waid gave him some publicity, which increased his funding. But that was clearly a single event. Not a business model. What his lawyers will politely and clearly explain is the purpose of a lawsuit is to make one whole from damages suffered. That is the goal. Pride or Petty Vengeance is a bad metric to use for your legal decision making. And as a general strategy you don’t want to roll the dice at a trial court over nothing but ego when the defendant is offering to make you whole. Meyer and his Lawyer have likely decided on what the minimal reasonable threshold they would accept for being made whole in this matter. They will base their settlement discussions and decisions on that and likely that alone. Do note that Meyer and his Attorney have refrained from playing any of this out in public. Other than acknowledging the lawsuit, when Waid announced it, Meyer has said almost nothing about it or Waid. Everything we know about it comes from Waid or public court documents, which we only know to look for because of Waid. Meyer isn’t using this for marketing or media bennies. There is no reason to think that doing so would be his end goal.
